The Minnesota Wild announced on Sunday morning that Minnesota Gophers captain Brock Faber has signed his entry-level contract and will begin his professional career.
The Athletic's Michael Russo reports that Faber signed a three-year, $2.775 million contract to turn pro with a $92,500 signing bonus and $250,000 in performance-based incentives.
By joining the Wild, Faber will burn the first year of his rookie deal, but will also be on the team plane ahead of Monday night's game against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Faber declined to go pro after his sophomore year with the Gophers to pursue a national championship and reached the title game before falling to Quinnipiac in overtime on Saturday night.

The Maple Grove native served as the team captain and was also the 45th overall pick by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2020 NHL Draft but his rights were traded to the WIld as part of the Kevin Fiala trade last summer.
A two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, Faber's arrival should give the Wild more depth along the blue line as they make their way into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
