Former NFL Wide Receiver Chris Hogan Declares for PLL Entry Draft - US Lacrosse Magazine

deweweko.blogspot.com

It's happening. Chris Hogan, a Penn State lacrosse alum who has spent nine years as a wide receiver in the NFL, has declared for the Premier Lacrosse League Entry Draft. ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the news.

On an episode of "Overtime" with Paul Carcaterra in 2019, Hogan intimated that he would be eager to make the switch back to lacrosse if the opportunity arose. It's unclear if one of the PLL's eight teams would have interest in a player so far removed from his lacrosse playing days, but Hogan would certainly bring starpower and storylines to the league.

Hogan confirmed his career change on Twitter shortly after it was reported.

Hogan attended Penn State from 2007-10, and he scored 29 goals as a junior to earn first-team All-ECAC honors. He graduated with a season of eligibility remaining, though, and he transferred to Monmouth to pursue football.

Hogan carved out a respectable NFL career as a receiver, playing in exactly 100 games in nine seasons. He caught 216 passes for 2,795 yards and 18 touchdowns and played important roles in the Patriots' Super Bowl victories in 2016 and 2018.

The PLL Entry Draft will be March 25 and comprised of players who have never played in the PLL before. The pool will largely be made up of players making the jump from Major League Lacrosse after the two outdoors leagues merged in December. The draft will be three rounds, and the Cannons Lacrosse Club will select first in each round.
