The power and value of nature is shining clear during the COVID-19 pandemic. With our community staying at home as much as we can, with our essential workers shouldering the burden to make this possible, getting outside and into nature is more important than ever. Show us how you've been getting your nature fix.
This could be in your backyard, in your local park, on a trail. Shoot, it could be from inside watching the bird feeder. Nature comes to us in many ways and many forms.
Celebrate it with a photo.
To win, enter the photo contest for Our Big Backyard, Metro’s quarterly parks and nature magazine.
The winner has the choice of an annual parking pass or a tennis court session or a round of golf for four people including cart at Glendoveer Golf and Tennis Center. Not all of these may be available when the contest winner is announced, but they can be used when the facilities are open and you feel comfortable using them.
Submit a photo taken anywhere in greater Portland, from Forest Grove in the west to the Sandy River in the east to Wilsonville in the south. (For example, the Columbia River Gorge and the Oregon Coast are not considered part of greater Portland.)
Include a description of your experience in a 50-word caption. Where were you? What were you doing? What captured your attention? Please also include your full name.
The winner will appear in the fall 2020 issue of Our Big Backyard.
No digitally altered photos, please. By submitting a photo, you consent to Metro's future use and publication of your photo. One entry per person per contest. Metro employees are not eligible to enter.
