Thursday's forecast for the Northland: Wintry mix possible as we enter October - Duluth News Tribune

deweweko.blogspot.com

We can thank a cold front that swept through the Northland last night for a chilly, cloudy, and breezy start to October. Our high temperatures were set overnight, now temperatures will hold rather steady in the low 40s throughout the afternoon. A few isolated showers linger, but remain rather limited. There's a chance for a few snowflakes to mix in with what lingers across the Arrowhead, but any flakes that fall would melt on impact. There's a prolonged chance for a wintry mix for Iron and Gogebic counties through Thursday and overnight into Friday due to winds off Lake Superior. High pressure sliding in and taking away our cloud cover Thursday night will allow for a cold start Friday with temps in the 20s and low 30s. The high keeps winds light and challenges clouds Friday, but highs stay in low to mid 40s. The cool trend lingers through Saturday with thick clouds returning. There's a chance for a few showers Saturday evening that could mix with snow for parts of the Arrowhead, then flurries are possible overnight into Sunday, but nothing should stick.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy and breezy with steady temperatures. High 44. N wind 10-15 mph. Thursday night: Partly cloudy, low around 27. N wind 5-10 mph.

Friday: Partly cloudy. High 45. N at 2-8 mph.

Saturday: Cloudy with a chance for evening showers. High 46. E wind 2-8 mph.
