This year the Hypercar class arrives with a bang after two transitional seasons.

A 16 car entry is the highest number of race entries in the top class at Le mans since 2011 when there were 17 LMP1s!

Seven manufacturers are represented: Ferrari, Porsche, Peugeot, Cadillac, Vanwall, Glickenhaus and Toyota with Ferrari, Porsche, Cadillac and Vanwall all posting the Le Mans debuts for their new-generation cars.

From the 13 full-season WEC cars 12 are entered with Proton Competition opting to delay their WEC Porsche 963 programme.

The additional four cars include two Cadillacs (adding to the single full season WEC car, Action Express are set to make their Le Mans debut via an automatic invitation from IMSA with their car numbered #311 (their regular IMSA #31 is already allocated to a Team WRT LMP2) whilst the factory Cadillac Racing squad run by Chip Ganassi Racing add their full-season IMSA car to the entry.

Notably, Cadillac have confirmed that their top class cars in both IMSA and WEC competition will henceforth be called the Cadillac V-Series.R, the brand dispensing with the previous V.LMDH model name.

Glickenhaus also add an additional car, the US-flagged team again fielding a pair of their SCG007C machines after taking a podium finish in 2022.

And Porsche add a third factory-run 963 to their full-season pair in WEC, the #75 car joins the full season #5 & #6.

The only car flagged by a team as a likely entry that does not feature is the second ‘Vanwall Vandervell 680’ trailed by Colin Kolles though it is not known at present whether the team opted not to enter the car or whether it was simply not selected.

Toyota will be aiming for a sixth consecutive win but others too are looking for landmark results with Porsche targeting its 20th overall victory, while Ferrari returns to the top tier at Le Mans after a 50-year hiatus in search of their tenth victory!

Peugeot will be looking to add a fourth win to their roll of honour 15 years after the marque’s last success.

JMW Motorsport continue their long run at Le Mans with the seventh and final appearance of their Ferrari 488 at the 24 Hours (the same car won on its race debut at Le Mans in 2017 and has featured every year since!) and look out for something very special indeed from the all-French-crewed #72 Aston Martin somewhat closer to the big race!

Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest: The 24 Hours of Le Mans is poised to celebrate its 100th anniversary in June, in what will be the fourth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship. In addition to the extraordinary entertainment programme, the Centenary will also be celebrated on track, where we can expect a series of spectacular clashes. To witness the Centenary of such an iconic race is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Few events can boast such longevity and offer what promises to be one of the greatest sporting occasions in history.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, FIA President: The 24 Hours of Le Mans race is one of the biggest and greatest motor sport events in history as well as the traditional focal point of the FIA World Endurance Championship season. With the race celebrating its centenary and owing to the incredibly strong entry, it will be even more special this year. I would therefore like to wish the event organisers, the promoter, the fans, the competitors and teams; and all the FIA staff involved the best of luck with what will surely be an event to remember!

Richard Mille, FIA Endurance Commission President: The build-up for this year’s edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans starts today and the entry promises that there’s plenty to look forward to. The Hypercar class reached and impressive 16 cars, which is the highest seen in the top class at Le Mans in over a decade. This is exactly what we envisaged in the early days of developing the Hypercar concept. I cannot wait for the event to start with the traditional parade in the old town at Le Mans. This will be a very unique celebration of motor sport and endurance racing.

Frédéric Lequien, FIA WEC CEO: The entry list for this year’s centenary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which forms round four of the FIA WEC, is incredible. The history, passion and atmosphere at Le Mans is truly unique and we are excited to celebrate 100 years of this iconic race alongside the ACO. It is always a highlight of the WEC calendar for our teams and drivers to compete at Le Mans and this year will be very special indeed.
