Mobile Clinic Brings Free Coronavirus Testing To Sacramento Homeless Shelters - CBS Sacramento Posted: 30 Apr 2020 12:19 AM PDT SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A local health clinic is traveling throughout Sacramento County to provide free coronavirus testing for Sacramento County's homeless population. Elica Health Centers is using one of their three mobile clinics to target eight different shelters with the highest populations around the county. "I feel like it is great for anyone to be able to be tested if they feel like they should be," said Aaron Luna, resident at Capitol Park Hotel Temporary Shelter. The RV turned Mobile Health clinic is at Luna's front door at the Capitol Park Hotel Temporary Shelter. Luna has lived at the downtown Sacramento shelter since last September. He is one of more than 70 homeless residents at the shelter that were tested Wednesday. "I'm out every day exposed to people," Luna explained. "I haven't felt sick and anyway so it wasn't a huge concern but it is just nice to have the prohibitive knowledge." READ: Newsom: 15,000 Hotel Rooms To House Homeless In California Shelter guests are first pre-screened and required to put on a mask, then they are taken to a tent to be tested. Results are available anytime between one to three days after they're submitted, according to the Sacramento County Department of Health Services. "Bringing as many of these necessary units on-site to minimize the need for folks to leave to seek services elsewhere is very important," said Meghan Marshall with the Sacramento County Department of Health Services. According to Elica Health, the shelters selected aside from Capitol Park Hotel include; STEP Shelter, Next Move Family Shelter, Common Ground VOA Family Shelter, North 5th, and North A. The new service is a partnership between Elica Health Centers and Sacramento County. Elica Health Centers provides the mobile unit, staff and nurses. The nonprofit is paying for the services through federal funds, while the county is paying for kits and up to 500 tests for those in shelters with existing funding. ALSO: 9-Year-Old Girl Buys Pizzas For Stockton Homeless Shelter Aide Long, Director of Elica Health mobile medicine, said the response from the homeless community has been positive, testing more than 100 people in their three first days. "Seeing those happy faces and the willingness to be tested was very rewarding, Long explained. "They are very willing to get tested because they know how dangerous it is," she said. Luna said without the mobile unit, he would have not only gone untested but without ever knowing if he could be unknowingly infecting other people. "It's definitely a concern, you don't want to be around people if you're going to infect them," he said. The mobile clinic will continue to test at the eight shelters for two weeks. The plan to come back once a week to provide preventative care and treatment until the pandemic ends. For Nepalis, this year's Ramadan is something they've never experienced before - The Kathmandu Post Posted: 30 Apr 2020 12:18 AM PDT On April 24, the hilal (crescent moon) marked the starting of the holy month of Ramadan for Muslim communities across the world. This year, however, with the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic, the festival's usual celebrations, which united families and friends, will not have the same charm. "We have never ever observed Ramadan like this. For us, Ramadan is a month full of communal affairs. But this year, it's totally different," says Asgar Ali, a 50-year-old business person from Asan. Every year on the ninth month of the lunar Islamic calendar, the 1.8 billion Muslims across the world observe Ramadan, also known as Ramazan. They believe that in this month, the Qur'an, the holy book of Islam, was revealed to Prophet Muhammad, the messenger of the Allah. To observe this holy month, during the entire period, Muslims fast from dawn to dusk while also adhering to rules like not drinking, smoking, involving in sexual relations as well as not engaging in physical fights. "Most of us fast during Ramadan as fasting, also known as sawm, is considered as one of the five pillars of Islam," says Ali. "While there are exceptions, like pregnant women as well as those who are ill and children who haven't reached puberty aren't encouraged to fast, but those who do fast try to do so sincerely as it is believed that our thawab, spiritual rewards, will get multiplied if we fast in this holy month." Although the first meal before sunrise, suhoor, is eaten in the presence of immediate family members, iftar, the evening meal is a communal affair: friends and family members get together to break the day's fast, many even have their meals at the mosque. But due to the current pandemic, governments across the globe, including Nepal, have asked the Muslim community to hold iftar inside their premises only. "Ramadan's true essence lies in celebrating in each other's company or in groups," says Mohd Irfan, 27, a social activist from Nepalgunj. "But this time we are doing only with limited family members and also with limited food, as we are trying to reduce going outdoors too much. Due to this, we aren't getting enough food items such as dates, sewai and Rooh Afza, that are normally consumed during this month." Similarly one of the specialities during this month is a special prayer called tarawih performed in the mosques. While the followers of Islam are expected to pray five times every day as salat (praying five times daily in a set form is also one of the pillars of Islam), during the month of Ramadan, tarawih is the additional set of prayers performed by the imam, a spiritual person who leads the prayers at mosques after the final prayer. However, with the ongoing coronavirus crisis, the Muslim communities across Nepal are performing tarawih, where the one juz (section) of the Quran is recited, at their respective homes instead of the mosques."For us, because of the pandemic, our homes have become our mosques," says Kausar Shah, a former lawmaker. "We recite our prayers inside our homes in order to sincerely follow the rules of physical distancing. Similarly in some houses, the head of the families are reciting tarawih for the continuation of the special rituals performed during this holy month," says Shah. Just like Nepal, other countries like Saudi Arabia and Indonesia are also strictly adhering to physical distancing rules to control the outbreak. However, to maintain their traditions and rituals, many Muslim communities from different parts of the world are using the internet to stay connected to each other and even to perform the rituals of Ramadan. For instance, some mosques in the United Kingdom are live streaming prayers. Similarly, many are using the video conferencing application Zoom to create their perfect iftar experiences in the virtual world, including sharing recipes and playing games. A festival that used to be filled with cheers and laughter is today being observed inside closed doors, with only immediate family members. This year, Ramadan feels incomplete for many Muslims. "This year's Ramadan started without its charm and is really different from what we used to experience before the pandemic," says Irfan. Even iftar is not the same now, says Ali. "Previously, I used to enjoy iftar because it united my community. Now we aren't inviting even our friends from our locality, as we have to follow the physical distancing rules," says Ali. The mosques which previously used to hold communal prayers and iftars are largely empty as well. Likewise, there is also a worrying rise of islamophobia happening in the nation, with online portals and even influencers people, including journalists, taking the narrative of blaming the Muslim population for the spread of coronavirus outbreak in the country. Regardless of the external pressure, the Muslim community is observing Ramadan, even if it lacks communal celebrations, as for them the holy month is also a time of self-discipline, spirituality, introspection, and appreciation for generosity and solidarity. "Diseases don't have religion. We all need to maintain our solidarity in this difficult time and show compassion for each other. In all our duas [prayers], we are praying for our country to be free from the coronavirus," says Shah. Mother of Chicago man who threw house party says she's horrified by viral video - NBC News Posted: 29 Apr 2020 11:47 PM PDT The mother of a 26-year-old man who threw a Chicago house party in violation of shelter-in-place orders said she was horrified by the video of the gathering. The video of the Friday night party went viral over the weekend and drew widespread outrage, including from Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot. Lightfoot blasted the party after seeing footage of people crammed together in the home, calling the event "reckless and utterly unacceptable" on Sunday. The homeowner, who is a first responder and asked to remain anonymous, told NBC Chicago on Tuesday that she was working a 24-hour shift when her son hosted the party. She said she came home to a clean house and was completely unaware of the party until police arrived. Let our news meet your inbox. The news and stories that matters, delivered weekday mornings. "And after that, some police came to my house and said, 'Were you aware that it was a party at your house?' And I was like, 'No, I wasn't aware.' And then they showed me the video," she said. The woman told NBC Chicago that she was horrified by the video and furious with her son. She hadn't seen her family in nearly two months due to the risk of exposure to coronavirus associated with her job. "So if I'm doing social distancing, then I most definitely don't condone this type of behavior," she said. Her son, Janeal Wright, admitted to NBC Chicago that he knew his mother wouldn't be home and deactivated their digital doorbell to keep her from receiving notifications. Wright said he only initially invited about 20 to 30 people to celebrate the lives of friends who died of gun violence, but the party quickly blew up to host almost 200 people. He blamed his ignorance on the severity of the coronavirus pandemic on "being young." "It really hasn't been hitting home for us like that, but now I see the error of everything," Wright said. Chicago police issued a citation for violation for disorderly conduct to Wright's mother on Monday. "The Chicago Department of Public Health will follow up with the owners of the property and attendees to ensure any health risks that could have arisen from this party are monitored and mitigated," police said in a statement. Illinois residents have been under an order to stay at home since March 21 in an effort to help slow the spread of coronavirus. The state has had more than 48,000 cases and at least 2,125 deaths associated with the global pandemic as of Wednesday. 2020-04-30 03:00:00Z https://news.google.com/__i/rss/rd/articles/CBMiNWh0dHBzOi8vYXYud2F0Y2guaW1wcmVzcy5jby5qcC9kb2NzL25ld3MvMTI1MDI2Ni5odG1s0gFAaHR0cHM6Ly9hdi53YXRjaC5pbXByZXNzLmNvLmpwL2RvY3MvbmV3cy8xMjUwLzI2Ni9hbXAuaW5kZXguaHRtbA?oc=5 |

AT&T, T-Mobile butt heads with Comcast, Wi-Fi in 5.9 GHz melee - FierceWireless Posted: 29 Apr 2020 09:19 PM PDT The 5.9 GHz band, aka "the mess," is at the center of several fights as the FCC considers rejiggering the band for Wi-Fi after years of the spectrum laying mostly fallow. The FCC voted last year to advance a proposal that would reallocate large portions of the 5.9 GHz band, dedicating spectrum to both unlicensed and C-V2X technologies. The FCC's Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) would make the lower 45 MHz (5.85-5.895 GHz) available for unlicensed use, which Chairman Ajit Pai said will "fully realize Wi-Fi's potential." Reply comments came due Monday, triggering the latest round of arguments. Last week, the FCC adopted a plan to make 1,200 megahertz of 6 GHz spectrum, which is next door to the 5.9 band, available for unlicensed use. That was considered a watershed moment for the Wi-Fi industry, and while that was a complicated proceeding, the 5.9 GHz band has been described as even more so. RELATED: Editor's Corner—6 GHz looks far more promising these days than 5.9 GHz In this latest round, the Alliance for Automotive Innovation filed comments urging the FCC to back off its plans for using the 5.9 GHz for unlicensed uses, pointing to Wi-Fi's win in the 6 GHz band as one reason to do so. The alliance wants the entire 75 megahertz available for automotive purposes, and it suggests that for a period of five years, the industry should study DSRC and C-V2X, after which it will decide which technology will be permitted to use the band. "After a single technology is selected, a ten-year phaseout period will ensue, whereby the technology that does not prevail will retain its initial exclusive 20 MHz allocation in either the upper or lower portion of the band," the Alliance told the commission in its filing (PDF). "After this ten-year phaseout, the chosen technology will have full access to all 75 MHz of the 5.9 GHz band." WifiForward, which represents the likes of Comcast, Charter Communications and other Wi-Fi stakeholders, said "no way" to that. "We cannot wait another 20 years to put these unused airwaves to work and it's concerning that some are continuing to drag their feet," the organization said. "The proposed plan calls for further delays, giving the auto industry another 5 years just to think about which auto safety technology they like best, an indefinite period subject to an uncertain process to actually choose between DSRC and CV2X, and then another 10 years to phase-out whichever technology is not preferred. American broadband and automotive consumers deserve better. The FCC's work to modernize the 5.9 GHz band is part of the ongoing commitment to next-generation Wi-Fi 6 and 5G connectivity and this spectrum is a vital piece of the puzzle." A group of public interest organizations – including New America's Open Technology Institute (OTI), the American Library Association, the Benton Foundation, Next Century Cities and Public Knowledge – suggests (PDF) it would be a good idea to relocate Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) operations to a different, potentially better band to ensure that both Wi-Fi and other unlicensed services and auto safety systems have the spectrum they need to optimize consumer welfare. The 4.9 GHz band, where 50 megahertz of "grossly underutilized spectrum" already is allocated exclusively for public safety, should be a prime candidate for the new ITS band, according to the group. "The work-and-learn-from-home crisis has amplified the urgency of boosting capacity for Wi-Fi," said Michael Calabrese, director of the OTI's Wireless Future Project, in a statement. "The gigabit-fast Wi-Fi channel the Commission can create by reallocating the lower portion of the virtually unused 5.9 GHz band is high priority because it can be used immediately with existing gear and provides better coverage than any 6 GHz channel for both homes and rural broadband. The STAs the FCC recently granted to WISPs to use that 45 megahertz right now is a proof of concept. We believe all five commissioners are committed to moving this proceeding to a close as rapidly as possible." RELATED: FCC gives WISPs access to 5.9 GHz for COVID-19 response In its filing (PDF), Comcast told the commission that it's on the right path in allocating more unlicensed spectrum for the nation's connectivity needs. The demand for Wi-Fi calling has increased dramatically as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, indicating that mobile networks will continue to rely on unlicensed spectrum. Comcast also noted that Wi-Fi calling minutes on AT&T's network have increased 76% over average levels, and Comcast's own Xfinity Mobile has seen a 49% increase in Wi-Fi offloading from its mobile devices compared to levels on March 1. Comcast reiterated that the overwhelming majority of customers connect to its broadband network using a Wi-Fi connection, and access to more unlicensed spectrum is critical to allow consumers to access the full speeds and capacity of wireline networks and alleviate the threat of a Wi-Fi bottleneck. T-Mobile, AT&T weigh in On the flip side, T-Mobile is urging the FCC to make the entire 5.850-5.925 GHz band available for licensed cellular Vehicle to Everything (C-V2X) technologies. It also suggests that because a significant amount of spectrum soon will be made available for unlicensed use via the 6 GHz band, there's no need to reserve a portion of the 5.9 GHz band for unlicensed operations. "Commenters agree that in order to ensure the success of C-V2X, the Commission should not split any spectrum in the 5.9 GHz band designated for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) between C-V2X and Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) technologies," T-Mobile stated in its filing (PDF). "In fact, the Commission should reject calls to reserve any portion of the 5.9 GHz band for DSRC." There's been an ongoing fight between auto makers – some of them want to stick with DSRC and others are clearly for C-V2X – and the cellular industry as to whether DSRC should even continue as a technology. Some say DSRC had its chance – over 20 years – to make a case for itself, and little happened until C-V2X started eyeing the spectrum. C-V2X is a newer technology, and the thinking on the part of its advocates is it's more future-forward. RELATED: Israeli startup Autotalks launches global V2X chipset with DSRC, C-V2X Reallocating C-V2X to a different band outside the 5.9 GHz range is "simply infeasible," according to T-Mobile. "The commission should therefore preserve the 5.9 GHz band for automotive applications and reevaluate its proposal to allocate spectrum in the band for unlicensed operations." AT&T agreed on that score, saying commenters in the docket "overwhelmingly" oppose the reallocation of the lower 45 MHz of the 5.9 GHz band to unlicensed operation because Wi-Fi is not its best and most efficient use. AT&T also said that while MVNOs, which lack network facilities, may have a vested interest in offloading as much data traffic as possible to Wi-Fi networks, that is often not the case for facilities-based mobile network operators (MNOs). "In the last decade, facilities-based MNOs, which handle the vast majority of data traffic, have increased their spectrum inventories, densified their LTE and LTE-Advanced networks and begun deploying 5G networks, dispelling the notion that facilities-based MNOs want or need to significantly rely on Wi-Fi offload," the operator told the commission (PDF). FCC Commissioners Michael O'Rielly and Jessica Rosenworcel were early advocates of taking a fresh look at the 5.9 GHz band for unlicensed purposes. O'Rielly regularly defers to the chairman when it comes to the timing of agenda items, but he sounded optimistic in a tweet this week, saying "there should be no doubt" that reallocating the 5.9 GHz band will generate great benefits for American consumers and the broader unlicensed community. "Let's get this done this summer," he said.

Our Lady of Peace actress in the Senior Spotlight - 10News Posted: 29 Apr 2020 08:01 PM PDT Our Lady of Peace senior Maddie Shallan joined the theater department her freshman year and it's easy to see she found a comfort zone on the stage. She says she thanks her parents for steering her in the that direction "My parents told me I needed to do something to make friends, and to be busy after school. I thought that theater looked really fun, even though at the time, I had terrible stage fright." And while she enjoys every role she's played, it's the friendships she's created that have been a real life changer. "It sounds cliche, but being apart of theater is like having a second family. I've made some of the greatest friends, who are all supportive and loving. It's through theater I've been able to become one hundred times more confident with myself, and I'm really happy with the person who I am today." But because of the Coronavirus pandemic, Maddie and the rest of the OLP theater department missed out on their final curtain call. "It really is heartbreaking to see our last production get canceled, because there is so much hard work that goes into it. There is also the fact that we never got the chance to say good-bye after our actual last performance, because we didn't know that was the end." Actress Lauren Socha says praise for care home work is bizarre - BBC News Posted: 29 Apr 2020 07:01 PM PDT Bafta-winning actress Lauren Socha has been working as a care assistant during the coronavirus outbreak - but called praise for doing so "a bit bizarre". She was called "amazing" after tweeting about her job, but insisted she was no different from her colleagues and others helping during the pandemic. The Misfits actress had recently finished filming a BBC TV series. Socha, from Derby, has been working as a care assistant alongside her acting career since she was 21. Now 29, Socha said her work in a Derbyshire care home was "massively rewarding". "I just find all this a bit bizarre, the recognition for it when there are thousands of important people who are doing more than what I'm doing," she said. "These people need us and they can't see their families so we are the only friendly faces they can see, so you have to remain in high spirits for them. "They are elderly, vulnerable people, and some of them are so scared about it." Socha won a Bafta for her role in Channel 4 series Misfits and her latest project has been a BBC series called The Other One, which was piloted back in 2017. The series is due to air in a few months, meaning the care home residents could watch it while she is working there. "I don't tell them what I do," she said. "I don't see myself as anything other than Lauren." 'Never forgive myself'She said none of the people living at the home had contracted coronavirus but she did worry about giving it to her four-year-old daughter Reenie-Rae, who has asthma. "I would never forgive myself if I made my daughter get it," she said. "They are absolutely fine [the residents] but that's down to us as the care workers, to make sure we are keeping ourselves clean and washing our hands. "When I come back home the first thing I do is put my uniform in the washing machine. I'm literally going from home to work and from work to home and I'm self-isolating. We are all following the guidelines." The actress's mother, who used to be a social worker, has come out of retirement to be a community care worker. "She lives comfortably but she doesn't want to sit there and do nothing," said Lauren. "Every carer who is putting themselves on the line and getting up in the morning, community care workers who are also in the firing line going out working, they should be recognised for all the hard work they are doing." Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid ‘having baby together with model 20 weeks pregnant’ - The Sun Posted: 29 Apr 2020 06:18 PM PDT ZAYN Malik and Gigi Hadid are having a baby together, according to explosive reports in the US. The 25-year-old model is around 20 weeks pregnant with the 27-year-old former One Direction star's child, according to TMZ meaning she would be due to give birth in September. The pair have been isolating together at Gigi's family's Pennsylvania farm alongside her 23-year-old model sister Bella in recent weeks. They posed together in a snap at the weekend as she celebrated her 25th birthday, with Zayn standing between the two sisters with his hand on Gigi's waist in one snap. The pair are thought to have rekindled their relationship in December after a break and were spotted together in New York in January, suggesting things were back on track. Fashion-watchers have noticed her wearing increasingly loose clothing in public recently, where once she was keen to show off her figure. Zayn and Gigi first began dating in 2015 after meeting on the set of the video for his song Pillow Talk. However, The Sun revealed that they had called it quits in March 2018 - but have clearly now rekindled things in a major way, according to a family source. Despite the pair remaining silent on the reports, fans have begun bombarding the couple with well-wishes. One excited follower was typical of many, writing: "CONGRATULATIONS🎉🎊 🌹" on one of the singer's posts. Coronavirus: Condemnation for viral video claiming COVID-19 no worse than the flu - Newshub Posted: 29 Apr 2020 06:17 PM PDT A video uploaded by two doctors claiming COVID-19 was no worse than the flu has been taken down by YouTube for violating rules against disputing official health advice. In the clip, which went viral this week (excuse the pun), Dan Erickson and Artin Massihi from California said testing on more than 5000 people at their private clinic showed the virus was widespread, and therefore not as dangerous as others have claimed. It's unclear yet what the mortality rate from COVID-19 is, and it probably won't be known until after the pandemic is over and excess death data can be analysed. The World Health Organization at one stage suggested it could be as high as 3.4 percent, but that was before it was widely acknowledged the virus can spread asymptomatically, and probably too high. But Dr Erickson and Dr Massihi said their testing showed 12 percent of Californians were likely already infected, so COVID-19 has a death rate of about 0.03 percent - possibly lower than that of influenza. "Millions of cases, small amount of death," said Dr Erickson. In the hour-long video, which was tweeted by Tesla mogul Elon Musk, they also claimed doctors were being pressured to list COVID-19 as a cause of death when it wasn't, and insisted preventative measures like using PPE and social distancing weren't required. "Is the flu less dangerous than COVID? Let's look at the death rates - no it's not... Do we need to still shelter in place? Our answer is emphatically no. Do we need businesses to be shut down? Emphatically no. Do we need to have it, do we need to test them, and get them back to work? Yes, we do." Their claims are at odds with what most other doctors and scientists would have us believe about the disease, which in just a few months has killed at least 227,000 people - more than 60,000 of them in the US. The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) condemned the doctors' claims, calling them "reckless and untested". "As owners of local urgent care clinics, it appears these two individuals are releasing biased, non-peer reviewed data to advance their personal financial interests without regard for the public's health," the damning joint statement read. The two organisations listed a number of fallacies in how the pair came up with their conclusions. Firstly, they wrongly assumed the infection rate of people showing up for tests would be the same as the general population across the entire state of 40 million people. This was backed up by Carl Bergstrom, a professor of biology at the University of Washington. "During a pandemic, the people who come into an urgent care clinic are not a random sample of the population," he tweeted in a thread debunking the video's claims. "A large fraction of them are coming in precisely because they suspect that they have the disease. This generates sampling bias. Estimating that fraction infected from patients at an urgent care facility is a bit like estimating the average height of Americans from the players on an NBA court." The doctors also compared the number of deaths caused by COVID-19 - which has only just arrived on the scene and is still spreading like wildfire in the US - with annual total deaths caused by influenza. "The physician in the video is comparing two months of COVID-19 data, which again at this point is incomplete. It is not scientifically valid to make a comparison to the completed six-month flu season," said ACEP and AAEM. Dr Bergstrom also pointed out that in New York, 0.14 percent of the entire population have been killed by the disease already - far more than the 0.03 percent mortality rate Drs Erickson and Massihi claimed. "They've used absurd methodology to arrive at an implausible number." "Further there are a large number of patients who have yet to recover, and many of them whom remain on life support or are likely to die," the ACEP and AAEM added. The pair also made a number of "basic scientific errors" in the video, ACEP and AAEM said, including referring to both COVID-19 and influenza as 'DNA' viruses - neither are, their genetic material being made of RNA. Politicised misinformationThe response to COVID-19 in some nations has become politicised, with many on the right calling for measures like lockdowns and distancing to be lifted or ignored to get economies rolling again. "I think the risk posed by the virus is not as great as it was sold to us," ACT leader David Seymour said last week. "If we know that the virus was not as bad as we thought, and the lockdown is worse than we thought, then the right thing to do is to actually change the balance between the lockdown measures and the virus." This is especially true of the US, with Republican state Governors wanting to keep businesses open while Democratic-run states shut down to try and prevent the virus' spread. Both Dr Erickson and Dr Massihi are public supporters of US President Donald Trump, NBC reports. Trump has repeatedly lied about his response to the threat, touted unproven cures and played down its seriousness. "This pandemic has been so severely politicised in this country that evidence, no matter how poor, gets amplified enormously if it benefits one side or another," Dr Bergstrom told Californian news outlet KQED. "We always hoped this crisis wouldn't come, but that if it did we'd all be in this together. That's been a huge surprise for all of us doing infectious disease epidemiology. It's amazing to have to deal with this misinformation that's being spread around for political purposes and the ways that interferes with adequate public health response." Dr Massihi didn't respond to requests for a response from NBC, while Dr Erickson told a Fox-affiliated local TV station in Los Angeles he was after a "balancing act" between the economy and the public health response, and said there was no data to back up social distancing and lockdown measures. "You have to balance the collateral damage with the medical illness and say which one has a worse effect on society." New Zealand microbiologist Siouxsie Wiles has called such balance a "fallacy", saying getting rid of the disease quickly with a short, tight lockdown would allow us to reopen the economy sooner. "Of course the public health experts advocating the lockdown strategy understand that it brings serious and real harm to the economy, and that doing so has an impact on the health and wellbeing of people," she wrote in an opinion piece for The Spinoff earlier this month. "Those considerations are baked into the thinking. But this is a matter of the least-worst. Again, you just need to look abroad to see how very much worse off we could be." Right-wing media outlets in the US have condemned the video's removal from YouTube. Fox News host Laura Ingraham said it "isn't about science, this is about control... If you aren't worried about censorship in this country, you better be now." Like many other controversial videos which get deleted, supporters of the pair have rushed to reupload it. Facebook has yet to remove the video.
