Melilla, Spain, May 21 (EFE).- Hundreds of Moroccan migrants tried to enter Melilla, a Spanish autonomous city in North Africa, early Friday.

Some 30 succeeded, official sources told Efe, despite army presence to enforce border controls. Spain’s interior ministry said they would be returned to Morocco, unless they are candidates for asylum.

None of the 30 Moroccan males that crossed the border were injured, sources confirmed.

Meanwhile, the situation in Ceuta, a Spanish enclave in Morocco where some 8,000 migrants illegally crossed the border Monday, was under control.

Some 6,500 of those have been returned to Morocco as part of a deal between Madrid and Rabat.

Spanish authorities are seeking relocation for the over 800 unaccompanied minors who entered Ceuta.

Spanish Civil Guard agents rescued a body from the sea close to the Tarajal border, in Ceuta’s south, on Thursday.

This is the second body recovered this week, after a migrant drowned when trying to swim to Ceuta. EFE
