A capacity 40-car entry is set for this weekend’s Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America season finale at Circuit of The Americas, marking the series’ second event supporting Formula 1.
The popular single-make series will stage Rounds 15 and 16 at the Texan venue, with the Am class championship battle set to take center stage.
MDK Motorsports’ Scott Noble and Mark Kvamme are separated by just 12 points heading into the final two rounds of the season, with Noble on the heels of six consecutive class wins in his No. 10 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.
Kvamme, who has six class wins on the season compared to Noble’s seven, will be looking for his first win since the second Watkins Glen round in June.
As is the case in the Pro-Am class, which has seen Efrin Castro lock up the title last time out at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, the two lowest-finishing results are also dropped from the Am class championship tables.
The Pro class provisionally has 24 cars entered for COTA, led by champion-elect Riley Dickinson, who will be looking to rebound from a disappointing outing at Porsche Rennsport Reunion 7.
While Dickinson has already clinched the title, runner-up honors is still an open fight between McElrea Racing’s Tom Sargent and Will Martin, of JDX Racing, with the duo separated by just 15 points.
A maximum of 56 points are on offer this weekend.
Track action kicks off on Friday with a lone 30-minute practice session, followed by qualifying on Saturday morning and Race 1 at 2:10 p.m. CDT, followed by Race 2 on Sunday at 10:50 a.m. Both rounds will be streamed live on PorscheCarreraCup.us and Peacock.
