Posted: 22 Dec 2019 11:17 PM PST 'I don't want to involve Tottenham as an entire club, I know that just a couple of idiots were the offenders': Antonio Rudiger speaks out after being allegedly racially abused in Chelsea's win at Tottenham and reveals he has had 'a lot of supportive messages' from Spurs fans since
Antonio Rudiger has spoken out after he was allegedly racially abused during Chelsea's 2-0 win over Tottenham. Rudiger complained to referee Anthony Taylor that monkey noises had been directed towards him during the second half of Sunday's game. After a brief stoppage, a tannoy announcement ordered the abuse to stop before the message was repeated a further two times before the end of the 90 minutes. ![]() Antonio Rudiger was allegedly racially abused during Chelsea's 2-0 win over Tottenham ![]() The defender told referee Anthony Taylor he'd heard monkey noises coming from the crowd ![]() The game was stopped and three tannoy announcements called for an end to the abuse After the game, Tottenham vowed to 'conduct a thorough investigation' and Rudiger thanked Spurs fans who had contacted him with supportive messages. He tweeted: 'It is really sad to see racism again at a football match, but I think it's very important to talk about it in public. If not, it will be forgotten again in a couple of days (as always). 'I don't want to involve Tottenham as an entire club into this situation as I know that just a couple of idiots were the offenders. 'If not, then there must have been witnesses in the stadium who saw and heard the incident. It's just such a shame that racism still exists in 2019. When will this nonsense stop?' Rudiger's team-mate, Willian, also posted a tweet condemning the incident. He tweeted: 'I'm very happy for our team performance in the derby today but at the same time I'm very disappointed by the manifestations of racism during the game. We cannot accept this. We are together my bro @ToniRuediger #saynotoracism The PFA were equally quick to back Rudiger after issuing a firm statement calling on the football world and the government to eradicate it from the game. ![]() It's the second racism storm to hit English football recently after Manchester derby incident ![]() Manchester United midfielder Fred was subjected to monkey chants and pelted with objects The statement said: 'We are disgusted and dismayed that once again, a Premier League fixture has been tainted by abuse from the stands towards players. 'It has become clear that football players are on the receiving end of the blatant racism that is currently rife in the UK, but they are not alone. 'The PFA stands beside every player who faces discrimination. We will continue to fight on their behalf to combat this issue for good. It's the second racism storm to hit the Premier League in the space of two weeks following an incident during the Manchester derby. A supporter was seen making monkey gestures towards Manchester United midfielder Fred, who was also pelted with several objects. 2010-2019: Chelsea's Team of the Decade - Sports Illustrated Posted: 22 Dec 2019 10:17 PM PST ![]() A glittering, trophy-laden ten years have solidified the Kings of the Fulham Road at the top of the English game as Roman Abramovich's empire has only grown in strength and added further silverware to a bulging trophy cabinet. Over 300 wins, 10 head coaches, tons of goals and a never ending stream of Carefree's mean there is a smorgasbord of moments to choose from. It seems appropriate throughout all of those moments to decipher who have been the best 11 players in Royal Blue and select the Best XI of the Decade. ---------- Formation: 4-4-2 ---------- Goalkeeper: Petr Cech In truth – there was only ever going to be one choice in this position. Despite Thibaut Courtois filling the role from 2014-18, the Belgian's efforts pail in comparison to the legendary status of the Czech, earning his label as the club's greatest ever shot-stopper in May of 2012 – when he saved not one..not two..but THREE penalties to capture the Holy Grail in Munich. That night's efforts in isolation puts Cech on this list. Then add that he started the decade lifting a third Premier League trophy under Carlo Ancelotti's free-scoring Blues. Then making an outstanding stop in the FA Cup final of 2012 to deny Andy Carroll and Liverpool weeks before Chelsea would lift Europe's most coveted prize. He would stay as first choice between the sticks for two more seasons – continuing to lead his side to big wins, reassuring his defence and making key stops that would usually result in more winners medals. Courtois bitter exit mostly tarnished a lot of good-will built up over a number of strong seasons and Kepa Arrizabalaga is only into the second season of his Chelsea career and will be hoping he will be a guaranteed name in this list come the end of the next decade. ---------- Right-Back: Branislav Ivanovic The Serbian might have faded in his final years and had elements of his game that were frustrating, but the defender's ability to pop up with major goals in key moments for the Blues means he cannot be overlooked in this decade. Scoring the winner against Napoli to overhaul a first-leg deficit in March of 2012 and most notably his towering header in Amsterdam to win Chelsea the Europa League Final against Benfica a year later put him closer to fans hearts. His strength and mentality were major components of his game that made him a perfect lieutenant for Jose Mourinho's ruthless title winners in 2015. Despite a sudden drop in form the following season, his cult-like status meant he left with a lot of fond memories. ---------- Centre Back: Gary Cahill At the start of this decade, Gary Cahill was a regular in a lowly Bolton Wanderers side drifting closer to a drop out of the top flight. In January 2012, the defender swapped battling relegation for a chaotic Chelsea side still under the leadership of Andre Villas-Boas – who would be shown the door a month later. By the end of that season, Cahill would have played in and won an FA Cup Final and battled for injury to put in an heroic display in Munich to claim a European Cup. Cahill, for all of his critics remained a mainstay in Chelsea's backline all the way up to 2018 when Maurizio Sarri arrived and froze him out. He was aided by partnering one of England's greatest central defenders that would remarkably lift his performances – but likely would've felt more personal vindication when he captained Chelsea to a Premier League title under Antonio Conte without John Terry holding his hand. There aren't many players who have been as individually successful as Cahill during this decade, truly transforming his career and fortunes within a couple of months. Simply winning everything the game has had to offer in the space of seven years is a remarkable feat – there is only one Gary Cahill. ---------- Centre Back: John Terry (C) Chelsea's greatest ever Captain might have been shunned in a majority of Premier League teams of the decade – but he'll get his due credit here. In many ways you could argue Terry's best seasons came within this decade when he played every minute of Chelsea's title winning season in 2014/15 – at the age of 35 was head and shoulders the league's best centre back. Both Andre Villas-Boas and Rafael Benitez shunned his usefulness with injuries pilling up, but it was the return of Jose Mourinho – the same man who helped transform his career in 2004 – to revitalize Terry and help get him back to his imperious best. Their couldn't of been a more fitting and emotional farewell to Terry's glittering career than lifting another league title in front of his beloved crowd for one last celebration. ---------- Left Back: Cesar Azplicueta What is likely the hardest position to select in this eleven due to the two outstanding candidates in contention for it. Ashley Cole, despite leaving in 2014 - played a major role in Chelsea's run to Champions League glory in 2012. That clearance against Napoli in the first leg still sticks out as a sliding doors moment within that season. Cole, to many, is the best English left back there has ever been, so leaving him out feels an impossible choice. However, for longevity and solely based on the effect within this decade – the nod goes to the man Chelsea fans call Dave. Acquired from Marseille in 2012 for a now ludicrously low-fee of £7m, the fullback quickly asserted himself as a stalwart within Chelsea's defence under Jose Mourinho by displacing Cole at Left back where he has spent a large portion of his Chelsea career. He outshone Flipe Luis, brought in from Atletico Madrid in 14/15 - then arguably had his best season in Conte's back-three. Truly a versatile player that is one of two who are currently in the squad that feature in this eleven. It's hard to look past Mourinho's quote that would love to have eleven Azplicueta's on a pitch – which is emblematic of how vital the Spaniard has been to Chelsea's success. A player who has consistently put in exemplary defensive displays on the biggest of occasions, shutting down the deadliest of attackers - he truly is a coaches dream. ---------- Central Midfielder - N'Golo Kante The second member of the current squad to feature didn't arrive in English football till the decade was half complete when he joined Leicester City in 2015. A revelation within their stunning title triumph stunned the world of his hidden talents which had been uncovered by Craig Shakespeare from Ligue 1 side Caen. It would soon propel the Frenchman to the top of World football. Joining Chelsea a year later - Gary Linekar tweeted in dismay of Kante's departure that his signing would aid the west London club in retaining their Premier League crown – he was right. Kante excelled under Antonio Conte alongside Nemanja Matic in a formidable engine room which starred in Chelsea's memorable 13-game winning streak. He was voted the PFA Player of the Year, ahead of a certain imperious Belgian. Despite all the furore under Maurizio Sarri, Kante was able to add goals to his game and prove why he's so much more than just a defensive midfielder. A ball winner, tackling of perfection, can drive, can sprint, can score goals and – at his most rampant – appear to cover every length of grass on a football pitch. Is there anything N'Golo can't do? ---------- Central Midfielder - Cesc Fabregas If you would've told Chelsea fans back in 2010 that come the end of 2019, the name of Arsenal's then-captain would be in this team, many would've laughed out loud. It shows how much can happen in 10 years. Fabregas has played for three clubs within that time span – Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea. Arriving in the Summer of 2014, it was a shock move when Arsene Wenger turned down the opportunity to resign his former Captain in favour of Mezut Ozil, a move he would come to regret as Fabregas was a treasured final piece in Mourinho's title winning jigsaw. On his debut at Burnley he produced one of the passes of the Premier League era and Chelsea fans fell in love. By the end of the season they had a song for him and his magic hat. There won't be many who have glided with as much ease across the Stamford Bridge turf like Fabregas. The playmaker caught the imagination of fans with his passing ability, ungodly eye to find the right pass and a connection with a talismanic striker who would storm Chelsea to several titles. It speaks volumes that Fabregas would depart the club in January of 2019 with tears in his eyes being serenaded with adoration from a fanbase that was hostile to him only a couple of years previous. ---------- Central Midfielder - Frank Lampard Another statement that would've seemed far fetched even as recently as last season was the idea Frank Lampard would end the decade as Chelsea's Head Coach. Chelsea's greatest ever player cemented himself with that tag by becoming the highest goalscorer in the club's history, overtaking Bobby Tambling with 203 when he netted two at Villa Park in 2013. He captained Chelsea in to two European triumphs against Bayern Munich and Benfica. Who can forget the 27-goal season in 2009/10? All of this adds a conclusion to a remarkable career which has now come full circle with his return into the dugout. An irreplaceable talent. ---------- Attacking Midfielder/Left Wing - Eden Hazard The player that defined Chelsea in this decade. The then young starlet joining a week after the club's greatest ever night seemed like the start of a new era. Whilst the spine of the team began to fade with the likes of Cole, Lampard, Cech, and John Terry departing – Hazard was the man tasked to take up the mantle. After brief glimpses of his talent in his maiden campaign, it would be under the guidance of Jose Mourinho when Hazard would start to showcase his breathtaking talent. His instrumental goal contributions helped the Blues win their first league crown in five years in 2015 when he was voted the PFA Player of The Year. In 2017 he would have a similarly major impact in another title triumph under Antonio Conte. The Belgian provided the club with a litany of memorable solo-goals. West Ham, Liverpool, Tottenham and many more have been subject to the wizardry of the winger – his best goal surely coming against Arsenal in 2017, where he spun Francis Coquelin to the floor on his marauding charge towards goal. The Gunners would be victims to another outstanding display in Baku for Hazard's farewell as he captured the dreams once more of an adoring fanbase. ---------- Forward - Diego Costa A nuisance, a disruptor and eventually too much of a headache for Antonio Conte to handle – but that's what made the troublesome goal-getter an instant cult hero around SW6. Costa took little time to make his mark within English football when he tore up and shellshocked Premier League defences in the early weeks of the 2014/15 campaign. Arguably putting in his most memorable performance at Goodison Park where he netted two, got into spats and celebrated in Seamus Coleman's face. Even if his time in Blue was short, he put himself amongst the greatest strikers to ever play for Chelsea. His physicality might have been his most obvious trait but his technical ability was a sight to behold at his best. With a bundle a goals, lots of boos from opposition fans and heroic qualities that made him one of the most cherished players within the decade by supporters, Diego truly was one of a kind. ---------- Forward - Didier Drogba It feels fitting Drogba is the final name on this list as his right foot provided Chelsea fans with not only the greatest moment for the club within this decade, but also the now most iconic memory since Chelsea's inception in 1905. His performances and important goals in run to European Glory immortalised him forever within Chelsea's history. He started the decade winning the Golden Boot in Chelsea's enthralling title triumph under Carlo Ancelotti, netting another final winning goal against Portsmouth from a free-kick to secure the double. Drogba would score his fourth FA Cup final goal against Liverpool in 2012 before departing at the end of the season. The Ivorian would make a swift return under Jose Mourinho for one final season where he would mostly play backup to Diego Costa, and in the later months – Loic Remy. However, the Chelsea Legend would be able to have an apt farewell at Stamford Bridge on the final day of the 2014/15 season, lifting the Premier League trophy one last time. ---------- That's our Chelsea Team of the Decade - who is in yours? ---------- Follow us on: Twitter | Facebook | Instagram | YouTube Top stories - Google News December 21, 2019 at 05:02AM https://ift.tt/370HuOT 2010-2019: Chelsea's Team of the Decade - Sports Illustrated Top stories - Google News https://ift.tt/2FLTecc Shoes Man Tutorial Pos News Update Meme Update Korean Entertainment News Japan News Update |
Theodore's goal in 3rd helps Golden Knights beat Sharks 3-1 - USA TODAY Posted: 22 Dec 2019 10:10 PM PST ![]() SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Shea Theodore scored the tiebreaking goal with 11:55 remaining in the third period and the Vegas Golden Knights beat the struggling San Jose Sharks 3-1 on Sunday night for their ninth win in 13 games. Paul Stastny and Jonathan Marchessault also scored, and Malcolm Subban made 37 saves to keep the Golden Knights tied for first place in the Pacific Division with Arizona. Logan Couture scored for the Sharks, who lost for the ninth time in 10 games. Aaron Dell made 34 saves. The Sharks weathered a storm early in the third period, icing the puck four times in a span of 48 seconds, before putting pressure on for the tying goal. Brent Burns skated around the net on a power move and fed Couture on the other side for a one-timer and his 12th goal of the season. Dell then made big stops on William Carrier and Brayden McNabb on one sequence to preserve the tie and earn a loud ovation from a fan base that has been waiting for top-notch goalie play all season. But that didn't last long as Theodore beat Dell with a wrist shot from the circle to make it 2-1 moments later. Vegas added an insurance goal late in the period after Reilly Smith beat Erik Karlsson on a rush and fed Marchessault in the slot. The final regular-season meeting between the Pacific Division rivals got off to a tight, defensive start with only a handful of scoring chances in the first two periods. Nicolas Hague had a shot for Vegas deflect off both posts and out in the first period. Hague, who also hit the crossbar, is still seeking his first career goal. Dell robbed Mark Stone with a glove save on a power play just moments after Subban stopped Evander Kane on a 2-on-1 at the other end. Joe Thornton then had two good chances in the second for his first goal of the season but was stopped twice by Subban. The Knights finally broke through late in the second when Alex Tuch found Stastny in the slot for his ninth of the season. Vegas nearly added to that but Dell covered up a puck on the goal line as San Jose defenseman Brenden Dillon got into a scuffle with Ryan Reaves. NOTES: Tuch got his 100th career point with his assist on Stastny's goal. ... Tomas Hertl assisted on Couture's goal and has points in six straight games. Swine fever warning for Aussie travellers - The Age Posted: 22 Dec 2019 09:47 PM PST Travellers returning from overseas can expect to go through unprecedented airport security screenings as Australia bolsters its defences against a devastating outbreak of African swine fever. There will be more sniffer dogs, biosecurity officers and X-ray machines at airports across Australia over the summer, as part of a $66 million package to protect Australia's $5 billion pork industry. The disease, which kills about 80 per cent of the pigs it infects but isn't dangerous to humans, is now on Australia's doorstep after being detected in southeast Asian countries including Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia and Vietnam. Authorities are particularly concerned about travellers returning from the Indonesian island resort of Bali, a favourite overseas spot for Australian travellers, and home to many domestic pigs. #toostrongforyoukaren viral video prompts anti-racism rally in Mildura - ABC News Posted: 22 Dec 2019 09:37 PM PST The man who filmed a viral video of his neighbours questioning his Aboriginality and attempting to tear down his Aboriginal flag has implored people not to continue singling out those who abused him, as his community tries to turn the incident into a positive. Key points:
About 200 people gathered near the Murray River in Mildura on Saturday to take a public stand against racism, a week after Robby Wirramanda Knight's video spread online with the hashtag #toostrongforyoukaren. Mr Knight, a Wergaia man and deputy chair of the First Peoples of Millewa-Mallee Aboriginal Corporation, told the crowd he "would really like to try to take away the individual names attached to this incident." "The individual has become a product of the environment in which they were raised," he said. "This environment has been built over the past couple of hundred years by thousands of leaders.
'Every f***ing day'Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people make up about 4 per cent of the population in the Mildura region. The region's representative in Victorian Parliament, Ali Cupper, said that if the viral video incident had one positive, it was that "we know the truth now". "The one good thing that's come out of the Rob and Karen incident is I now know — and I hope all of the white people here now know — that this is Aboriginal people's lived experience every f***ing day," she said at the rally.
Ms Cupper said it was "important to understand what this problem in us is", and that "there is nothing Aboriginal people can do to cure racism". "Racism resents Aboriginal people's existence and we can see that because even when Aboriginal people look like us and talk like us and live in houses that are as flash as ours and earn more money than we do, we still hate them," Ms Cupper said. "We're still racist because racism is about existence. "That is a terribly confronting thing, but unless we name that and understand it, we can't fix it." Hope for the futureMildura councillor Helen Healy was one of three women who helped organise and promote the rally in the days after the incident that made national headlines. She sought official council support for the event and had told fellow councillors, before the video was filmed, of her objections to celebrating Australia Day on January 26. "To truly walk alongside Aboriginal people, we need to do the hard work, we need to understand the deep history of Australia, we need to understand what happening during colonisation and invasion," Cr Healy said at the rally. "Sometimes it's hard, but if you show support and create a safe space for the victim, that's doing a really powerful thing, rather than taking on the perpetrator." Darren Perry, a Ngintait man and the chair of the recognised traditional owner group of the area, said he hoped the rally would come to be seen as a turning point for the region. "We're going to stand up and show everyone that that's not how we live here, and that's not how other people should live anywhere, because we're all just as good as each other," Mr Perry said.

States Bid To Block Sprint, T-Mobile Merger - pymnts.com Posted: 22 Dec 2019 09:21 PM PST A group of state attorneys are banding together to fight a merger of T-Mobile and Sprint that is backed by the United States Justice Department, according to a report from Reuters. T-Mobile and Sprint are the third and fourth largest wireless carriers in the country. The deal is a $26 billion one and is being heard in federal court in New York, and could wrap up on Friday. The merger was approved in July by the Justice Department and in October by the FCC. The deal with the Justice Department was reached after the companies agreed to sell some assets to satellite provider Dish. Thirteen states and the District of Columbia have banded together to try and strike down the merger. The state attorneys' rationale is that the merger would result in higher prices for customers, so they moved to strike down the deal. But the Justice Department and FCC argue that striking down the deal would mean that rural customers, in particular, would be delayed in getting 5G internet, the next generation of wireless. They also said the deal with Dish would provide substantial relief. According to the agreement, Dish has until 2023 to build a 5G network. If they do not, they will have to pay the U.S. Treasury up to $2.2 billion. In a filing, the agencies cited T-Mobile's promise to provide 5G to 85 percent of the rural population in three years and 90 percent within six years. 5G is the new development of advanced internet connection that will make things like artificial intelligence possible, with companies like Apple expected to roll out products with the service, such as phones and headsets, by next year. The technology is expected to help facilitate the development of smart cities, autonomous vehicles and more automated factories. FCC Chairman Reed Hundt told reporters earlier this month that having more 5G connection was "a national imperative." He said he hoped the government would move fast and allow 5G to flourish by building out more networks. There are 10 states that have signed on to back the Justice Department's decision to approve the merger. ![]() "Mobile" - Google News December 22, 2019 at 08:21PM https://ift.tt/2SiQc7a States Bid To Block Sprint, T-Mobile Merger - pymnts.com "Mobile" - Google News https://ift.tt/2P9t7Cg Shoes Man Tutorial Pos News Update Meme Update Korean Entertainment News Japan News Update |
Richie Hawtin wants you to explore his DJ sets through a mobile app - Engadget Posted: 22 Dec 2019 09:21 PM PST Sponsored Links![]() Have you ever wanted to know exactly what DJs are doing during sets besides cuing the next track? You now have a good opportunity to find out. Minimal techno pioneer Richie Hawtin (aka Plastikman, F.U.S.E. and other pseudonyms) has released a Closer app in beta for Android and iOS that goes well beyond the usual concert footage. You can switch between multiple camera angles and track audio layers to see exactly how Hawtin puts together a set using all his on-stage equipment. If you want to know how he put together a killer synth sequence, you can mute everything else and switch to a view to see Hawtin's fingers fly over the controls. As Hawtin explained to The Verge, the app is the result of a years-long process that culminated in the 2017 debut of his CLOSE show, which uses overhead cameras to record Hawtin's mixers and modules. That results in massive downloads (you're grabbing multiple video feeds and layered audio tracks), but it also lets you dissect live electronic music in a way that just isn't feasible with your typical video. The aim is both to shake up the definition of a concert video and, more importantly, to shed light on what DJing is like for a hands-on artist like Hawtin. Closer turns a seemingly mysterious process into something very transparent, where you know the knobs he turned and faders he pushed. While it probably won't inspire you to become a DJ, it could give you a better appreciation for dance music than you'd get by standing in the crowd. Football: Neville urges players to walk off if racially abused after Rudiger incident - CNA Posted: 22 Dec 2019 08:47 PM PST ![]() LONDON: Former Manchester United and England defender Gary Neville again urged players to walk off the pitch unprompted in response to racist abuse after Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger appeared to come under attack from home fans during the Blues' 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. A fan was seen directing a 'monkey gesture' at German defender Rudiger while an announcement aired three times over the ground's public address system said "racist behaviour from spectators is interfering with the game". Tottenham promised they would undertake a "thorough investigation" after Willian's first-half double saw Chelsea to victory in a fiery London derby where Spurs' Son Heung-min was sent off for a needless kick at Rudiger. An object was also thrown at Blues goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. "Maybe we have to empower the players to walk off the pitch and stop the entertainment while it is happening," said Neville, commentating on the match as a pundit for Sky Sports television. Neville, meanwhile, said he regretted his failure to do more to support Ashley Cole when his team-mate was racially abused during a 2004 international friendly match away to Spain. Neville, who said his inaction then might lead to accusations from current footballers he was now in an "ivory tower of a commentary box", added: "Ultimately I would be ashamed of myself for not doing (it) 15 years ago as I would be absolutely proud of players for doing it now." Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was wary of walking off the pitch, however, with the ex-England midfielder saying "it needs to feel right". "It would depend what the players are feeling. If that moment comes it would be a group decision," he added. "We are not there yet so it is hypothetical." As the debate continued, Rudiger posted a one-line Twitter message that said: "Biiiiiiig Wiiin! #NoToRacism #PleaseGetSomeBasicEducation #AlwaysBelieve #Hustle #cleansheet @ChelseaFC." China will lower import tariffs on over 850 products from January 1, finance ministry says - CNBC Posted: 22 Dec 2019 08:47 PM PST ![]() Men are working on an US cargo ship at the Yangshan Deep-Water Port, an automated cargo wharf, in Shanghai on April 9, 2018. Johannes Eisele | AFP | Getty Images China will lower tariffs on products ranging from frozen pork and avocado to some type of semiconductors next year, the finance ministry said, as Beijing looks to boost imports amid a slowing economy and a trade war with the United States. Next year, China will implement temporary import tariffs, which are lower than the most-favored-nation tariffs, on over 850 products, said the finance ministry. That compared with 706 products that were taxed at temporary rates in 2019. China's economy is expanding at its weakest rate in nearly 30 years and could face more downward pressure next year, but the government has vowed to keep growth within a reasonable range in 2020 and keep policies forward-looking and effective. The tariff rate for frozen pork will be cut to 8% from the most-favored-nation duty of 12%, while the rate for frozen avocado will be reduced to 7% from the most-favored-nation duty of 30%, said the ministry in a statement on its website. Tariffs for some asthma and diabetes medications will be set at zero, said the ministry, while duties on some wood and paper products will be lowered too. Import tariffs on multi-component semiconductors will be cut to zero. China will also further lower most-favored-nation import tariffs on some information technology products from July 1, said the ministry. Mikko Koskinen giving Oilers what needed in goal - Ottawa Citizen Posted: 22 Dec 2019 08:10 PM PST One of Mike Smith's kids walked through the Edmonton Oilers dressing room Saturday night, looked at Mikko Koskinen and shouted; "good job." Nice gesture. But Koskinen thought he was just OK, yet a win is a win is a win. And a goal is a goal is a … well, not really that close. Koskinen channelled his goalie partner in the last minute Saturday, stopping a shot, then lofted the puck over everybody and the puck wobbled down the ice like a mouse on valium. Needing a left-turn after it hit the ice, the puck eventually slid about 10 feet wide of Carey Price's Montreal net. Koskinen, who was one shot better than Price to go to 13-6-2 on the season, swore he wasn't trying to make any highlight reels. "Honestly, that was my first clear in the NHL. I was just hoping the puck would fly over the first forechecker," said Koskinen. "I could see it wasn't going to go in, maybe a second I thought I could score. But my goal wasn't a goal, it was to get over everybody." Isn't there a tendency with every goalie to think "ah, I'd love to score a goal?" "Not for me," said Koskinen. "Never scored a goal, not in Russia, it's not my thing. I started back in Finland as a skater so, yes, I was scoring goals but for the last 20 years I'm trying to keep the puck out of the net." Koskinen has started 14 of the last 22. With a light schedule with no back-to-backs until an Oilers' home game against St Louis Jan. 31, and a road game Feb. 1 in Calgary, with just 11 games over a 36-day span from Dec. 27 through January, he could get the bulk of the work as long as his stats remain good. He has a .918 save percentage to Smith's .893. And Smith is 7-9-2. Koskinen will be starting in Vancouver Monday night too but he only gave the Canadiens' game a C on his report card. "Not the best game. The first goal I thought I had it and the shot hit my glove (Jeff Petry). Sometimes those happen. The second one (Phillip Danault tip) there was nothing I could do. The third (Max Domi) happened quickly, he made a nice play (by the glove). We're just happy to get the win," he said. "Sometimes you can play really well (St. Louis) and you don't win, and sometimes you play. OK and you do. I'll take 100 per cent this one than the loss in St. Louis. "This win was a huge confidence boost. We've been saying all year that we have keep building wins but we haven't done it. Now one game before Christmas, and hopefully we put everything into that one." Koskinen, who has started 21 games to Smith's 18 as Tippett didn't overwork either goalie for the first two months, will keep getting starts as long as he wins. "Everyone is asking me if I'm tired but I don't feel that at all. But I guess that's how last year ended but there were many other reasons why it went that way. It wasn't all the games (in a row). I remember a season where I played 80 games (including playoffs)," he said. "There wasn't any time (with all the games) to get any practices last year." Koskinen won't turn down start after start in the next month, if that's how it breaks down. "That's up to the coach. You can't schedule in the NHL the whole month (starts). You have to live by the day, game-by-game. You can't start looking too far ahead, have to live in the moment," he said. Koskinen is happier with his play this season as the halfway point draws near than last. "Most of the nights I've played to the level I wanted. Last year was more up and down," he said. "I've had more of a stable game most nights. That's what I'm happiest with but there's lots of things I could do better but it's such a balance, the line is so tough (to straddle). It's a one-goal game pretty much every night," he said. Has the game slowed down in his second NHL season. "I know now that if players are shooting from bad angles that I don't have to do anything extra. I'm trusting my size a bit more, maybe that's why it's getting a bit easier. That said, it might be tougher on Monday (Vancouver)," said Koskinen, who has had very few bad starts. "I think my Ottawa start (5-2 loss) was the worst. The Carolina game, I know it was six goals and that looks bad but they scored three back door. Of course the last goal was from centre (Dougie Hamilton), not good. I thought he was going to rip the puck for a hard-rim (boards) and I was over there and he faked it really well and it put it top corner. I was too far away to reach or it, but that was the last goal and it didn't matter. "You're going to let bad goals in and I would rather they come when the games are over. My Ottawa game was my worst. I let a couple of soft ones in and changed the momentum. But other than that, I've been pretty stable." Posted: 22 Dec 2019 07:47 PM PST ![]() Willian and Frank Lampard got the better of their former manager Jose Mourinho as Chelsea seemingly set their Premier League campaign back on track with a 2-0 win at Tottenham in an ill-tempered London derby. Chelsea's impressive early season form under head coach Lampard had tailed away in the time Mourinho reinvigorated Spurs, having succeeded the struggling Mauricio Pochettino last month. Indeed, Tottenham would have leapfrogged the Blues into fourth with victory, yet Willian scored twice before half-time - the second from the penalty spot after a remarkable Paulo Gazzaniga error. Son Heung-min was sent off for kicking out at Antonio Rudiger with 28 minutes left, and Lampard's men cruised to the finish at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The game was interrupted as referee Anthony Taylor addressed the two coaches, however, with Rudiger reporting an incident of racist abuse. After four defeats in their prior five league matches, this represented a much-needed win for Chelsea, ensuring a four-point buffer to fifth-placed Sheffield United at Christmas - with Mourinho's Spurs back in seventh. Chelsea lined up with a three-man defence and bossed the opening exchanges, leading through Willian after 12 minutes. The Brazilian traded passes with Mateo Kovacic following a short corner, shifted the ball away from Serge Aurier and whipped a fierce 15-yard drive across Gazzaniga into the bottom-right corner. Harry Kane blazed a presentable opening over the crossbar under pressure from N'Golo Kante at the other end, before Son was similarly wasteful from a tight angle on the left. And Tottenham were made to pay for their profligacy as Chelsea were awarded a penalty in bizarre circumstances in first-half stoppage time. Gazzaniga charged from his goal and missed the ball completely as he attempted a clearance, instead catching Marcos Alonso high with his boot. Referee Taylor initially gave a foul against Alonso, but the VAR intervened, and Willian tucked away the spot-kick. Only the linesman's flag spared Gazzaniga further blushes following the restart, as he spilled Alonso's strike at the feet of the offside Tammy Abraham. The VAR soon stepped in again when Taylor at first failed to send Son off for a petulant kick after clashing with Rudiger, and Spurs scarcely threatened a response.
Rookie Premier League coach Lampard had struggled to arrest Chelsea's slump before heading north to Tottenham, but his switch to a back three proved inspired. The Blues dominated possession from the outset while boasting the requisite athleticism in defence to largely nullify the threat of a counter-attack. Mourinho's men were slow to respond and, thanks to Gazzaniga's moment of madness, the Portuguese's proud record of never having lost at home to a former club was in tatters by half-time. Willian silences Spurs Willian is an unpopular figure with Tottenham fans having joined Mourinho's Chelsea rather than their London rivals in 2013, but he had previously struggled to silence the jeers in these fixtures, failing to score against Spurs in 11 Premier League appearances. He was at the centre of the visitors' best work in his 12th, though, scoring twice. The first finish was clinical, the second - from 12 yards - composed. Ill-disciplined in defeat While Chelsea kept their cool, Tottenham imploded - as they famously did when Leicester City claimed the title courtesy of a draw between the London rivals in 2016. Moussa Sissoko was fortunate to avoid a card for clattering Kepa Arrizabalaga, while there was no explanation for Gazzaniga's unorthodox intervention and no defending Son for his dismissal. What's next? Spurs can at least enjoy Christmas at home, with their next match also at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Brighton and Hove Albion on December 26. Chelsea host Southampton later on Boxing Day. Posted: 22 Dec 2019 06:47 PM PST An announcement over the stadium public address system midway through the second half warned fans against racist behavior after Chelsea's Rudiger had reported hearing abusive chants. A second announcement was then made in the final 10 minutes of the game, and a third in stoppage time. Tottenham said it is investigating the incident alongside Chelsea and its players, adding that "racism is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our stadium." The statement continued: "We take any such allegations extremely seriously and shall take the strongest possible action against any individual found to be behaving in such a way, including stadium bans." Fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium were warned that "racist behavior from spectators is interfering with the game" by a stadium announcer after Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta reported the allegations to referee Anthony Taylor. "It's very clear, every time we have meetings in the Premier League with referees before the game, we have been told to report any racism incident that happens -- straight away to report it to the ref," Azpilicueta told Sky Sports. "Tony (Antonio Rudiger) came to me and told me that he was listening to some racist songs towards him so I reported it to the ref immediately and I left it to the ref to do his job because we are very concerned and aware of this behavior and altogether we need to (make it) stop. "I hope everything gets cleared and we eradicate it as soon as possible because it's an issue not only in football but in life." Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld said he didn't know what was happening on the pitch at the time, but that the players were informed of the incident in more detail after the match. "It does not belong in football, I hope they find the individuals quickly because it is not good and we are all sick of it," said the Belgian. Brazilian winger Willian scored both his side's goals, his first from a short corner after 12 minutes and his second from the penalty spot on the stroke of halftime. Tottenham's afternoon went from bad to worse when a lengthy video assistant referee review resulted in forward Son Heung-Min receiving a red card on 50 minutes when he was adjudged to have kicked out at Rudiger. It was Jose Mourinho's second recent defeat against a former club after Spurs lost to Manchester United earlier this month, and his first at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The result will be a relief for Frank Lampard's Chelsea, which had won just one of its past five Premier League games but was tactically superior on Sunday and deserving of victory. "I am happy with the two goals but the most important thing is to win the game," Willian told Sky Sports. "We did brilliantly today. "The team's mentality was perfect. I think now we have to keep doing the same. We cannot go up and down, we need to carry on and stay at the top of our form." Willian opened the scoring after trading passes with Mateo Kovacic from a corner. He skipped around Serge Aurier and blasted his shot past Paulo Gazzaniga. Chelsea dominated the majority of the game and the Blues were rewarded with a penalty at the end of the first half after VAR adjudged that Gazzaniga had brought down Marcos Alonso in the box. Willian converted his spot kick to double his -- and his team's -- tally. The game's second half was marked by Son's red card for violent conduct -- which effectively ended Spurs' chance of a comeback -- and the three announcements about alleged racism from the stands. Sunday's events came after a series of racist incidents that have blemished football this season. Just this week, an Italian anti-racism initiative featuring paintings of monkeys received widespread criticism. Earlier this month, Manchester United players were allegedly racially abused against Manchester City, while a 13-year-old Burnley supporter was also ejected at Tottenham for an alleged racist gesture aimed at Son. Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, who starred in Sunday's victory, told CNN Sport in September that racist abuse toward him had reduced his mother to tears. Watford stuns Man Utd after De Gea howlerIn Sunday's earlier kickoff, bottom-placed Watford secured a surprise 2-0 victory over Manchester United, the Hornets' second Premier League victory of the season. Ismaila Sarr and Troy Deeney scored both the game's goals in the space of four second-half minutes -- Sarr grabbing the first after David de Gea had failed to gather a simple bouncing shot before Deeney converted from the penalty spot. "Today we didn't deserve a win, we were too slow, too many passes went astray and we didn't create chances," said United's manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. "But it is about taking them when we get them. We have two games coming up, we have to improve." Watford remain 20th in the league despite the victory, while United, who beat Tottenham and second-placed Manchester City earlier this month, stay eighth. Spurs vs Chelsea: Predictions as Mourinho faces off vs Lampard - Squawka Posted: 22 Dec 2019 05:47 PM PST Matches between Spurs and Chelsea are always eagerly anticipated but Sunday's meeting between the two at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been amped up further courtesy of the presence of Jose Mourinho in the home dugout. Mourinho has, of course, locked horns with his two-time employers on numerous occasions in the past but never before has he done so while in charge of their most hated opponents. Although Manchester City vs Leicester City proved to be an intriguing match-up which pitted the reigning champions up against this season's unlikely title challengers, Sunday's London derby is unquestionably the game in the Premier League this weekend.
1. Jose Mourinho to extend his unbeaten record against former clubsAn 11-month break from football appears to have done Mourinho the world of good. The 56-year-old appears reinvigorated and revitalised by this new challenge bestowed upon him by Daniel Levy and his chirpy demeanour thus far is in stark contrast to the doom-and-gloom figure that cast a shadow over Old Trafford last year. Mourinho has made all the right noises so far: he has befriended a ballboy, apologised to Eric Dier for chucking him under a bus against Olympiacos and likened Heung-Min Son to the original Ronaldo after his slaloming run ripped to Burnley to ribbons. This game, though, will test Mourinho's new-found personable outlook to its very limit. As much as the Portuguese has been keen to portray himself as the humble one at Spurs, he will want more than anything to get one over on Chelsea. History suggests he may well do so too considering he is unbeaten in 13 home matches against his former clubs, winning 12 of them. With Spurs in good form and Chelsea defeated in four of their previous five league games, Mourinho will be confident of upsetting his former charge, Frank Lampard. Subscribe to Squawka's Youtube channel here. 2. Dominating the midfield battle key to Chelsea's hopesThis is, without doubt, the most difficult run of Lampard's fledgling managerial career to date. Prior to the start of the final international break of 2019 last month, Chelsea were riding high in the Premier League table in third-place, level on points with Leicester City and 12 clear of Spurs. Since then, they have taken only three points from a possible 15, contriving to lose at home to both West Ham and Bournemouth. Another defeat at the weekend would see Chelsea and Spurs trade places in the league and although the hosts are the slight favourites given recent form, Lampard's side have enough about them to secure a positive result, particularly in the midfield area. Due to impending fixture congestion, Lampard has chopped and changed his midfield trio in recent weeks but it would come as a major surprise if he deviated away from his best line-up consisting of N'Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic against Spurs. Between the three of them, there is the perfect blend of industry, passing ability (both short and long), dribbling qualities and ball-winning capabilities. It is the one area of the pitch in which Chelsea are far superior to Spurs, particularly if Mourinho sticks with a stodgy pairing of Dier and Moussa Sissoko in front of the back four. If Chelsea are able to make their midfield quality count their chances of feeding an exciting frontline and protecting a vulnerable backline will be far greater. 3. Dele Alli will continue his good run against ChelseaFrom debuting as a 16-year-old for MK Dons against Cambridge United in 2012 to scoring for England in a World Cup quarter-final in 2018, Dele Alli's career had only ever gone in one direction: up. Over the past 18-months, however, Alli's career hit its first speed bump. The goals dried up, the impudent tricks and flicks disappeared and worryingly a susceptibility to hamstring injuries developed. So indifferent were Alli's performances at the start of this season, meanwhile, that the phone calls from Gareth Southgate stopped. Since Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino, though, the old Alli has been back. Redeployed in a second-striker/No.10 hybrid role, Alli has delivered three goals and three assists in five Premier League appearances under Mourinho, adding another strike in the Champions League against Olympiacos for good measure. Alli's return to form is bad news for Chelsea considering some of his best moments in a Spurs shirt have come against them. There were those two identical back post headers in January 2017, a remarkable sliding half-volley in an FA Cup semi-final defeat later on that year and another double at Stamford Bridge in 2018 which helped Spurs end a 28 year and 27 game winless run at that ground. In total, Alli has scored six goals in seven meetings with the Blues – his joint-highest number of goals against any opponent along with Watford. Considering Chelsea have let in 17 goals in eight league games on the road this season, Alli will be licking his lips. 4. Heung-Min Son and Christian Pulisic to have a field dayUnless either manager springs a surprise, Spurs will set out in a 4-2-3-1 and Chelsea in a 4-3-3 for the game. Each system calls upon on wide attacking players to make a difference in the final third and Son and Christian Pulisic, Messrs Mourinho and Lampard boast two of the most explosive and in-form wingers in the Premier League. Son is one of the few Spurs players whose good form predated Mourinho's arrival but he has continued to blossom under new management, scoring twice and laying on five goals in seven appearances. Mourinho has been quick to praise his players at any given opportunity but you get the impression that Son has quickly become his teachers pet. Pulisic, meanwhile, might have followed a run of five goals in three Premier League games in late October and early November with a scoreless run of five matches but the underlying statistics suggest that he is due another haul. Over the past four games, the American has fired off 15 shots for a combined xG of 2.12. Lampard has had issues with his full-backs of late with neither Emerson Palmieri nor Marcos Alonso impressing consistently on the left and Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James alternating on the right. Serge Aurier is one of the big winners of Mourinho's appointment for Spurs but his defensive deficiencies are well-documented and an ageing Jan Vertonghen had a tough task containing Wolves' livewire Adama Traore last time out. 5. Goals galoreMourinho coined his famous 'park the bus phrase' after his Chelsea side were held to a goalless draw by Spurs a couple of months into his first reign at Stamford Bridge in 2004, but since then there have only have been two occasions from 29 meetings in which both sides have failed to score. Traditionally then, this fixture guarantees goals and given both of these teams are stronger in attack than they are in defence, it would be a huge shock if the same isn't true this weekend. Only the current top three clubs have outscored Spurs (32) and Chelsea (31) so far this season and with the likes of Harry Kane, Tammy Abraham, Son, Pulisic, Alli and Willian likely to start, there is no shortage of attacking talent for either manager to call upon. Conversely, at the other end, Arsenal are the only side currently positioned in the top ten to concede more times than their London rivals, letting in 27 to Chelsea's 25 and Spurs' 24. On average, there have been more than three goals per game across the previous 10 games involving the two clubs and everything points to a similarly free-scoring event once more. We are in a difficult situation but I believe we can get out of it. The situation we are in, we have do anything we can to win a game. 'I thought the players committed to the game exceptionally well. I'll be very confident we can get out of this situation.' Pearson rescued Leicester from the drop when they were seven points from safety back in 2015 but on Sunday he was given a helping hand by David de Gea's mistake. ![]() Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea made a major error to enable Watford's victory 'Errors always happen in games and I said to the players I would take a scruffy 1-0 win,' Pearson said. 'I thought we did some good things, deserved to win the game and there is more to come. We've been unfortunate at times this season. We have to concentrate on ourselves and not worry what other people are doing. We have to set standards we are aiming for.' Watford are still bottom of the table but captain Troy Deeney said the players could handle the situation. 'Real pressure is watching my mum work three jobs trying to make ends meet for Christmas. This is football,' he said. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was livid with his team for playing as if it was a testimonial. The United boss insisted there were no excuses for his side's defeat which leaves them eighth heading into Christmas. 'The first half could have easily been my testimonial,' Solksjaer said. 'Maybe it would have been a better atmosphere in my testimonial to be fair. ![]() Pearson (left) wants his players to attack every game with the same determination as Sunday 'It was very subdued, slow, no tempo, urgency, any bit of encouragement their crowd got was when we gave them set plays and we gifted them two goals as well in the second half.' He added: 'The first one is a freak goal, a mistake. The second one as well is a bad mistake making that tackle.' Since the start of last season, De Gea has made six errors leading to goals in the Premier League. No one has made more. 'It's just a ball that slipped through his hands. A routine save that he makes,' added Solskjaer, who insisted he had 'no bother' with his goalkeeper. United improved after Paul Pogba made his long-awaited return from injury in the final half hour. Solskjaer said his display was 'probably the only plus today', adding: 'We know we've started something with the rebuild but today I'm disappointed because we have to come to these stadiums and get more points against teams like this. But there was no intent or urgency to make us deserve to win.' ![]() Ole Gunnar Solskjaer bemoaned a sluggish performance which he likened to a 'testimonial' ![]() Top stories - Google News December 22, 2019 at 12:44PM https://ift.tt/2ShNYEV Nigel Pearson confident Watford can pull off a great escape after downing Manchester United - Daily Mail Top stories - Google News https://ift.tt/2FLTecc Shoes Man Tutorial Pos News Update Meme Update Korean Entertainment News Japan News Update |
Browns grasp with falling short of playoff goal after loss to Ravens - clevelandbrowns.com Posted: 22 Dec 2019 04:40 PM PST "They hit a couple big plays that got chunks of yardage," coach Freddie Kitchens said. "That one drive was two plays. That can't happen." Cleveland never recovered in the second half. Mayfield found Odell Beckham Jr. for a touchdown that cut the Ravens' lead to 24-15, but it was too late — both in the scope of the game and the season — for the touchdown to prove meaningful. With one game to play, Beckham, who has battled a hip/groin injury since training camp, has caught three touchdowns this season. The injury has hampered the expected production between Beckham and Mayfield, but Mayfield is hopeful the duo can make an improvement next season. "Teams have played us differently, so we just have to take advantage of our one-on-ones," Mayfield said. "That was just one of them where we trust our guy to make a play, and (Beckham) did." That's just one area, however, where the Browns will strive to improve for next season. Sunday's loss showcased a little bit of everything that has plagued the Browns: failure on third down, a lack of expected offensive production and too many defensive breakdowns for big plays. Sure, the loss came against arguably the best team in the NFL, but that's who the Browns wanted to be this season. Sunday showed how far they were from meeting that goal. Cleveland has a chance next week against Cincinnati to meet the same win total, seven, as last season, but the loss Sunday officially closed the books on the playoff hopes the Browns had from the first day of training camp. So, when Mayfield evaluated the season, he had no choice but to be blunt. "We set the bar high for ourselves," he said. "Our expectations were extremely high, and we didn't meet that, so that's the most disappointing thing. In the big picture mindset, it's a process. There's a lot of room for improvement and progress has to be made." Proof settles viral internet debate of the direction of a man on a swing - Dexerto Posted: 22 Dec 2019 04:37 PM PST If you're still having nightmares over the color of the dress or the Yanny or Laurel debate, we've got bad news – there's another viral headache confusing the internet. On December 21, a Tik-Tok video of a man on a swing in the snow went viral online, as people couldn't make up their minds as to which direction he was facing – is it towards the camera, or away from it? Baffled viewers can put their tinfoil hats away, though, as definitive proof has surfaced that will hopefully lay this whole optical illusion saga to rest once and for all.
Viral swing video confusion solvedIn the video audio, a group of friends can be heard debating which way the man was swinging. "[His] back legs are bent this way! His feet are bent straight out!" one person exclaimed. "I bet you $500 cash right now," another argued. The clip swiftly blew up on the internet, with many users unable to figure out the definitive answer as to which way the man was facing. "Have y'all ever even been on a swing?? [Your] legs are legit in front of you so that [obviously] means they're facing the wall," one person disputed, which seemed to be the main consensus for many people.
However, some eagle-eyed viewers have seemingly found out the definitive answer to the playground dilemma – and it appears as though the man is actually facing the camera. How do they know this? If you look closely, at one point of the video, the swing bar covers his face, meaning that it's impossible to be in the direction of the wall. "This proves he's facing the camera," one user tweeted, alongside a screenshot of the video where the metal bar obscures the swinger's face. ![]() "He goes through the swing set bars which is IMPOSSIBLE, therefore he is facing the camera. Case closed," another user tweeted in frustration.
2015 saw the web go absolutely nuts over the color of a Roman Originals dress, which some saw to be gold and white, and some blue and black. In 2018, a sound clip surfaced which split listeners as to whether the voice was saying Yanny or Laurel. Regardless of your opinions on the swinging man, it's hard to argue with clear evidence. Maybe it'll all be put to bed now until the next optical illusion comes along – we hope, at least. SNL riffs on Democratic debate and impeachment in cold opening - The Washington Post Posted: 22 Dec 2019 09:45 AM PST SNL riffs on Democratic debate and impeachment in cold opening - The Washington Post Right off the bat, Gardner's Woodruff took a shot at the lack of diversity among the leading Democratic contenders, saying, "Just like 'the Bachelor,' the further we go, the less diverse it gets." Six of the seven candidates who qualified for Thursday's debate were white; businessman Andrew Yang, whose parents emigrated from Taiwan, was the only racial minority. Yang's character, played by Bowen Yang, griped that his candidacy will be "completely ignored" by the media. "That's why I'll conduct the rest of the debate in virtual reality," he said, lifting a set of VR goggles onto his head. "In here, I'm the front-runner." After introducing a celebrity-packed cast of candidates, the mock moderator asked if anyone wanted to "prove that they're presidential by starting a petty little fight." Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), played by Kate McKinnon, jumped at the invitation, attacking a fake South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg, played by Colin Jost, for holding a fundraiser in a catered wine cave with a crystal chandelier. The moment was a riff on a heated exchange between the two candidates in the real debate. "I've never been to a wine cave. I've never even been to a Filene's Basement," the mock Warren said. His fundraiser, she jabbed, was "basically 'Eyes Wide Shut' minus any sex appeal whatsoever." Jost's Buttigieg fired back that he was the only person onstage who wasn't a millionaire or a billionaire, and that he lived only on a mayor's salary, "plus $20 a week allowance from my parents, and that's only if I do my chores." Reprising her role as Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Rachel Dratch interjected. "The only cave I ever go to is a man cave," Dratch's Klobuchar said. "I call it the Senate." Fred Armisen returned as former New York mayor Mike Bloomberg, appearing onstage in place of billionaire investor Tom Steyer in what he called a "classic billionaire switcheroo." "For $30 million," he said, "PBS is now owned by viewers like me." At one point, a fake Sen. Kamala D. Harris (D-Calif.), played by Maya Rudolph, interrupted the debate, martini in hand, "to show you how good you could have had it, America." Larry David returned to play an aloof Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who complained about his iPhone battery, and Jason Sudeikis assumed the role of Joe Biden, taking a shot at the real former vice president's long-winded storytelling style. Finally, Alec Baldwin came back with his impersonation of President Trump, hurling insulting nicknames at the mock candidates and warning that "there are no rules now that I'm impeached." In a lightening-fast costume change, McKinnon suddenly appeared at Baldwin's side as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), carrying two Christmas gift bags. "They're the articles of impeachment," she told him. "Good luck at the State of the Union." 2019-12-22 06:31:00Z https://news.google.com/__i/rss/rd/articles/CBMicmh0dHBzOi8vd3d3Lndhc2hpbmd0b25wb3N0LmNvbS9hcnRzLWVudGVydGFpbm1lbnQvMjAxOS8xMi8yMi9zbmwtcmlmZnMtZGVtb2NyYXRpYy1kZWJhdGUtaW1wZWFjaG1lbnQtY29sZC1vcGVuaW5nL9IBgQFodHRwczovL3d3dy53YXNoaW5ndG9ucG9zdC5jb20vYXJ0cy1lbnRlcnRhaW5tZW50LzIwMTkvMTIvMjIvc25sLXJpZmZzLWRlbW9jcmF0aWMtZGViYXRlLWltcGVhY2htZW50LWNvbGQtb3BlbmluZy8_b3V0cHV0VHlwZT1hbXA?oc=5 |
