Guardiola calls for greater Man City support after FA Cup win - Goal.com Posted: 26 Jan 2020 11:11 PM PST Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has encouraged the club's fans to turn up in greater numbers following their 4-0 win over Fulham in the FA Cup fourth round. Guardiola's side made light work of their Championship opponents on Sunday with goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and a Gabriel Jesus double wrapping up a routine victory. A relatively small crowd of 39,223 watched on at Etihad Stadium - 15,000 fewer than attended the club's last home Premier League game against Crystal Palace. The number of fans didn't go unnoticed by Guardiola, who urged them to return in greater numbers ahead of their Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Manchester United on Wednesday. "Today was not full - I don't know why," Guardiola said post-match. "[Wednesday] is a chance to come back to Wembley for three years in a row. Hopefully our fans can come, more people than today. "Hopefully they can support us more and make an intelligent game to reach the final." City claimed a 3-1 away win against the Red Devils in the first leg having lifted the trophy last season after edging past Chelsea in the final on penalties. While critical of the fan turnout on Sunday, Guardiola did single out City fans for praise last month after a 3-1 league win over Leicester City. "I think today the spectators were incredible," he said in December. "We played so good. When that happens, our fans are always behind us. I have the feeling they are there when we play good. But we need them. The players deserve it. "I need my fans when we concede a goal but have played incredibly well. We need them. We can't always play 90 minutes perfect. "Inside the first ten minutes we were not good. We lost some balls. We didn't play simple. We didn't start to connect again after the half-time break. "In the bad moments, we need them. When the opponent is good, we need them to be a better team." Guardiola's men have won seven of their past eight games in all competitions and currently sit second in the Premier League - 16 points shy of Liverpool. 'Nothing changes' - Zidane focused as Real Madrid claim La Liga lead - Goal.com Posted: 26 Jan 2020 10:41 PM PST Zinedine Zidane called for improvements in Real Madrid's finishing after his side needed a late Nacho goal to clinch a 1-0 victory over Real Valladolid at Estadio Jose Zorrilla on Sunday. Nacho connected with a Toni Kroos cross to head Madrid in front after 78 minutes of a tightly contested match to earn Zidane's men a win that moved them three points clear at the top of La Liga. Zidane praised his defence after Valladolid failed to register a shot on target but said more creativity is required to ensure struggling opponents are beaten more convincingly. "Defensively, what we are doing, we are doing well. It is our strength," Zidane told reporters. "We defend all and when we lose the ball we recover it very high, and if we keep it we have a good chance of scoring. "Nacho scored and that is part of football. We know that we can improve in this aspect. "Nacho is a professional. When he has to compete he does well. I'm glad for his goal; he doesn't usually score them but from time-to-time we can also create chances for defenders." Zidane refused to be drawn on his side's title chances despite opening up a gap over rivals Barcelona, who lost 2-0 to Valencia on Saturday. Madrid have been beaten only once in the league this season but with 17 games remaining, including the visit of Barcelona on March 1, Zidane predicted a tough road ahead. "For us, nothing changes," Zidane said. "We are happy with the victory, the work done having fought until the end, but nothing changes. There are 17 games left and we will continue fighting until the end. "I don't want to talk about being champions because there is still a lot left to play. It changes nothing to be leaders, they are three important points but nothing more. "There are a lot of league games left and it will be difficult for all teams, including us." Madrid's next game is at home to city rivals Atletico Madrid on Saturday with Diego Simeone's side unable to make the most of a strong start to their season as they currently sit fifth in La Liga. Neymar Scores Incredible Goal And Pays Tribute To Kobe Bryant - The18 Posted: 26 Jan 2020 08:41 PM PST PSG defeated Lille 2-0 on Sunday to go 10 points clear of Marseille at the top of the Ligue 1 table. Both of the goals were scored by Neymar — the first a sensational effort from the top of the box and the second from the penalty spot — who celebrated his brace by paying tribute to Kobe Bryant. Bryant, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, were involved in a helicopter crash that claimed the lives of everyone on board. Neymar opened the scoring in the 28th minute after exchanging passes with Marco Verratti at the top of the area before curling an effort into the top corner.
PSG was then awarded a penalty for handball in the 52nd minute and Neymar converted from the spot for his 15th goal in 14 Ligue 1 appearances this season.
He celebrated the goal by paying tribute to Bryant's jersey number 24.
"I saw the messages on social media at halftime," said Neymar. "It's a big sadness for the world of sport and for all of us, not just basketball fans. I knew him and I did this celebration for him. I hope he will rest in peace." Both Neymar and teammate Kylian Mbappé paid homage to Bryant on Twitter after the game.

The Coronavirus: What Travelers Need to Know - The New York Times Posted: 26 Jan 2020 08:26 PM PST The death toll from a novel coronavirus has now reached at least 76, with most of the more than 2,000 cases reported in the Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the disease. At least 10 other countries have also reported cases, and five people in the United States have been diagnosed; all had recently returned from China. Here's what travelers making their way to or from China can expect. Where was the disease first discovered? The outbreak of the deadly coronavirus is centered in Wuhan, a city of 11 million and the capital of the Hubei Province in China. Wuhan is a major manufacturing center, but not known as a tourist destination. Travelers to Wuhan are likely visiting friends and family, or are business travelers connected to that city's manufacturing industry. Most business travelers will have already returned home as the factories recently closed for the Lunar New Year — as is tradition. Last week, the Chinese authorities imposed a blanket travel ban on Wuhan and surrounding cities in Hubei Province, a population of 35 million people. No planes, trains or buses are going in and out. What are airlines doing? All flights in and out of Wuhan have been suspended, and airlines worldwide have announced that they will allow passengers who are traveling to, from or through Beijing or Shanghai to rebook their itineraries without a change fee. There are restrictions, however. Delta Air Lines states that no refunds will be issued and rebooked travel must begin before Feb. 29, 2020; passengers may cancel their itinerary in exchange for a future travel credit (but with payment of any difference in fare and the applicable change fee.) American Airlines will permit travelers to delay their trips for up to one year from the original ticket date without change fees (but with payment of any difference in fare). United Airlines added Chengdu (in addition to Beijing and Shanghai) to its waiver, and will allow passengers to rebook without change fees (but with payment of any difference in fare) for trips after Feb. 7. Similarly, Air Canada offers a waiver, with the option to cancel the itinerary in exchange for a future travel credit, and Lufthansa allows for changed itineraries for trips before Sept. 30. There is no waiver policy in place for Emirates flights, but those with upcoming bookings are recommended to call the airline for guidance. Cathay Pacific, the Hong Kong-based carrier, and Cathay Dragon, its regional subsidiary which operates in mainland China, are permitting passengers to rebook flight to mainland China, so long as passengers travel before March 31. Travelers flying to China to join a group tour, including from Hong Kong to mainland China, should contact their tour provider. Travelers anticipating visiting China in the coming weeks should monitor their airline's website for updates. In a first since the SARS crisis in 2002 and 2003, Cathay Pacific is permitting its crew and staff to wear surgical masks at work. Likewise, American Airlines: "While it is not medically recommended, American will allow flight attendants to wear masks on flights to and from Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong," said Curtis Blessing, an American spokesman, in a statement. The masks are ubiquitous across Asia, but not common in North America. American, United and Delta are providing additional hand-sanitizing wipes for flights between the United States and China. Dr. Paulo Alves, the global medical director at MedAire, a Phoenix provider of in-flight, virtual medical care to airlines and their passengers worldwide, said masks are meant to contain to the droplets that someone emits when sneezing or coughing. Passengers are not being issued surgical masks by airlines. What should travelers expect at airports in the U.S. and in China?Foreign and domestic airlines operate dozens of daily flights from the United States to China, primarily to Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai. China Southern operated direct flights between Kennedy Airport, San Francisco International and Wuhan. Before the travel lockdown, passengers could have connected in China to Wuhan through code-share partners such as Cathay Pacific, Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines. The decision behind which American airports screen passengers is made by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In a statement last week, the C.D.C. said it is establishing protocols and procedures for screening passengers. Other than Kennedy, the four other domestic airports that are screening passengers for signs of infection are San Francisco, Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, Los Angeles International and Atlanta. However, Delta Air Lines said in a statement that other airports in the United States may also be screening passengers who recently traveled through Wuhan. In Asia and the United States, passengers are scanned with thermal devices to measure their temperature. Passengers with symptoms such as high fever may undergo additional screening, and even off-site monitoring at specialized facilities. Should travelers to China cancel their flights? At this time, the C.D.C. has recommended that travelers avoid all nonessential travel only to Wuhan. The agency maintains a website that travelers can check to get the latest recommendations. "There is no evidence of human-to-human transmission outside of Wuhan. If you're not heading to those specific cities, you should be fine," Dr. Alves said, referencing a growing list of cities in Hubei province covered by the travel ban. He added that travelers should expect longer transit times, as there may be "health and temperatures screening at airports, railway stations, docks and long-haul bus stations." Dr. Alves also cautioned that travelers should reconsider travel to China if they are already sick with a cold or the flu. Within China, "some locations have implemented screening and travelers may face quarantine and testing," he said. Are tourist destinations in China closed?China boasts more than 55 UNESCO World Heritage sites, and some of the most popular, including the National Museum of China and the Forbidden City (both in Beijing), were closed over the weekend. The Badaling section of the Great Wall of China, a popular attraction located some 40 miles outside of Beijing, was also closed, as were the Shanghai Disney Resort and Hong Kong Disneyland Park (the hotels at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort remain open). No date has been announced for reopening any of these sites. In addition, multiday celebrations for the Lunar New Year have been canceled in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. Wuhan, at the center of the outbreak, lies on the Yangtze River. The river is a popular multi-night cruise route that includes visits to the Three Gorges Dam, which is in Hubei province. No official announcements on the status of these river cruises have been announced, however, travelers that have booked cruises should contact their travel agency What precautions can travelers take?"Those universal things like washing your hands are always recommended," Dr. Alves said. He also suggested passengers avoid touching their faces, practice coughing etiquette and not cough into the environment. "Keep some distance from people who are obviously sick and maintain good personal hygiene," he added. The advice mirrors that given to travelers during cold and flu season. While seat backs and tray tables on long-haul aircraft like those flying to China from the United States are individually wiped down by ground crew between flights, passengers may wish to bring their own wipes for a second pass. T-Mobile, Sprint merger could be derailed by California regulators - MarketWatch Posted: 26 Jan 2020 07:47 PM PST T-Mobile US Inc. and Sprint Corp. are waiting for a federal judge to rule on whether they can merge, but the companies face another hurdle even if they overcome that legal challenge: the California Public Utilities Commission. The state utilities overseer is the only such body that hasn't yet blessed the $26 billion deal, and its continuing review threatens to further delay — or even derail — a merger that has dragged on for nearly two years. The state body has until July to vote but might extend that timeline further. Just how much power the California Public Utilities Commission and other state bodies like it wield is unclear. Neither company is based in California but, as nationwide wireless providers, they have millions of customers in the state, and Sprint has a small wireline business there. Most other state utility commissions have approved the deal. A spokesman for the commission said the review was continuing. Representatives for Sprint S, -4.17% and T-Mobile TMUS, -0.73% declined to comment. Disapproval by a state public-utility commission could be enough to stop a communications merger, consultants at NERA Economic Consulting wrote in a 2017 paper that analyzed state reviews of 40 such transactions. An expanded version of this report appears on WSJ.com. Also popular on WSJ.com: 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit isn't the average anymore. So long, California? Goodbye, Texas? GLOBAL MARKETS-Stocks drop as new coronavirus fears escalate - Nasdaq Posted: 26 Jan 2020 07:29 PM PST By Tomo Uetake TOKYO, Jan 27 (Reuters) - Shares slid on Monday as investors shunned equities on growing concerns over the scope of a China virus outbreak, with safe-haven assets such as the Japanese yen and Treasury notes in greater demand. U.S. S&P 500 mini futures ESc1 shed 1.2% in early Asian trade. The Nikkei futures traded in Chicago 0#NIY: suggested Japanese shares .N225 are on course for a steep 2.0% decline. Concerns over the spread of the coronavirus in China, and the potential economic impact, continue to generate financial market headlines. "Media wins -- all you see is headlines about the coronavirus, giving investors a reason to sell the markets," said Takeo Kamai, head of executions services at CLSA in Tokyo. The ability of the coronavirus to spread is getting stronger and infections could continue to rise, China's National Health Commission said on Sunday, with more than 2,000 people globally infected and 76 in China killed by the disease. China's Cabinet also announced it will extend the week-long Lunar New Year holiday by three days to Feb. 2 and schools will return from their break later than usual, state broadcaster CCTV said. Market participants kept a wary eye on developments surrounding the coronavirus, which the World Health Organization (WHO) deemed "an emergency in China," but not, as yet, for the rest of the world on the eve of the Lunar New Year holiday. Trade in Asia has already slowed for the Lunar New Year and other holidays, with financial markets in China, Hong Kong and Australia closed on Monday. All three major Wall Street indexes closed sharply lower on Friday, with the S&P 500 seeing its biggest one-day percentage drop in over three months. The S&P 500 .SPX lost 0.90%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average .DJI fell 0.58% and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC shed 0.93% after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed a second case of the virus on U.S. soil. U.S. Treasury prices advanced on Friday, pushing yields lower for a fourth straight session, with the benchmark 10-year notes US10YT=RR dropping to a nearly three-month trough of 1.670%. In the currency market, the concerns about the virus supported the yen, often perceived as a safe haven because of Japan's net creditor status. The Japanese currency strengthened as much as 0.49% to 108.73 yen per dollar JPY=, a 2-1/2-week high. Kobe Bryant leaves behind a business empire that stretched beyond the basketball court - CNN Posted: 26 Jan 2020 06:53 PM PST Bryant died Sunday in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California at the age of 41. "For 20 seasons, Kobe showed us what is possible when remarkable talent blends with an absolute devotion to winning," NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement Sunday. "He was generous with the wisdom he acquired and saw it as his mission to share with future generations of players." Beyond the courtBryant diversified his career by breaking into the investing world even before leaving the NBA. In 2013, he co-founded venture capital firm Bryant Stibel along with Web.com founder Jeff Stibel. In creating the company, Bryant followed the model of a select number of other sports legends who have been able to transform skills developed on the court into business success. NBA Hall of Fame point guard Earvin "Magic" Johnson was among the first in 1987, when he founded investment firm Magic Johnson Enterprises, which invested in a number of sizable businesses, including Starbucks and New York's LaGuardia airport. Bryant's firm now has more than $2 billion in assets, with investments in dozens of technology, media and data companies. Bryant Stibel claims at least 10 successful exits, including Dell and Alibaba. It also has investments in Fortnite creator Epic Games, digital payment company Klarna and household products firm The Honest Company. "You've got to have strong entrepreneurs, that's really the key for us is looking at the people," Bryant said in an interview with CNBC in September. "Yes, it's important to see those returns, right? But it's also important to have great opportunity, great relationships with our investors, great opportunities with our entrepreneurs to help them grow and put them in situations where they can be successful." Separate from the firm, Bryant also made millions of dollars on his investment in sports drink Body Armor, which in 2018 boosted its valuation by selling a stake to Coca Cola. Bryant's reputation as a star athlete and brand builder has been one of the portfolio's keys to success. "When Kobe puts his stamp of approval on something and really gets behind you as a partner, the world of sports and everyone across the spectrum of the sports industry takes note and you're suddenly validated in a way that most startups just don't experience until much further on," skincare brand Art of Sport founders Brian Lee and Matthias Metternich said in a statement about the company's development prior to Sunday on Bryant Stibel's website. Other athletes have taken note of Bryant's experience as an investor. "I think Kobe's somebody who's been super fun to kind of pick his brain about some things," Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps told the Wall Street Journal in August. "We've had the privilege and the opportunity in our sports to be successful and reach the pinnacle and we know what it takes to get to that top level. So now, it's always the challenge for the athletes to find that drive outside of the sport." In 2016, Bryant founded Granity Studios, a media company that focuses on creative storytelling around sports. Through this company, the basketball star wrote and narrated a short film called "Dear Basketball," which won the Academy Award for best animated short film in 2018. Granity has also released a set of books for young adults, along with Bryant's autobiography, "The Mamba Mentality: How I Play." Building the Black Mamba brandBryant, known in basketball as "Black Mamba," began to build his brand as an athlete early in his career as a Nike (NKE) endorser. Bryant first signed a deal with Nike in 2003. He was one of an elite group of NBA players who signed with the brand that year, including LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony. That helped the shoe company solidify its position in the basketball world for the next couple decades following Michael Jordan's 2003 retirement. As Bryant's success on the court grew, so too did his Nike partnership. The brand put out multiple lines of Kobe shoes and gear. In 2017, the company brought Bryant on stage with then-CEO Mark Parker at its annual investor meeting to celebrate the launch of Nike's new business strategy. Nike partnered with Bryant and the Los Angeles Boys and Girls Club to launch a youth basketball league, called the Mamba League, in 2017, to give hundreds of kids free access to the sport. Bryant later created the Mamba Sports Academy to provide broader athletic and lifestyle training to competitors at all levels in a number of sports. Bryant was on his way to a Mamba Sports Academy game Sunday when the helicopter crashed. "We are devastated by today's tragic news. We extend our deepest sympathies to those closest to Kobe, especially his family and friends," Nike said in a statement Sunday. "He was one of the greatest athletes of his generation and has had an immeasurable impact on the world of sport and the community of basketball. He was a beloved member of the Nike family. We will miss him greatly. Mamba forever." Nike held a "Mamba Day" to honor the retirement of the celebrated but controversial athlete in 2016. Nike stuck with Bryant even after he was charged in late 2003 with the sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman. The case was dropped a year later after the woman declined to testify, and Bryant apologized for his behavior though he always maintained the interaction was consensual and he had not broken the law. Bryant has also been involved in the NBA's efforts to expand its audience beyond the United States, particularly in China. In 2015, he worked with Alibaba Group to release the basketball star's documentary "Kobe Bryant's Muse" through its Tmall Magic Box TV in China. The deal also involved working with Bryant to create a new social media platform "bringing new avenues of connecting China's young people directly to Kobe and his philosophies," according to a press release from Alibaba announcing the partnership. Additionally, the company sells a number of Kobe-branded products on its retail platform. Boss over celebrates goal in 9-year-olds match - ESPN Posted: 26 Jan 2020 06:41 PM PST The coach of a Spanish junior football team has been warned about his behaviour after celebrating a goal too much and displaying non-sporting conduct in a match between nine-year-olds. Barcelona-based Sant Andreu, who play in Spain's fourth division, received a complaint from junior level opponents Bufala de Badalona after their coach was filmed racing on to the pitch to celebrate the goal and embrace members of his team. - ESPN La Liga fantasy: Sign up now! The video, posted on Bufala's Twitter account, also showed the Sant Andreu coach booting the ball away as their opponents were preparing to re-start the game, provoking angry protests from the Bufala players.
"It was a real shame to see the actions of the Sant Andreu coach, no trainer should ever behave like that, it goes against the values we are trying to teach our children," Bufala said in a statement on Twitter. "You have to know how to act when you lose and also how to act when you win." Sant Andreu apologised for their coach's actions. "We understand why they [Bufala] might be upset by this incident," the club said on Twitter. "The people responsible for junior football have spoken to the coach and the correct measures will be taken to ensure this unfortunate incident is not repeated." Wuhan Coronavirus Can Be Infectious Before People Show Symptoms, Official Claims - ScienceAlert Posted: 26 Jan 2020 05:57 PM PST A person with the Wuhan coronavirus could be infectious to others before they know they have the virus, according to China's National Health Commission Minister Ma Xiaowei. At a Sunday press conference, Ma said someone with the virus could show no symptoms they have the coronavirus anytime between a day and 14 days, CBS News previously reported. During that time, an asymptomatic person is also infectious and could spread the coronavirus to others, Ma said, which makes it difficult to stop its spread. Coronavirus symptoms include nasal congestion, headache, cough, sore throat, and a fever, according to infectious disease expert and University of California San Francisco professor Charles Chiu. "At present, the rate of development of the epidemic is accelerating," Ma said at the press conference. "I am afraid that it will continue for some time, and the number of cases may increase." The virus, which originated in Wuhan, China, has killed 56 people and infected more than 2,000, Reuters reported on Sunday. Although officials have quarantined Wuhan and some other neighbouring cities, the virus has spread to at least 12 other countries: Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Singapore, Nepal, France, Australia, Malaysia, Canada, and the US. Currently, there are no tests designed to detect this exact coronavirus strain, since 'coronavirus' refers to a family of viruses that cause common colds, Chiu said, and current coronavirus tests that doctors use can't detect the Wuhan coronavirus strain. Someone who gets a coronavirus could have minor symptoms and develop a flu or develop a more severe or life-threatening condition like pneumonia. Others viruses are infectious before symptoms appearThe Wuhan coronavirus isn't the only viral infection that is infectious before a person shows symptoms. According to the National Health Service in the UK, chickenpox, the common cold, and the flu are all infectious multiple days before a person with the virus shows any symptoms, like a rash in the case of chickenpox or a fever for the flu. Barcelona demand style and substance but Real Madrid just demand silverware - Goal.com Posted: 26 Jan 2020 05:41 PM PST Nobody will take fond memories home from Real Madrid's 1-0 win at Real Valladolid, except goalscorer Nacho Fernandez. He doesn't get many. What Madrid will take, happily, are the three points which move them three ahead of Barcelona at the top of La Liga, ending weeks of parity. After Barcelona fell 2-0 in Valencia, Madrid turned the screw on the Catalans with this victory, the fruit of a dull but ultimately effective display which is becoming something of a trademark for this team. Zinedine Zidane has steadied the ship at Madrid after last season's utter disaster and while he doesn't have the team playing great football with any degree of consistency, they are grinding out results. It is football which Madrid's rivals Barcelona turned their nose up at, sacking Ernesto Valverde earlier in January with the team top of the table. While Quique Setien is trying to bring Barcelona's possession-based football identity back - at the potential risk of jeopardising the team's prospects in the three main competitions this season - Madrid are in touch with theirs. Winning. Whatever, however, as long as it ends in silverware. Barcelona demand style, followed by substance. Madrid just demand silverware. While fans won't have enjoyed watching their team slugging it out at the Jose Zorilla stadium on a cold night in Spain's northwestern nowhere lands, none of that matters if it ends up with the league title back on their grasp. Zidane wants that more than anything, even European success, having noted his sorrow at not doing better domestically when he left the role in 2018. So the French coach will consider his job done here, thanks to Nacho's 78th-minute winner. In recent weeks Madrid's goals have come from all over the side, with Raphael Varane, Casemiro and Luka Modric among others chipping in, with their forwards injured or out of form. It was no different at Valladolid, with Casemiro nearly adding to the two he hit at Sevilla a fortnight ago, but his header was disallowed for offside. That was Madrid's only real chance of a turgid first half, with the visitors clearly lacking the spice Eden Hazard's arrival was supposed to bring. The Belgian winger specialising in lock-picking and Valladolid had all their doors firmly shut. It looked like Madrid were going to fail to capitalise on Barcelona's dismal showing at Valencia on Saturday, but Toni Kroos crossed for Nacho to steer a header home. Sergi Guardiola beat Thibaut Courtois in the final stages but was offside and the equaliser was stricken from the record, with Madrid otherwise comfortably holding on to the win. It was the type of victory which only the history geeks will be able to recall in a few weeks time. A performance like this from Barcelona would start an inquisition in Catalonia, but Madrid will chalk the points up and move along. The important thing is that they now have an advantage on Setien's under-construction Barcelona and when Hazard is back, he has a platform to build from. Quietly, Madrid have slid into pole position. Two California cases of new virus from China reported by health officials - Santa Cruz Sentinel Posted: 26 Jan 2020 05:29 PM PST Two people in California — one in Los Angeles County and another in Orange County — have tested positive for the coronavirus, the California Department of Public Health reported on Sunday. Both patients, who were not identified, had recently traveled to Wuhan, China, the source of the outbreak that has sickened some two thousand patients and caused dozens of deaths since December. "The California Department of Public Health has been preparing for this situation by working closely with local health departments and health care providers," Dr. Sonia Angell, CDPH Director and State Health Officer, said in a prepared statement. "California is prepared for more cases that may arise." The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said Sunday the infected person presented themselves for care once they noticed that they were not feeling well and they are currently receiving medical attention. Another new case, based in Arizona, also was reported by the U.S. Centers of Disease Control on Sunday. A total of five cases are now being tracked in the U.S., including the cases in Seattle and Chicago reported last week. Those patients remain hospitalized. About 100 Americans are currently under investigation, Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said in a Sunday press conference. The virus – provisionally called 2019-nCoV – is brand new to medical science, so it is not yet known how easily or quickly it is transmitted. There is no vaccine. It has been isolated and on Friday, the CDC published its genetic sequence, which will accelerate research. It has now been reported in 14 nations, including the U.S., said Messonnier. There is no evidence that the American patients have spread the illness to others, she said. "At this time, the virus is not spreading in our community," Messonnier said in a Sunday press conference. "For this reason we believe the immediate health risks from the virus to the general American public is low at this time." Globally, more than 2,000 people are known to be infected and 56 have died. The California Department of Public Health reminded residents to take these steps to protect themselves:

Video: Neymar honors Kobe Bryant after scoring goal - ClutchPoints Posted: 26 Jan 2020 04:41 PM PST The shocking news of the death of NBA and Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant has brought a massive outpouring of grief. Bryant, alongside his daughter Gianna, were among those killed in a helicopter accident Sunday morning. Bryant's death has impacted athletes across the globe, with tributes to the superstar athlete coming from social network sites to NBA teams paying respects by taking 24-second shot clock violations. Soccer star Neymar decided to pay his own tribute to Bryant. After scoring a goal, Neymar put up the numbers two and four to recognize and honor Bryant.
Bryant's death has brought the world together in remembrance. But it should go without saying how life is precious, and we should love one another while we are here. Bryant lived an incredible life. He won five NBA titles with the Lakers, and was one of the games greatest all-around players. But his death has already provided a reminder to the world how life isn't promised. No matter how accomplished we are, and how great we are, too. Hopefully, the NBA and the sports world will continue to honor his legacy. His influence on the NBA is beyond profound. He, like Tom Brady, has become the epitome of excellence. They have become the face of hard work that it takes to win a championship. For Bryant, he will forever represent that. Always live life to fullest, and tell the closest ones that you love them. We never know when the day will come where it will be our last breath. Thankfully, LeBron James, who passed Bryant Saturday night on the all-time scoring list, gave him Bryant his roses while he could still smell them. For the people in our lives, let's make sure we do the same. How the new coronavirus could send shockwaves through the world economy - Global News Posted: 26 Jan 2020 04:23 PM PST An international outbreak of respiratory illness sparked by a novel coronavirus has spread from its origins in central China to at least 11 countries, with more than 1,200 confirmed cases — including a presumed case in Canada — and over 40 deaths. Like previous outbreaks, including the SARS virus 17 years ago, the flu-like disease poses a risk to economies around the world as fear and confusion lead to abrupt changes in behaviour, decreased economic activity and a ripple effect across sectors that threatens everything from productivity to consumer prices. The Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome pandemic of 2003 cost the Chinese economy up to US$20 billion, according to the Asian Development Bank, as travel warnings and transit shutdowns discouraged consumption, foreign tourists stayed away and local residents stopped going out. "The travel and tourism sectors were most obviously hit, although that ripples through the entire economy," said Richard Smith, a professor of health economics at the University of Exeter Medical School. "But many effects are short-lived during an outbreak as once the panic is over people go back to business as usual." Chinese authorities clamped down on mass transit during the SARS outbreak, hampering commutes, shopping runs and social outings. The national securities regulatory commission closed stock and futures markets in Shanghai and Shenzhen for two weeks to prevent viral transmission. And Beijing ordered movie theatres, internet cafes and other venues to shut down temporarily while hotels, conference centres, restaurants and galleries saw visitors almost disappear completely. China's response to the current crisis appears to be swifter, and the disease less virulent, but the country now boasts a far more extensive high-speed rail network than it did in 2003, and its economy is six times larger, upping the risk of transmission and the repercussions of an epidemic. "China is the engine of the global economy, churning out goods," said German health economist Fred Roeder. Its critical role in international shipping may be thrown into disarray as authorities begin to hold back some ships from entering the port at Wuhan, a key hub on the Yangtze River. "If they cannot leave it creates huge delays in the supply chain and value chain of businesses all across the world," Roeder said. "It could actually hit the latest generation of smartphone if ports are shutting down." Manufacturing could also feel the crunch as supply chains stall, he said. Roeder has felt firsthand the disruptive power of a pandemic. In the summer of 2003 the teenage Berliner was eagerly gearing up for a United Nations youth conference that would take him to Taipei, but the event was cancelled a few days beforehand due to SARS. The epidemic also sparked layoffs and time away from work. At one point Singapore Airlines asked its 6,600 cabin crew to take unpaid leave. Children stayed home from school, prompting more parents to shirk their job duties and further reducing productivity, said AltaCorp Capital analyst Chris Murray. "I was losing guys left, right and centre as people were quarantined," recalled Murray, based in Toronto — the epicentre of the SARS pandemic outside of Asia. The disease infected 438 Canadians in total and caused 44 deaths in the Toronto area. The economic damage culminated with World Health Organization's one-week travel advisory for the city in April 2003, costing the Canadian economy an estimated $5.25 billion that year. The outbreak of H1N1, or swine flu, in 2009 also sparked work "dislocations," Murray said. "It went from, `Maybe it'll be okay,' to sheer panic." Freelancers and gig economy workers such as musicians or ride-hail drivers may feel the pinch more acutely, since they can't rely on a steady wage when demand shrinks. "It's something that unfortunately has happened before in a similar way and it tends to affect areas like retail," said Carolyn Wilkins, senior deputy governor of the Bank of Canada, said this week. "People don't go out, they don't fly in planes, they don't do as much tourism to the affected areas," she said. The fallout makes workers ranging from servers to wholesale bakers to non-unionized hotel staff more vulnerable. Meanwhile spending or investment plans by larger companies may have to be delayed, said Roeder. It is not clear how lethal the new coronavirus is or even whether it is as dangerous as the ordinary flu, which kills about 3,500 people every year in Canada alone. "Still, we should be extremely worried about the economic effects of this," Roeder said, calling on Chinese authorities to work transparently with Western governments and disease control experts to mitigate the crisis. "At the end of the day, it hits the entire economy. No one benefits from this." © 2020 The Canadian Press Top stories - Google News January 26, 2020 at 10:53AM https://ift.tt/2vrPsmV How the new coronavirus could send shockwaves through the world economy - Global News Top stories - Google News https://ift.tt/2FLTecc Shoes Man Tutorial Pos News Update Meme Update Korean Entertainment News Japan News Update |
MAJINAI(feat. SU-METALが「We are?」と問いかけると、メンバーとオーディエンスは「BABYMETAL!」と叫び、火花が飛び散る中ライブの幕が閉じた。 BABYMETAL「METAL GALAXY WORLD TOUR IN JAPAN EXTRA SHOW『LEGEND - METAL GALAXY』」2020年1月25日 幕張メッセ国際展示場 セットリスト01.
