In a dingy London flat a young man called Kaz comes up with a plan to murder the prime minister, Boris Johnson. First he toys with the idea of a knife, slashing it across the face of a blond floppy-haired mask for practice, then he graduates to a gun.
But why is he so angry? His mother, who had severe depression, killed herself after feeling isolated during lockdown. “Meanwhile, at No 10, our prime minister was having private Christmas parties,” Kaz says, staring down a webcam, an icy chill in his eyes.
Killing Boris Johnson is a dark meditation on the consequences of the Downing Street parties on ordinary people. The short film is the only British student-made production selected for this year’s Cannes film
