LSU awarded redshirt sophomore running back Chris Curry the No. 18 jersey this fall, but the Florida native didn't live up to the billing of being the starting running back for the Tigers during their up and mostly down 2020 season following the National Championship. On Monday, Curry and reserve defensive lineman Nelson Jenkins entered the NCAA Transfer Portal, sources confirmed to Geaux247.

Curry, a Lehigh Acres, Fla. native, only carried the football 46 times for 191 yards and was still searching for his first collegiate touchdown entering the 2020 season, but was hoping the build off a solid finish to the 2019 season. In the College Football Playoffs semifinals win over Oklahoma, Curry stepped into the starting lineup and carried the ball 16 times for 90 yards, and he added nine more yards on his lone catch.

"Just prepare to be the starter," Curry said after the 2019 season and his Oklahoma performance. "Motivating the younger guys coming in and making sure they are good and learning the playbook. Making sure I am good and learning the playbook. We are one team."

After a decent performance from true freshman Kevontre Bradford against Alabama, questions were raised about Curry's status when he didn't see the field. It was all by design, head coach Ed Orgeron said at the time.

"No, something we wanted to do. We wanted to throw him the wheel route on the back field. Specific plays for him," Orgeron said before the Florida game of Bradford. "Tre can be a slot receiver, he's that talented. I talked to him a little bit maybe playing running back and maybe playing some receiver. He's open to it. May be something we can do with him in the future."

Curry finishes his LSU career with 91 carries for 336 and zero touchdowns while Jenkins, a Plaquemine, La. native, made one tackle during his LSU career, coming during the 2019 season.
