Keep Riverside Clean and Beautiful will give a $10,000 landscape makeover to the Riverside homeowner who wins its Waterwise Landscape Makeover raffle.
The drawing will be held Aug. 31 at the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce, 3985 University Ave., Riverside.
Raffle tickets are $20 each, five for $50, 10 for $75 and 15 for $100 and are available at the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce, 3985 University Ave. (951-683-7100, ext. 204) and Louie’s Nursery, 16310 Porter Ave., Riverside (951-780-7841).
The winner does not need to be present at the drawing but must be a homeowner in Riverside. Proceeds from the raffle assist in funding tools and supplies for monthly beautification projects that help teach young people to care for the appearance of their community through volunteering at Keep Riverside Clean and Beautiful cleanup events, according to a news release.
The winners of last year’s raffle reduced the turf in a large front yard by 50% and added a small fruit orchard, colorful plant material with drip irrigation and a concrete pad for an outdoor sitting area, resulting in a 30% annual savings on their water bill, according to the news release.
Sponsors, design team and project managers include Riverside Public Utilities, Custom Service Systems, Western Municipal Water District, Envision Landscape, RCB & Sons Inc. Landscape Architecture, Ken Crowl, A-G Sod Farms, Burrtec Waste Industries, Louie’s Nursery, Octo Green Landscaping, Paradise Garden Center, Toro and Patty and Mike Blakely, the 2009 winners.
Keep Riverside Clean and Beautiful is a community volunteer program sponsored by the city of Riverside’s Public Works Department and Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce. The program addresses litter and graffiti eradication, cleaning city waterways, trails, streets and alleys and providing more green space in the community.
