STORRS — The University of Connecticut said Thursday the school found 75 additional cases of COVID-19 through reentry testing for off-campus students.

Add in the 76 cases found in reentry testing for residential students, and the school caught 151 cases, according to the school’s data.

Stephanie Reitz, a spokeswoman for UConn, noted that off-campus students who had to come to campus for work or class all had to test negative before coming to campus. Those who tested positive had to remain at home until they recovered.

“These efforts allows us to preserve in-person instruction, a residential program, and a healthy community throughout our campuses,” said Eleanor JB Daugherty, UConn’s dean of students and associate vice president for student affairs, in an article posted to the school’s website. “As always, we thank our students, faculty, and staff for their care and concern for one another.”

On Thursday, UConn’s public dashboard reported three new cases of COVID-19 among off-campus students. Two other new cases were also reported in on-campus employees and affiliates.
