For much of his career, LSU wide receiver Racey McMath played in the shadows of some stellar pass-catchers in Baton Rouge.

Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase and Terrace Marshall Jr. starred for the Tigers throughout McMath’s career, but in 2020, the senior from New Orleans was finally going to get his chance to stand out.

Unfortunately for the 6-foot-3, 224-pound McMath, his final season at LSU didn’t go quite as planned. On Tuesday, Brody Miller of The Athletic first reported McMath would pass up his final year of eligibility and enter the 2020 NFL draft.

Remember, all college players received an extra year of eligibility for this year only due to the COVID-19 pandemic. McMath joins Jacoby Stevens as the second LSU player to skip that final season and enter the draft.

Last week, center Liam Shanahan became the first Tiger to accept the extra year of eligibility and return in 2021.

McMath caught 14 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown in 2020. He missed several games with a hamstring injury. He was also an impact player on special teams throughout his college career.

McMath completes his career with 33 receptions for 522 yards and four touchdowns.

His size, athleticism and ability to play on special teams will make him an appealing prospect in the 2021 NFL draft.
