| Cameron Artis-Payne among former Panthers drafted to XFL - Panthers Wire Posted: 16 Oct 2019 06:10 AM PDT Cameron Artis-Payne among former Panthers drafted to XFL - Panthers Wire Tuesday began the draft process for the return of the XFL. The draft is a who's who of who used to be in the NFL, or who is currently falling short of reaching an NFL roster. A group of former Carolina Panthers players are now members of the new/returning league and among the highlights is former running back Cameron Artis-Payne. Here's a review. Artis-Payne was a fifth-round pick (No. 174 overall) of the Panthers in 2015 and spent four seasons in Carolina. He played in 32 games as a reserve running back, rushing 118 times for 491 yards and five touchdowns. Artis-Payne was thought to be the direct backup to Christian McCaffrey in 2019, but was among the final cuts, in favor of Reggie Bonnafon and Jordan Scarlett. Payne was taken by the Dallas Renegades in the third round (No. 20 overall) of the skill positions phase of the draft. He will play alongside former Pittsburgh Steelers' quarterback Landry Jones and be part of a group that also includes former Dallas Cowboys RB Lance Dunbar and another former Oklahoma Sooner, Dmitri Flowers. Hood was claimed by the Panthers off waivers from the Oakland Raiders in May of 2018. He would land on injured reserve after suffering a knee injury in the preseason. He returned to the team during the 2019 offseason but cut just before training camp. Hood began a run of former Panthers selected by the Wildcats, as he was the team's first draft selection, after being assigned QB Luis Perez. After Hood came a former Alliance member. Ross came to the Panthers during the 2019 preseason after showcasing his return skills in the short-lived Alliance of American Football. Ross competed with Terry Godwin and Jayden Mickens for the job, but ultimately fell short. Ross has not played in the NFL since 2016, when he played five games for the Washington Redskins. In three NFL seasons with the Redskins and Chicago Bears, Ross appeared in 22 games and was mainly a return specialist, but did catch eight passes in 2015. Ross was the second player selected by the Los Angeles Wildcats in the skill position phase, going No. 9 overall. Like Perez, Ross is an alumus of the short-lived Alliance of American Football. Garrett signed with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2016. He spent the year on the Panthers' practice squad. Garrett initially landed back on the practice squad in 2017, but was cut after about two weeks into the regular season. He resurfaced into professional football in 2019 in the Alliance with the Atlanta Legends and the Arena Football League with the Baltimore Brigade. The unnamed woman told the publication that the relationship represented a "clear imbalance of power" and that she was made to sign a nondisclosure or NDA agreement when she left the network. Page Six interviewed a corroborative source who said, "Matt had influence over everyone's career—one word and your career would be sunk," the unnamed source, who apparently confirmed the affair, said. "I know there was a clear imbalance of power in this woman's relationship with Matt." It is unclear if the woman in the Page Six article is the same one that Ronan Farrow describes in his new book "Catch and Kill" when he wrote about how Lauer repeatedly harassed a fellow on-air star who was also made to sign an NDA agreement. In Farrow's book, the co-star, who is also unnamed, says that a separate NBC executive also propositioned her and made lewd comments about her when she was on air. "I was like meat on a hook," the woman told Farrow. "I would walk into work with a knot in my stomach. I would come home and cry." The woman says that when she turned Lauer and the other man down, she was punished. "My career took a sharp nosedive," she said. The woman described in the Page Six report says she did not go to NBC human resources with her complaint, but that she did tell co-workers who have corroborated her complaint. Lauer has stringently denied claims of coerced sexual relationships, saying instead that all of his affairs were consensual. NBC responded harshly to Farrow's book, insisting that they did not cover up for Lauer. NBC News president Noah Oppenheim–himself under pressure over essays he wrote at Harvard, wrote a staff memo Monday. "Farrow's effort to defame NBC News is clearly motivated not by a pursuit of truth, but an axe to grind," he wrote. "It is built on a series of distortions, confused timelines, and outright inaccuracies." "I feel absolutely terrible that these three employees were subjected to Matt Lauer's horrific behavior, but the facts do not support Farrow's allegation of a 'cover-up,' and he offers no further evidence," Oppenheim went on to say. "There is no way we have found that NBC's current leadership could have been aware of his misdeeds in the past." | Dragon Ash金子賢輔被告に検察側が懲役6カ月を求刑 30日に判決 - livedoor Posted: 16 Oct 2019 12:07 AM PDT Dragon Ash金子賢輔被告に検察側が懲役6カ月を求刑 30日に判決 - livedoor  裁判によると、KenKen被告は7月19日、京都市下京区の自宅マンションで、大麻約0.2グラムを所持したとされる。KenKen被告は上下黒のスーツ姿で入廷。特徴的だった長髪は頭の後ろで結んでいた。丹羽裁判官に名前などを問われ、「金子賢輔です」とハキハキと答えていた。 被告人質問などによると、KenKen被告が初めて大麻を吸ったのは17歳の時だったと供述。以降、約10年前から月1、2回のペースで大麻を使用していた。使用した理由について、KenKen被告は「よく眠れたり、体の不調が治ってリラックスできた」と説明。逮捕されることも頭をよぎったというが、「自分が甘かった。仲間や家族、関係者に多大な迷惑を掛け申し訳ない」と反省の弁を述べた。 論告で検察側は、KenKen被告が約10年前から継続的に大麻を使用していることから「大麻の依存性は明らか」と指摘。また「動機は身勝手で短絡的、動機に酌量の余地はない」として、懲役6月と押収した大麻2点の没収を求めた。弁護側は、KenKen被告が逮捕されライブの出演中止など多大な影響があったことで「真摯に反省している」とし、執行猶予付き判決を訴えた。 今回の裁判では30席の一般傍聴席に対し、67人が傍聴券を求めて列を作った。倍率は2.2倍だった。 また、大麻取締法違反罪などに問われたRIZE／The BonezのボーカルJESSE（本名・マック・ファーデン・ジェシー・ソラト／39）被告については8日に初公判が開かれ、検察側は懲役2年を求刑、弁護側が執行猶予付きの判決を求め、即日結審している。判決は今月29日。 2019-10-16 05:40:00Z https://news.livedoor.com/article/detail/17240932/  |
