NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Metro Nashville Public Schools are one step closer to installing new security measures in its schools as a more than $3 million contract was approved for the purchase and installation of entry-resistant window film.
The Board of Education approved the contract with Solar Tint on consent for MNPS facilities.
MNPS says the shatter-resistant film and sealants are designed to hold the glass in place even if it is shot multiple times.
“We appreciate the investment by the Mayor and Metro Council to fund this additional safety measure for our district,” said Dr. Adrienne Battle. “Our comprehensive safety and security plans developed in conjunction with the Metro Nashville Police Department are part of our continuous improvement model and will result in the strongest safety measures in district history.”
