A team which had once planned to make their NASCAR Cup Series debut at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval will not do so.
Back in August, 3F Racing, which stands for “3Friends” Racing, announced that they were planning to become the first German-led NASCAR Cup Series team, fielding the #30 Chevrolet in select races.
Their plan was to make their Cup Series debut in this Sunday afternoon’s playoff race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval.
In fact, they planned to compete in each of the final five races on the 2022 schedule, including the races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (Sunday, October 16), Homestead-Miami Speedway (Sunday, October 23), Martinsville Speedway (Sunday, October 30), and Phoenix Raceway (Sunday, November 6), though they didn’t name a driver.
But the #30 Chevrolet did not appear on the entry list for this Sunday afternoon’s 109-lap Bank of America Roval 400 at the 17-turn, 2.28-mile (3.669-kilometer) Concord, North Carolina track, casting doubt on the idea that they will make an appearance in 2022.
The Dennis Hirtz-led team still reportedly plan to run 10 to 12 races on the 36-race 2023 schedule.
They have not yet named a driver or drivers, and they have not yet revealed the races which they are targeting.
Interestingly, 3F Racing isn’t the only team which had plans to compete in this Sunday afternoon’s race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval but will not actually do so.
Team Stange Racing still have not yet made their Cup Series debut, and this race was supposed to be the fifth of their eight planned starts for Tarso Marques behind the wheel of the #79 Chevrolet this year.
The upcoming races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway, and Phoenix Raceway were also on their initial schedule, but there is significant doubt regarding whether they will compete in any of them.
The Bank of America Roval 400 is set to be broadcast live on NBC from the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval beginning at 2:00 p.m. ET this Sunday, October 9. If you haven’t already done so, begin a free trial of FuboTV now!
