Watch live: Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern provides Covid-19 update - RNZ Posted: 23 Mar 2020 12:40 AM PDT New Zealand's Covid-19 alert level has risen to three and the country will go into a full lockdown at 11.59pm on Wednesday, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has confirmed. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announces that New Zealand will be going into lockdown for four weeks. Photo: RNZ / Dom Thomas The time will ne required to ensure essential services are in place, and the country will move to level four and will remain at that level for four weeks, Ardern said. The country now has 102 confirmed Covid-19 cases and the Ministry of Health says the virus is spreading in the community. Ardern warned the lockdown could be extended for longer if the spread of the virus was not brought under control. "This will literally save lives, thousands of lives." She said all of NZ must prepare to go in self-isolation now to "break the chain" of community transmission. Schools will be closed from tomorrow. Watch the latest media conference here: The prime minister said non-essential business in NZ must all close, including bars, cafes, restaurants and cinemas. She said these decisions would place the most significant restrictions on New Zealanders' movements in modern history. "I do not underestimate what I'm asking New Zealanders to do, I know it's huge." She confirmed supermarkets, doctors, pharmacies, service stations, and access to essential banking services will be available throughout New Zealand at every alert level. Ardern said the country must give time for supermarkets to restock their shelves. "There will be enough for everyone if we shop normally." Alert level three is where the disease is increasingly difficult to contain. Public venues and non-essential businesses will need to close. Alert level four is when there is sustained transmission. Everyone would need to be isolated from each other. Essential services will continue, but everyone would be asked to stay at home. Ardern said there was a small window to get ahead of the spread of the virus, and "we have to act now". She said people can leave their home for fresh air and for exercise, but it must be solitary and people should only spend time with people they are in self-isolation with. Public transport will be only available for people working on essential services. Ardern warned that things will look worse, before they get better, and in the short term, the number of cases will rise because it is in the community. She said medical modelling without measures showed that tens of thousands of New Zealanders could die of Covid-19. That worse case scenario was "simply intolerable" and would represent the greatest loss of New Zealanders in our history. "As a government, we will do everything in our power to protect you. "Now I'm asking you to do everything you can to protect all of us." She said the failure of anyone to play their part in the coming days would put the lives of others at risk. 吉行淳之介さん、福祉のどちらにも「一途」 宮城まり子さん「一番愛しているのは...」 - J-CASTニュース Posted: 23 Mar 2020 12:37 AM PDT 吉行淳之介さん、福祉のどちらにも「一途」 宮城まり子さん「一番愛しているのは...」 - J-CASTニュース    2020年3月21日に亡くなった宮城まり子さんは、公私ともに「一途の人」だった。    社会福祉の事業家としては、「ねむの木学園」づくりに邁進し、恋の相手としてはただ一人、作家の吉行淳之介さんに惚れ尽くした。 1950年代半ばの宮城さん、吉行さん 生まれて初めて恋をした相手に「奥さんがいる」    宮城さんが、「第三の新人」として注目されていた吉行淳之介さんと知り合ったのは50年代末。女性誌が企画した鼎談がきっかけだった。中原中也、梶井基次郎らを好む文学少女だった宮城さんは、すでに吉行さんの『驟雨』『原色の街』などを読んでいた。知り合って、好きになってから、「奥さんがいる」ことを知った。    宮城さんの演技面の指南役だった演出家の菊田一夫さんによれば、「まり子は昔のいじらしい女学生のような女の子」だったという。    「三十いくつにもなって、生まれて初めて恋をして、その相手が奥さんがいる男性で、そのために身もよじれるほどの切ない思いを味わっているとは、何という馬鹿なことをやる奴だ、と私は思ったが、それを叱る資格は私にもない」（菊田一夫著『芝居づくり四十年』）    宮城さんはいったん別れを決意し、ミュージカルの勉強のため欧米に向かう。パリにいたとき、父から国際電話があった。弟の作曲家、八郎さんが日本で交通事故死したというのだ。「二人でミュージカルを」と誓い、売れない時代から長年苦労を共にしてきた。編曲家として宮城さんの「ヒット曲」を支え、宮城さんにミュージカルの本場への留学を強くすすめてくれた八郎さん。まだ29歳だった。毎日、泣きはらしているときに吉行さんから手紙が届いた。「帰っておいで」。 愛は「マシュマロ」のような    「ねむの木」を始めるにあたって、吉行さんと、「3つの約束」をしたという。「愚痴を言わない」「お金がないと言わない」「やめない」。    その約束を守り、宮城さんは「ねむの木」にのめり込む。歌手、女優をほぼ休業して専念、障害児施設のほか、小・中・高・専門部・幼稚部の特別支援学校を持ち、美術館、工房などもある職員約100人の複合的な福祉施設へと大きく育てた。    宮城さんは1994年の吉行さんが亡くなる1か月前、特別に「ねむの木」から休みをもらう。東京の聖路加病院に泊まり込み、日野原重明医師らとともに最期を看取った。吉行さんの遺言は、「全作品の著作権はまり子に」だった。宮城さんは思い出の品々を集めて、ねむの木に「吉行淳之介文学館」をつくった。自らが選んだ吉行さん作品のアンソロジー『宮城まり子が選ぶ吉行淳之介短編集』も出版した。    吉行さんと、ねむの木の子どもたちとどちらが大切なのか。宮城さんは、そう自問することもあった。 「（私は）淳ちゃんを一番愛している。そしてもう一つの、一番愛しているのはねむの木の子ども」（「私の履歴書」）    愛は、マシュマロみたいなものだ、とも書いていた。二つに分けても、それぞれがふわっと大きくなり、再び同じ大きさになると。 Let's block ads! エンターテインメント会社として「ゲーム」をつくるのではない。むしろ、日常生活や社会への「遊び」の実装が重要だ──。バンダイナムコ研究所イノヴェイション戦略本部フューチャーデザイン部は、「バンダイナムコ」の一般的なイメージからは少しかけ離れた、ユニークな実験を行なっている。"遊び"を通じて、人々の行動変容を促すデザインコンセプト「FUNGUAGE」の社会実装に取り組む同研究所の裏側を、『WIRED』日本版が取材した。 ゲーム、アニメ、おもちゃ、アミューズメント施設、音楽……バンダイナムコグループが手がける事業領域は幅広い。そして、パックマンをはじめとするIP（知的財産）は、多くの人々に認知されている。そんな同グループは、2019年4月に「バンダイナムコ研究所」なる組織を設立した。 荒明浩一｜KOICHI ARAAKE 外資系ゲーム企業を経て、2007年バンダイナムコゲームスへ入社。業務用・家庭用の「鉄拳6」プロジェクトにゲームデザイナー・ディレクターとして参加。17年よりフィールドを研究開発（R&D）へシフトし、アルスエレクトロニカ・フューチャーラボと博報堂とのオープンイノヴェイション・プロジェクトに参画。19年4月よりバンダイナムコ研究所にて「FUNGUAGE」のアーティスティック・リサーチを推進。PHOTOGRAPH BY SHINTARO YOSHIMATSU 「わたしたちが保有する遊びやエンターテインメントに関する知見を最大限に活かしながら、最先端の技術研究を起点に、新しいエンターテインメントの価値を創出していくというミッションを掲げています。グループ内外の企業と協力しながら、PoC（Proof of Concept:概念実証）を行ない、事業化の道筋を模索する研究機関です」 同研究所フューチャーデザイン部にて、FUNGUAGEチームを率いる荒明浩一は、自らのミッションをこう語る。バンダイナムコ研究所が取り組むのは、「ゲーム開発」ではない。むしろ、その外側に飛び出すことで、事業を生み出そうとしている。 「ゲーム・エンターテインメント産業に対して危機感があるんです。既存事業も手広いものの、事業会社としてつねに新しい挑戦をし続けなければなりません。しかし、日々の業務で手一杯の部署も多く、その役割を研究所が引き受けています」 現在、バンダイナムコ研究所には約40名のメンバーが所属しており、荒明とともにデザインコンセプト「FUNGUAGE」の開発と社会実装に挑んでいるのが、同じくフューチャーデザイン部の岩田永司と河野通就だ。岩田はバンダイナムコエンターテインメント（当時のバンダイナムコゲームス）に入社後、社内ツールの開発に関わる傍ら、個人活動としてVRやMRに関するゲーム開発に従事したのち、R&D部門に合流する。 岩田永司｜EIJI IWATA 2011年バンダイナムコゲームスに入社、主に社内ミドルウェアの開発に従事。現在はバンダイナムコ研究所に所属し、xRを主軸として新進の技術や概念を取り入れたエンターテインメントの開発に取り組んでいる。PHOTOGRAPH BY SHINTARO YOSHIMATSU 「Oculus Rift®が発売されたころ、社外のVRコミュニティに参加し、ゲーム制作に取り組んでいました。それを仕事にしたかったのですが、当時はデヴァイスの性能などが追いついておらず難しかった。それから数年が経ち、HoloLens®などのMRデヴァイスの登場や、クオリティの高いVRゲームの開発環境が整ったことで、会社の業務として取り組めることになりました。いまは現実空間にデジタル空間が重なるMRにおける表現を起点に、新しい遊びを考えています」 一方、河野は「人間拡張」をテーマに掲げる東京大学大学院学際情報学環の暦本研究室を経て、19年4月にバンダイナムコ研究所に合流する。 河野通就｜MICHINARI KONO 2014年、慶應義塾大学大学院政策・メディア研究科修士課程修了。メディアアートに関する制作と研究に従事し、国内外多数の展覧会において作品出展を行う。18年、東京大学大学院学際情報学府博士課程単位取得退学、博士（学際情報学）。東京大学大学院情報学環特任研究員を経て、19年よりバンダイナムコ研究所に所属。ヒューマンコンピュータインタラクション（HCI）、人間拡張に関する研究に従事。PHOTOGRAPH BY SHINTARO YOSHIMATSU 「ゲーム開発に従事した経験はないですが、大学院時代のハプティクス（触覚）にまつわる研究は、エンターテインメント業界が応用先のひとつとして考えられます。その領域の融合を目指し、ゲーム業界に着地しました」 「最初は、アートシンキングに懐疑的だったんです」 荒明、岩田、河野の3名が開発を進めてきた「FUNGUAGE」とは、「FUN」と「LANGUAGE」を組み合わせた造語であり、"楽しいつながり"を生み出すことを目指したデザインコンセプトだ。人々のさまざまな行動に遊び心をインストールし、行動変容を促そうとしている。荒明はバンダイナムコ研究所として取り組む必然性をこう語る。 「ゲームをする、アニメを観る、ゲームセンターに行くという行為は、楽しいからやるわけです。つまり、楽しさや遊びを起点に人々は能動的な行動を誘発されている。それらの要素を、これまで遊びとは関係がなかった空間や場所にインストールすると、人々の行動が変わっていくと考えています。その変化の触媒となるのが『FUNGUAGE』なんです」 PHOTOGRAPH BY SHINTARO YOSHIMATSU 「FUNGUAGE」が誕生するきっかけとなったのは、17年にバンダイナムコホールディングスが主導した「PACATHON（パッカソン）」だ。パックマンを題材としたハッカソンであり、「ソーシャル」「教育」「言語」などのキーワードに基づき、グループ横断で組まれた各チームでプロトタイプを制作した。 その際、荒明と岩田は「言語」をテーマとしたチームに参加。ワークショップの企画・設計を担当したのが、アルスエレクトロニカと博報堂であった。彼らが強みとする「アートシンキング・プログラム」や「アーティスティック・リサーチ」の手法を活かし、生み出された4つのプロトタイプは17年のアルスエレクトロニカにて展示された。 「最初はアートシンキングと言われても、ピンと来ませんでした。むしろ懐疑的というか。ワークショップ自体は面白かったものの、自由に研究をしたほうがよいものをつくれると思ったんです」 しかし、荒明はそのプロセスに参加するなかで、考え方が徐々に変わっていったと言葉を続ける。 「わたしがかかわってきたゲーム開発では、ゲームを完成品としてつくり上げ、それを『答え』としてユーザーに提示していました。しかしアートシンキングの場合は、未完成なプロトタイプによる『問い』を提示し、フィードバックを得て、それをブラッシュアップしていく。プロトタイプを通じて議論が生まれれば、思いもよらない方向に発想が向かい、可能性がグッと広がることもある。そのプロセスが新鮮で、面白かったんです」 同じく参加していた岩田も、アートシンキングのプロセスを経験したメリットを次のように話す。「自分がゲームというフォーマットに固執していると気づいたんです。もちろん、ゲームにとらわれずに面白いものをつくりたいという気持ちはありましたが、アートシンキングのプロセスを経たことで、ゲームというフォーマットから解放されて思考できるようになったのが大きいと思います」 また、「問い直す」行為自体も、バンダイナムコ研究所に意外な効用をもたらしている。 「この活動を通して『遊びって何だろう』『ゲームって何だろう』と、その根源的な部分から考え直すことができたんです。わたしたちが強みとしている部分だからこそ、改めて深掘りする必要がある。ゲームをつくってきた人間が暗黙知として継承してきた知見を可視化することも、研究所の役割のひとつかもしれません」 1/4「パックマンを使った新しい言語は、言語自体も楽しいものになるのではないか？」そんな問いに基づいて制作された最初のプロトタイプを、2017年のアルスエレクトロニカ・フェスティヴァルには展示した。パックマンが自身のアヴァターとなり、表現したい感情を選択すると、パックマンがそれを表現してくれるという内容だ。 2/42018年のアルスエレクトロニカ・フェスティヴァルでは『PAC-MAN Meets Deep Space "FUNGUAGE"』を展示。「Deep Space 8K」と呼ばれる、壁面と床面に16m×9mの巨大なプロジェクション映像を展開できるシアター型施設を利用し、パックマンを社会言語（social language）として機能させた。自身のアヴァターがパックマンとなり、自らの行動に即した動きをパックマンが表現してくれる。周囲との感情の共振やインタラクションにより、イヴェントが発生する仕組みも。 3/42019年には、旧郵便局を改装した「POST CITY」にて展示を実施。「FUNGUAGE ROOM」には、先述の「The AI 17年の「PACATHON」を経て、FUNGUAGEのコンセプトを精緻化するために、バンダイナムコ研究所は18年、19年とアルスエレクトロニカ・フェスティヴァルに続けて出展した。 PHOTOGRAPH BY SHINTARO YOSHIMATSU 20年2月に東京ミッドタウン六本木で開催された「未来の学校祭」には、「"Humanized Canon" composed by Escalator」を展示。パブリックな空間にFUNGUAGEをインストールすると、どんなPOSITIVE＆FUNな変化を生み出すことができるか？という問いを起点に、東京ミッドタウンのエスカレーターに「FUNGUAGE」をインストールした。 エスカレーターに人間が続けて乗ると、美しいハーモニーが鳴り響く。一方、エスカレーターを急いで歩いて登ろうとする人が出現すると、その奏でられていたハーモニーが突如消えてしまうという仕組みを制作し、エスカレーターの安全利用を促すと同時に、上階への新たなる導線づくりを実装した。 「未来の学校祭」では、「FUN DRIVENが世界を変える～日常を変える実践～」と題したトークセッションに荒明が登壇した。PHOTOGRAPH BY SHINTARO YOSHIMATSU 社会実装を進めるうえで重要なのは、定量的なデータを集めること。今回の展示では、エスカレーターの評価測定を実施した。ほかのエスカレーターと比較し、展示したエスカレーターの利用者数は増えたのか。展示していない期間と比較し、利用者数は増えたのか……河野はその成果を次のように話す。 「測定の結果、今回の展示作品が集客効果に貢献することが統計的に明らかになったんです。つまり、FUNGUAGEをインストールすると集客効果につながります、と今後は言えます」 FUNGUAGEによって行動変容を促す際に、バンダイナムコの武器となるのが保有するIPだ。荒明は「FUNGUAGE」の事業化への道筋についても、明かしてくれた。 「ユーザーとのタッチポイントにおいてこそ、IPの本領は発揮されると思っています。今回の『未来の学校祭』で展示したエスカレーターは、音が鳴るから『なんとなく楽しそう』と思ってもらえるけれど、そこにキャラクターのIPが加われば、どうでしょう？　キャラクターを目的に、そこに足を運ぶかもしれない。『FUNGUAGE』とバンダイナムコグループが保有するIPを組み合わせることで、そういったチャンスを捉え、事業化を進めていければと考えています。これからは『FUNGUAGE』のコンセプトに共感し、ともにイノヴェイションを起こしたいプレイヤーを巻き込んでいきたいです。関心ある企業には、『ぜひバンダイナムコ研究所と組みませんか』と声をかけたいですね」 影山貴彦のテレビ燦々：今こそエンターテインメント 癒やしの泉、知恵絞って - 毎日新聞 Posted: 23 Mar 2020 12:07 AM PDT 　テレビのニュース、情報番組の視聴率がアップしている。言うまでもなく新型コロナウイルス感染拡大により、私たちの不安が高まっていることが理由だ。ぜひ視聴者が求める情報を適切に伝えてほしいと願っている。 　ただ残念ながら、一部には私たちの不安をあおるだけにしか思えない番組もある。「ニュースを見ているとつらくなるのでテレビを消しました」という声を聞く。最近になって少し改善されてきたようだが、視聴者の痛んだ心に寄り添うことの大切さを忘れないでいただきたい。 　私たちの心を癒やすため、エンターテインメントの存在はとても大きい。だが、多くのイベントが中止、延期となり、バラエティー番組は「無観客」での収録を強いられ、ロケも思うようにできない状況になっているなど、関係者は幾重もの苦労を背負っている。 Let's block ads! Racism and fear in viral times - Bangkok Post Posted: 22 Mar 2020 11:14 PM PDT On Feb 24, a 23-year-old Singaporean student studying in the UK was attacked by two teenagers, the BBC reported. The selfies he took of his bloodied nose and swollen eyes went viral on social media, along with his description of the incident. The shocking images stirred widespread discussion among Asian communities online. "I don't want your coronavirus in my country," one of the attackers shouted at him. As I plan to embark on another academic journey in Europe this year, I am having some troubling thoughts. It had never occurred to me that my race could endanger my life. As right-wing politicians acquire more clout in more countries, we are hearing more and more about Asians being discriminated against. Now the Covid-19 pandemic has become a scalpel that scratches away at mutual trust and respect between people of different races. Bias toward Asians, especially anyone who looks Chinese, is ugly and open. Some of my Taiwanese friends studying in Europe have posted accounts of racist incidents they encountered. They get yelled at, pointed at by random people on the street, and judged just because they are wearing protective masks. "Seeing us, a group of Asian people, in the restaurant, some people just left directly," says a Taiwanese friend who studies in Turkey. It has almost become a norm to be singled out for their race, and they are getting used to it. Recently, a Dutch secondary school in Belgium posted a photo of a group of students dressed in traditional Chinese costumes. "We want to apologise explicitly because we had not correctly estimated the consequences," he wrote. I could not help but wonder what that initial "estimation" was? Just an innocent joke that wouldn't hurt anyone's feelings? When is the world going to learn? How many times will we keep repeating the same mistakes? As Covid-19 spreads worldwide, many people are generalising Asians as they vent their collective fear. While anxiety and panic are understandable, mocking and assaulting Asian people is not going to accelerate the development of a treatment. The virus is being used as an excuse to openly discriminate against Asians, positioning us at the bottom of the victim totem pole. Unfortunately, even some Asians are catching the discrimination bug. Paulo Dalpian, a friend of mine who teaches at a Bangkok university with many students from outside Thailand said some of his Chinese-looking students made a point of telling their classmates they didn't travel to China during the semester break. He believes it was a gesture to seek understanding and acceptance from the peers. "It is not overt racism as no one directly asked whether they had been to China. But it is a result of structural racism, like an expectation that you should explain yourself if you are Chinese," he told me. People tend to be intimidated by things they don't understand. That's why we were afraid of feminism, homosexuality, and HIV in the beginning; some people still are. Today, Covid-19 is a new trigger, and Asians happen to be the target. Living in countries that supposedly cherish the virtues of democracy, freedom and diversity, some people are spewing slurs and hatred toward Asians without any basis in fact. Seriously, how shameful is that? It starts with the supposed leader of the free world. Photos of typed notes for a recent speech by US President Donald Trump showed "Corona" crossed out and "Chinese" written in the president's handwriting. What an example to set for the world. I'm not pleading for any special treatment for Asians as the virus is something that challenges all humanity equally. The casualties, as well as the panic the virus has caused to the public, are tragic. But what is even more unfortunate is the hatred and misunderstanding that people around the world are directing at each other. The outbreak will fade in time, but the mental wounds left by discrimination will remain. In the end, ignorance could lead to even more catastrophic consequences to humanity than the virus does. Instead of giving in to blind fear, as well as bias against certain races, thus jeopardising the possibility of cooperation between peoples, we should focus more on fighting the pandemic itself, which is supposed to be our collective goal. 【新体操】武庫川女子大学新体操部が部員16名で創り出す最上級のエンターテインメントに元気をもらおう！（椎名桂子） - Yahoo!ニュース - Yahoo!ニュース Posted: 22 Mar 2020 10:37 PM PDT ついにIOCからも、安部総理の口からも、「東京五輪の延期も検討」という言葉が出た。 おそらく。 かなり高い確率で、7月24日に東京五輪が始まることはないのだろう。 さらに、そうなった以上は、日本でも今以上に行動が制限されることも十分に考えられる。 現時点でも、高校選抜をはじめ、数多くの演技会、発表会、大会などが中止または延期になっている。 多くの人が残念な思いをしているのに、今の状態がさらに、いやあるいはより厳しいものになっていつまで続くかわからない。 私が新体操に関わるようになってからすでに20年以上が経過しているが、ここまでの事態は初めてだ。 気安く「頑張りましょう！」「やまない雨はありませんよ」なんて言えない。 言えないので、せめて、少しでも元気が出るものをと考えたときに浮かんだのが、昨年12月1日に、武庫川女子大学で見た演技発表会の集団演技だった。 武庫川女子大学は、新体操の強豪校ではある。 西日本では、常にトップ。全日本でもメダル争いには絡んでいたが、なかなか優勝には手が届かずにいた。 それが、2018年の全日本選手権で初の団体総合優勝。2019年はユニバーシアード代表決定戦にも勝ち、ユニバーシアードでも銅メダル獲得と大躍進の１年だった。 そんな勢いのある武庫川女子だが、もともと演技発表会のエンディング作品が「凄い！」という評判はあった。 まずなにが凄いのか、というと、その会場だ。 この体育館が圧巻のエンターテイメント会場に変身する ごくごく普通の体育館だ。 観客席もパイプ椅子を並べてあるだけで手作り感満載。 が、このごく普通の体育館だからこそ、できることがある。 以前からホールなどを借りて開催することも検討されているそうだが、学生たちが「ここでやりたい」「ここでなければできない」とこだわりを持っているのだと言う。 そのこだわりは、演技を見ればわかる。 たとえば、演技中盤で、フロアに向かって次々にフープが流れ込んでくる場面がある。 これは、長いゴースを、２階のキャットウォークからフロアに向かって張り、その上をフープを転がしているのだ。 最後には、選手たちの背景になっている壁を跳び越してフープが飛んでくるが、これも2階から選手が投げている。 （団体での交換さながらに後ろ向きで投げていた。） 2階からフープを転がす選手 このキャットウォークを、最大限に利用して、なんの変哲もない体育館を、シアターにしてしまうのが武庫川女子大学の演技発表会なのだ。 巨大なゴースと照明で幻想的な空間を描き出す 場面転換の際に、観客席の上を赤い巨大なゴースがおおっていく。観客がその通りすぎていくゴースを目で追っているうちに、正面ではまったく違う物語が始まる。その見事さ。その巨大ゴースも部員たちが走って動かしているのだ。 照明器具を使用はしているが、扱っているのも部員たち、またはOGや指導者などだ。 演技中盤には、大きなフープを使ってのエアリアルも披露するが、これも、自前でやっているというから凄い。 大勢の観客に、いいものを見せたいという気持ち、自分たちの納得できる、思い出に残る作品を創りたいという思いは、演技を制作、演出する側の誰もがもつはずだ。 ただ、人数や会場、予算など様々な障害があり、あきらめざるを得ないことも多い。 「このくらいでいいか。仕方ないよ」と妥協した経験は誰にでもあるだろう。 しかし、ここの発表会からは「あきらめない姿勢」が伝わってくる。 十分な条件が揃っていなくても、やれる方法を工夫して、努力すれば、きっとできる！　という信念が感じられる。 部員16名で、これだけの演技をやりきるには、演じることに専念できる選手はほとんどいないはずだ。 フロアで踊っていた選手が、裏手の階段を駆け上って、ゴースをもちキャットウォークを全力疾走する。 そして、また階段を駆け下りてフロアでは笑顔で踊っているのだ。 その体力、集中力が凄まじい。 2018年は全日本選手権での優勝も経験した武庫川女子大学だが、2017年には全日本選手権進出を逃すという苦い経験もしている。 当時は部員数も今より少なかったが、それでも演技発表会はいつも通り、華やかに盛大に、そしてやはりエンディングの演技はスペクタクルなものだった。 競技成績の良し悪しにかかわらず、このエンディング作品が武庫川女子の新体操部の誇りであり根幹なのだと思う。 どんなときでも、これをやり切る力があるから、2018年からのV字回復もあったのだ。 日本有数の部員数を誇る体育大学の発表会と同じようにはできない。 でも、だからこそ、自分たちにしかできないものをやろう！　と先輩たちが積み重ねてきた工夫は、後輩たちに脈々と受け継がれ、今のこの演技がある。 新体操に関わっている人ならもちろん、一般の人であっても、武庫川女子大学新体操部の演技発表会は、ぜひ一度見てほしい、体験してほしい発表会だ。 今は、先が見えないけれど。 あきらめなければ、きっと誰にでも明るい明日は来る。 そう信じて、彼女たちのように強くたくましく前に進みたいと思う。 それは武庫川女子だけでない。 今までもいつも、なにか辛いことがあっても、新体操に打ち込んでいる選手たち、そして彼女たち、彼らが見せてくれる演技を見ることで元気をもらってきた。 今も、そうだ。 新体操には、いやスポーツにはそういう力がある。 私はそう信じている。 ＜映像・写真提供/武庫川女子大学新体操部＞ Let's block ads! Teachers call out lack of clear direction from government - 2GB Posted: 22 Mar 2020 08:40 PM PDT The NSW Teachers Federation has called out confusing and contradictory advice for schools from the state and federal governments. Despite Prime Minister Scott Morrison's assurances that schools would remain open under current medical advice, the ACT and Victoria have closed schools, while NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has advised parents to keep their children home. "I think the Premier has created a moral dilemma for parents," NSW Teachers Federation President Angelo Gavrielatos tells Deborah Knight. "Leaving it up to parents to decide is not appropriate under these circumstances." Mr Gavrielatos says a lack of sanitary resources like hand sanitiser and soap in some schools, and difficulties in implementing online learning, have exposed "serious access and equity issues". Broadway actress Ruthie Ann Miles is pregnant - The Associated Press Posted: 22 Mar 2020 06:17 PM PDT LOS ANGELES (AP) — Broadway actress Ruthie Ann Miles, who tragically lost her daughter and unborn child two years ago, is pregnant. The Tony-winner shared on Twitter Saturday that she is due this spring. In 2018, Miles and her 4-year-old daughter Abigail were struck by a vehicle on a New York street that killed Abigail and a friend's 1-year-old son. Miles was pregnant at the time of the crash and lost her unborn daughter, who she planned to name Sophia, two months later. In her Twitter message announcing the pregnancy, Miles thanked those who supported her and her husband Jonathan Blumenstein after the crash and let them grieve for the past two years. Mobile health clinics and outreach workers adjust to coronavirus - Charlotte Post Posted: 22 Mar 2020 05:54 PM PDT PHOTO – NORTH CAROLINA HEALTH NEWS The COVID-19 outbreak has prompted some of NC's outreach workers and clinicians at mobile clinics to cancel or adjust the services they offer. As coronavirus abruptly overturns nearly every facet of life in North Carolina, agencies whose providers care for people in the community are adjusting or stopping their services. Health care has transcended brick-and-mortar clinics or even hospitals in many communities. Medical services, including dental care, screenings, syringe exchanges, and even primary care, now take place at community events, schools and homes. But the extent of health care service in the community doesn't stop there. For instance, in North Carolina, crisis response teams respond to mental health emergencies at people's homes. It's hard to gauge the number of workers who fit into the category of mobile care providers in North Carolina, but the website Mobile Health Map estimates that more than 40 mobile clinics operate in the state, including dental vans, organizations that screen for STDs, health care providers who make home visits, and more. The site does not track syringe exchange programs, but as of December 2019, 31 programs covered 45 North Carolina counties with mobile and stationary syringe exchanges. The coronavirus pandemic poses a unique challenge for these providers. Some mobile clinics see patients in specially outfitted vans or trailers, where social distancing can be difficult to achieve. A patient with flu-like symptoms would be difficult to isolate in a limited space. Community health workers who provide at-home services may unknowingly venture into the home of a patient with COVID-19, especially if that person is still not showing symptoms. With face masks and hand sanitizers in short supply, workers may find themselves without much protection. As social distancing efforts have already extended to schools, bars, restaurants and workplaces, providers at mobile clinics and other outreach services are considering their options. Several, such as the New Hanover County mobile dental clinic and UNC's mobile clinic, have already suspended their services. Others have modified their offerings for now but said they may reconsider down the line. Shutdowns, cancellations and revamped care School closures prompted providers who normally visit schools to temporarily suspend their mobile services. This is the case with the mobile dental clinic at New Hanover County, said spokeswoman Jessica Loeper. "We will continue services as soon as possible, and will certainly refer any patients as best we can if there are pressing care needs in the meantime," she said in an email. Other outreach workers are revamping their approaches but said services will continue for now. At the North Carolina Harm Reduction Coalition, an organization that operates several syringe exchanges across the state, staff members decided to continue providing services for as long as possible. "We don't want to disrupt services, that's going to cause additional harm," said Loftin Wilson, rural program coordinator at the North Carolina Harm Reduction Coalition. "We're seeing very vulnerable people." Older people and those with underlying conditions are at greater risk for complications from a COVID-19 infection, according to the CDC, and Wilson said many syringe exchange participants fall into one of these groups. But the prospect of completely discontinuing syringe exchange services, Wilson added, could also cause harm since using dirty needles is associated with transmitting HIV and hepatitis B infections. To stem large gatherings, Wilson said the coalition suspended needle exchanges in fixed sites and ended events and support groups, instead opting for mobile outreach. Syringe exchange workers have been instructed to exchange syringes with participants in the open air, rather than go in people's homes, he added, and to wear gloves as they pack syringes and wound care supplies. The coalition may be compelled to discontinue its syringe exchange services altogether at some point, Wilson said this week.  In the meantime, staff members are preparing participants for that possibility by giving them more supplies than usual. Staff members haven't yet encountered anyone who they suspect has COVID-19, but Wilson said workers will help participants get help if that happens. "We'd be doing our normal sort of linkage of trying to make sure people are connected to the appropriate resource," he added. From care to COVID-19 testing CommWell Health, a community center that normally offers primary and dental care in mobile vans, has converted their three mobile clinics to support outdoor testing sites for COVID-19, said CEO Pamela Tripp. Patients aren't allowed in the van, said Tamara Dunn, chief operating officer and chief nursing officer at the organization, and testing is done outside. The test itself, a nasal or throat swab, can induce coughing and sneezing. "If we take them [patients] in the mobile unit then you'd have to shut that down for a certain amount of time," she said. The CDC recommends that contaminated areas be shut down for a period of time before cleaning to allow the virus to settle on surfaces, Dunn said. Shifting to phone when possible At Doctors Making Housecalls, a 125-doctor primary care mobile clinic for seniors with complex medical needs across the state, clinicians have also made adjustments, said CEO and co-founder Alan Kronhaus. Kronhaus, who is also a primary care physician, said doctors in the practice have shifted to phone consultations and virtual visits when possible and they wear protective masks when visiting homes of patients with respiratory illnesses. Ideally, Kronhaus said, physicians would wear masks when they visit every patient, but shortages worldwide have prompted clinicians to conserve their supplies. Even with these measures, the practice averages roughly 200,000 visits annually, Kronhaus said. He isn't sure how long the masks will last. For now, he said, clinicians will continue to make visits to patient homes when necessary and will offer support via phone and email when visits aren't possible. His practice is also working on purchasing more masks, he added, but if masks aren't available and a patient is very sick, clinicians would likely instruct them to go to an emergency department. You could only hear it on one website, there was no track information, you couldn't pause or fast-forward through any of it, and it was gone by later that day, but Glover had successfully given us all a little something to think about other than that other thing we're all thinking about. It was cool. But now, he's done something even better: He actually released the album! Plus, you can hear the whole thing in the embed below as one single track (or chopped up like a normal album on your preferred music listening service, though it doesn't appear to be on iTunes yet). We were initially under the impression that the album would be called Donald Glover Presents, since that was the only information on the aforementioned website, but now we know it's officially called 3.15.20, which was… the date last week when he briefly put it online and not the actual release date. So that's a little weird, but maybe the day has some other significance. Or maybe Glover just wanted to immortalize the day that the album was only on a website for a little bit. Advertisement As Rolling Stone points out, most of the songs are just named after the time stamp for where they land in the full play-through of the album. Also, as people who heard it last week pointed out, the album includes appearances from SZA, Ariana Grande, and 21 Savage.
