Only a single LMP2 entry is set to take part in next weekend’s Hyundai Monterey Sports Car Championship at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, in the penultimate round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.

Released on Wednesday by IMSA, the entry list comprises of eight DPis, six GT Le Mans and 13 GT Daytona class entries as well as the No. 52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports Oreca 07 Gibson, which will stand alone in its class.

Patrick Kelly and Simon Trummer are listed in the car, which lost out on class honors in last weekend’s Motul Petit Le Mans due to late-race suspension failure.

While a first in WeatherTech Championship history, only one entry was expected for this event due to a number of recent developments. 

It included the withdrawal of Era Motorsport’s full-season LMP2 entry due to a back injury from Dwight Merriman, while Performance Tech Motorsports and Tower Motorsport by Starworks were both due to skip the West Coast race.

Inter Europol Competition, the fourth LMP2 entry at Petit Le Mans, meanwhile, has only confirmed its participation for next month’s season-ending Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

The only change that has been made to the entry list since the last round is with the No. 85 JDC-Miller Motorsports Cadillac DPi-V.R, which sees Stephen Simpson rejoin Mathias Leist. 

Alessandro Balzan is again listed in the No. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020, meanwhile.

The event will also mark the season season finale for the WeatherTech Sprint Cup.

AIM Vasser Sullivan’s Jack Hawksworth and Aaron Telitz currently hold a 19-point lead in the drivers’ championship, meaning their No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3 will only need to start the race in order to win the title.

The same would be the case for the teams’ and manufacturers’ championships.

WeatherTech Championship teams will not take to the track until Sat. Oct. 31, in a compressed two-day event that will see qualifying on Sunday morning and the race start set for 1:05 p.m. PDT that afternoon.
