| Trump and Biden going head-to-head in final presidential debate - Hereford Times Posted: 23 Oct 2020 09:08 PM PDT After meeting last month in perhaps the most chaotic debate in modern US history, President Donald Trump and his Democratic rival, Joe Biden, will take to the stage again to give it another go. The bar to improve upon their last meeting is low: Their first debate was punctuated by frequent interruptions, mostly from Mr Trump, leaving the two men talking over each other and Mr Biden eventually telling the president to "shut up". A planned second debate did not happen after the president was diagnosed with coronavirus and refused to participate in a virtual format. Mr Biden and Mr Trump instead participated in town hall events on competing television networks. The new debate, taking place tonight in Nashville, Tennessee, marks the candidates' second and final face-to-face meeting, with election day less than two weeks away. Here's what to look out for: – Muted microphones After viewers of the last presidential debate bemoaned the moderator's inability to cut off the candidates' microphones, the non-partisan Commission on Presidential Debates responded with an announcement this week that each candidate's microphone will be turned off while his opponent gives a two-minute answer to an initial question on each debate topic. After those initial replies, the microphones will stay on during open discussion, leaving it likely there will still be lots of crosstalk during rebuttals. – Coronavirus Since the last debate, Mr Trump was diagnosed with Covid-19. The Republican has cast the virus and his own infection in positive terms, resumed holding large campaign rallies and attacked the government's top infectious disease expert, Dr Anthony Fauci.  Mr Biden, who has portrayed the Trump administration's response as an abject failure, has taken a much more cautious approach. He regularly wears a mask, holds small in-person campaign events and releases his Covid-19 test results, which so far have been negative. – Family and personal attacks The president for months has been making accusations of corruption against Mr Biden and has lately intensified his focus on unverified claims about Mr Biden's son Hunter. During the last debate, the president did not shy away from bringing up Mr Biden's family, and attacked Mr Biden's intelligence. Biden aides anticipate Mr Trump will again level searing personal attacks during the debate. The Democrat is expected to try to redirect to his core argument that Mr Trump is unfit for the job. – Race Following a summer marked by protests across the country over racial injustice, Mr Trump has repeatedly portrayed himself as a greater champion for black Americans than Mr Biden, while emphasising a law-and-order theme. But during the last debate, Mr Trump gave a reluctant answer when asked if he would condemn white supremacists, and he refused to outright condemn a far-right fascist group, instead telling them to "stand back and stand by".  Mr Biden, who frequently acknowledges systemic racism, has accused the president of encouraging a rise of white supremacy and armed militias and cites Mr Trump's comments that there were "good people" on both sides of a 2017 white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, as the impetus for his presidential run. – Leadership and national security Mr Trump is expected to continue promoting his "America First" policies, which have pulled the US out of multilateral agreements that he maintains were not in the country's interests. He is also likely to highlight construction of more than 200 miles of his promised wall along the US-Mexico border and recently brokered deals normalising relations between Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates and Israel. Mr Biden has accused the president of alienating long-standing US allies. He is expected to focus on Mr Trump's efforts to sustain a relationship with Vladimir Putin's Russia despite warnings from US intelligence agencies that Russia interfered in the 2016 US presidential election. – Immigration Immigration is not among the featured topics expected during the debate, but Mr Biden may seek to raise the issue on the heels of a report this week that court-appointed lawyers have been unable to find the parents of 545 children separated at the US-Mexico border early in the Trump administration.  Mr Biden has repeatedly criticised Mr Trump's immigration policies, something that Mr Trump featured prominently in his 2016 campaign. – Moderator and format The debate will be moderated by NBC News White House correspondent Kristen Welker. She will be the first black woman to serve as the moderator of a presidential debate since Carole Simpson in 1992. | Borat’s on-screen daughter revealed as Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova - NME Posted: 23 Oct 2020 08:48 PM PDT The woman who portrays Borat's daughter in Sacha Baron Cohen's new sequel has been revealed as a little-known Bulgarian actress. Maria Bakalova plays teenager Tutar in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. The 24-year-old actress studied at the Bulgarian National School of Arts before landing the role in Cohen's latest Borat film, LadBible reports. Initial press materials suggested Tutar was played by an actor called Irina Novak, but this was later revealed to be a pseudonym. Bakalova has starred in Bulgarian films including Transgression (2018) and this year's Last Call. Advertisement In a controversial scene in the new film, the full title of which is Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, Bakalova poses as a Russian reporter who asks Rudy Giuliani to a hotel room for a drink. Giuliani, 76, is Donald Trump's attorney, and in the scene he accompanies her to a hotel room rigged with secret cameras where he can be seen putting a microphone on. When his microphone is taken off, Giuliani lies down on the bed in the room and appears to put his hands down his trousers. The pair are then interrupted by Borat (played by Baron Cohen), who runs in and tells Giuliani: "She's 15. She's too old for you." The US politician has called the scene a "complete fabrication" – and has also been defended by Cohen's character in a not-so-serious response.  "I here to defend America's Mayor, Rudolph Giuliani," Borat remarks in a new clip. "What was an innocent sexy-time encounter between a consenting man and my 15-year-old daughter has been turned into something disgusting by fake news media. I warn you: anyone else try this and Rudolph will not hesitate to reach into his legal briefs and whip out his su-penis." Advertisement Giuliani also claimed that the stunt was an attempt to "blunt my relentless exposure of the criminality and depravity of Joe Biden and his entire family", referencing accusations of wrongdoing made by the Trump campaign of Biden and his son Hunter in regards to Ukraine and China while he was Vice President. | 「鬼滅の刃」劇場版 歴代最高「千と千尋」超えなるか？ プロの興収予想は（河村鳴紘） - Yahoo!ニュース - Yahoo!ニュース Posted: 23 Oct 2020 08:16 PM PDT 「鬼滅の刃」劇場版 歴代最高「千と千尋」超えなるか？ プロの興収予想は（河村鳴紘） - Yahoo!ニュース - Yahoo!ニュース  ゲームやマンガなどサブカル分野を20年取材して得た知見を語る「記事も鳴かずば撃たれまい」。第1回は、プレスリリースが記事に採用されないと悩む方へ、メディア経験者の視点から見た改善方法をお伝えします。 ◇ペイドパブの意味 記事の効果あるから「うちのプレスリリースは、記事になる頻度が低い。外部の会社を使っているのになあ……」というボヤき、ありませんか？ 原因はいろいろ考えられますが、メディアからそもそもリリース自体が良くない……と最初から「ダメ出し」をされている可能性があります。 ネットのおかげで、個人や企業の誰もが気軽に情報を発信できるようになりました。「メディアは不要」「マスゴミいらね」という考えもよく見かけます。ですが、ネットの話題の多くは、メディアの配信したニュースを受け、話題にしていることが多いのもまた事実です。 商品情報などごく簡単な情報発信なら、流行の「オウンドメディア（自社情報を発信する自社媒体）」でも問題ないでしょう。しかし、広くアピールするには、メディアの記事の力は無視できません。記事は広告と違って金を払う必要はありませんし、広告とは違う視点で読まれる傾向にあるので、うまくすれば効果てきめんです。 そもそもお金を払って記事を出すように仕向けたら、それはペイドパブであり、バレたら信頼がガタ落ちです。ただペイドパブのように、広告を記事のように仕立てたいという誘惑は、記事の効果があることを意味します。今やメディアを通さず、個人が自らの考えを気軽に発信できるのがネットの良さであるのは間違いありませんが、それでもメディアの出す記事に価値を認めるからこそ、企業は宣伝・広報担当を設け、日々プレスリリースをせっせと送っているわけです。「記事になれ！」と念じながら。 ◇ネットで情報拡散は「幻想」本題に戻しましょう。なぜリリースを出しても、記事になりづらいのか。理由は簡単です。漠然とリリースを作って配信しているからです。漠然としたリリースに、メディアも魅力を感じないからです。当たり前の話ですが、企業の宣伝・広報担当がワクワクしないリリースに、メディアがワクワクするわけがありません。ましてや、記事を書く筆も乗ろうはずがありません。プレスリリースは、大げさにいえばメディアへの"営業"です。手元にあるリリースが魅力的か、ワクワクする内容か、メディアの属性や方針（好み）も記事の採用確率に関係します。 中には特定ジャンルのネタはほぼ全部記事にする……という"親切"な媒体もあります。しかし、そういう媒体は残念ながらリリースのコピーをベースにしたものになりがちで、そういう記事はパワーに欠けます。ネットで情報は拡散する……というのは「幻想」にすぎません。やらかして拡散してほしくないネタはキッチリ拡散しますが、企業がプッシュしたいネタは大半の人（ファン以外）にはどうでもいいことなので、総じてスルーされます。 最近はネット広告のほうが話題になったりします。バナーをクリックさせようと、あの手この手で工夫をしています。中には消費者庁などにマークされそうな、詐欺的にも思えるネット広告もあるわけですが、その是非はさておき、工夫されていることは確かです。よくできた広告は「プロモーション」の文字があっても、思わずクリックしてしまいます。 広告はこれだけ工夫をするのに、プレスリリースには、あまり工夫をしない、したように見えないのはなぜでしょうか。配信して「後はメディアさんヨロシク！」というのは、いささか工夫が足りませんね。 ◇リリースが埋もれる事実説教臭くなるのですが、もう少し。そういう企業に限って、取材したときの対応はよろしくありません。リリースについて電話で問い合わせても連絡がつかなかったり、電話番号はなくメールアドレスのみ……という場合もありますね。 記者やライターが、すぐ問い合わせたいから電話をすると「問い合わせはメール」とぶっきらぼうに答えたりします。メールをしても翌日以降になってやっと返信が返ってくるパターンもありました。「記事にしたくなければ、無理にしなくていい」というツンデレな対応に合うと、記事を書く側からすれば「そこまでやる気がないなら、リリースを配信しなくてもいいんじゃね？」と思うわけです。 この記事を読むような、意識の高い方は「ありえない」と思うでしょうが、これが結構あるのです。そして、そういう企業のリリースが増えるから、きちんとしている企業のリリースが埋もれます。それは、現実として直視せざるを得ないのです。 ◇リリースのメールタイトル重視つまるところプレスリリースの配信は、企業が乱発する傾向にあり、受けるメディアも、その確認に苦労している事実です。みなさんも想像してください。取材が終わってくたくたになりながらメールを見ると、数百通以上のリリースが目の前に流れてくることを……。だから、プレスリリースをほぼコピペした記事の増加も、気持ちは分かります。裏返せば「こんなリリース、コピーするだけで十分」と足元を見られているわけです。 そんな時代だからこそ、自社のリリースを、自身が重視しているメディアに認知してもらうかは、最優先案件といえます。改善点はいろいろありますが、すぐできる簡単なことがあるのですよね。 それはリリースのメールの表題（タイトル）を重視することです。コンパクトで分かりやすく、一読してイメージがつかめるようにしてください。そこだけでも工夫するのが攻略の第一歩です。なぜなら、タイトルを工夫するには、プレスリリースを熟知した上で考え抜く必要があります。商品知識は当然のこと、業界の内情にも通じ、業界内外の流行にもアンテナを張らないと気の利いたリリースは書けません。記者やライターの立場も考え、どうすればリリースが目に留まるかを考えることです。もちろん物事に確実なことはありませんから、工夫してもうまくいかないこともあるでしょう。それでもチャレンジをすれば、伝わる人には伝わります。 ダメなプレスリリースの改善方法は、本当にシンプルなのです。最初は時間のかかることかもしれませんが、だんだんコツがつかめるはずです。「働き方改革」の時代でもあるので、なかなか時間は取れないでしょう。それでも、可能な範囲でやる、それが無理なら心構えだけでも……と思えば、行動が変わるはずです。その前向きな姿勢が、記者やライターを引き寄せる「エサ」になるのです。 今後の掲載記事予定（時期は前後します） ・ダメなリリース 何がダメなのか具体例も ・ダメなリリースに共通して「ない」こと ・なぜニュースは定型化するの？ ・メディアと記者の攻略方法 ・マイナスなニュースの"殺し方" ・バズる記事 生み出す方法とは 2020-10-24 01:00:48Z https://news.google.com/__i/rss/rd/articles/CBMiQWh0dHBzOi8vbmV3cy55YWhvby5jby5qcC9ieWxpbmUva2F3YW11cmFtZWlrb3UvMjAyMDEwMjQtMDAyMDQxNjgv0gEA?oc=5  |
| NASA “小惑星探査機 石や砂などの採取を確認”と発表 - NHK NEWS WEB Posted: 23 Oct 2020 08:13 PM PDT desimpul.blogspot.com  NASA＝アメリカ航空宇宙局は23日、地球から3億3000万キロ離れた小惑星を探査している探査機が、小惑星の地表から石や砂などを採取したことを確認したと発表しました。 NASAの探査機「オシリス・レックス」は今月20日、地球からおよそ3億3000万キロ離れた小惑星「ベンヌ」に着地し、表面の石や砂などの採取を試みました。 NASAは探査機から送られてきた映像を分析した結果、23日、「十分な量の物質を採取したことを確認した」と発表しました。 小惑星の石や砂の採取に成功したのは日本の「はやぶさ」と「はやぶさ2」に次いで3例目です。 今回の小惑星への着地では最低60グラムの石や砂を採取することが目標でしたが、撮影された映像には採取のための装置のまわりに石や砂が漂っているのが映っていて、NASAは「ふたに石や砂がはさまり、内容物が漂い出ている可能性がある」として、これ以上、内容物が漏れ出ないようカプセルに密閉する作業を急ぐ方針です。 順調に進めば、探査機は来年3月に「ベンヌ」を離れ、2023年9月に地球に石や砂を持ち帰る予定で、地球の生命の起源や太陽系の成り立ちについて貴重な情報をもたらすと期待されています。 からの記事と詳細 https://ift.tt/3krkxvw ビジネス  |

TikTok users are heralding a college professor as an "icon" after she shut down a disrespectful student in a viral video. Sabrina Pulli, a student at Temple University, posted two videos from what she said was her human sexuality class — in which professor Mylina Andrew took on the misogynistic comments posted in the virtual class's Zoom chat. In the first video, Andrew addressed the course's "class clown" who, according to Pulli, previously made offensive comments about women's bodies and followed up his comments with the assertion that he could say "whatever [he] wanted." "So let me start out with the one comment, Omar, and I wanna make sure you're still there and hearing me," Andrew can be heard saying in the clip. "You said, and I quote, 'I can say whatever I want and I don't give a f--- how you feel.' Well, guess what, Omar? You cannot say whatever you want in this classroom, and I do give a f---." The clip racked up over 700,000 views and over 1,000 comments from impressed viewers, who Pulli has dubbed the "Mylina Hive." "I knew it was good when she said 'and I quote,'" one commenter joked. "SHE DID NOT SKIP A BEAT," another wrote. In Pulli's second video, the professor of human sexuality went on to address the student's comments about women's temperaments and sexuality"Let me make it perfectly clear to you that women do not 'thrive on d---.' The Nerazzurri finished a point behind Serie A champions Juventus in Conte's first full season and lost to 3-2 to Sevilla in the Europa League final.
