The frozen product line-up sold at Canadian retailers includes: New England Style Plant-Based Crabless Cakes, Thai Style Plant-Based Fishless Cakes, and Classic Style Plant-Based Fishless Burgers made from the company's proprietary six-legume blend (peas, chickpeas, lentils, soy, fava beans, and navy beans), which packs 20-21g of protein per serving (SRP $7.99 CAD).
To capture the seafood flavor notes and textured flakiness, Good Catch uses vegan natural flavors, farmed algae oil, and omega-3 fatty acids in all of its products.
"Our team has been diligently working on expanding our international presence to meet the increasing demand for plant-based alternatives globally," said Christine Mei, CEO of Gathered Foods, who joined the company in July 2020.
Good Catch previously expanded its distribution to Tesco stores in the UK. The company also recently announced the opening of a dedicated manufacturing facility in the US to support the production and availability of its plant-based seafood offerings.
Mei added that Canada was a natural progression in the company's international expansion plans as 40% of Canadian consumers are actively trying to incorporate more plant-based foods into their diets (according to the National Research Council Canada).
