Christmas Parade entry deadline extended - Red Bluff Daily News

deweweko.blogspot.com

Our regular parade was canceled. So, what do you do? Cancel it completely or pivot to what will work?

We chose to pivot. It’s not ideal as there will be possibly long lines but many families have not been able to do much together. So here’s a touch of tradition opportunity to celebrate Christmas together.

KBLF 1490 AM will play special Christmas music during the parade for your listening enjoyment. Thanks to Cal Hunter, owner.

We are excited for our Drive-through Lighted Downtown Christmas Parade, set for 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12. Registration is online at www.RedBluffChamber.com and has been extended to Thursday, Dec. 10.

The good news and bad news is we are anticipating a huge turnout of spectators. If you are planning on driving through the parade please be ready for possible long wait times. When you invite the whole city to three downtown blocks, it causes traffic congestion.

Calling all civic clubs, organizations, businesses and churches. We need more floats to register to be along both sides of the Main Street parking spots. It’s going to be great. Grab your group and come up with a fun lighted floats, vehicles or pop ups.

The theme this year is Merry Christmas Red Bluff.

All entries will be stationed along both sides of Main Street from Oak Street north to Hickory Street and the public is invited to take a Merry Christmas Red Bluff scenic drive down Main Street to enjoy the parade entries 5:30-7 p.m.

Drive through in the warmth of your own vehicle.

Check in and staging will take place 3:30-5 p.m. on Main Street in downtown Red Bluff. Placement in lineup will be on a first-come, first served basis. Please plan to make your entry full of lights and bright.

The entry fee is $20, with checks payable to Red Bluff Chamber and online registration is preferred. Visit https://content.redbluffchamber.com/events/register/5676 for registration information.
Prizes and plaques will be awarded to the top three entries for best overall presentation, lighting and theme integration.

Prizes will be $200 for first, $100 for second and $50 for third.

Forms are available in the chamber office and at www.RedBluffChamber.com. Call 527-6220, Ext 301 if you have further questions.

Thanks to our sponsors, Downtown Red Bluff, Red Bluff Dodge, Primelending, Green Waste of Tehama and Vesper Lodge.

Christmas Breakfast

Chamber Chairman’s Corner

Hello Red Bluff and Tehama County and welcome to the last 29 days of 2020. The elections have of course taken place and we’re still waiting for the dust to settle and figure out what the future will hold for us. COVID still dominates the headlines as cases rise across the country, and yet here we are, still making the most out of the hand that we’ve been dealt, all while moving further into the holiday season as we get closer to Christmas and New Year’s.

I’m looking forward to taking some time away from the office to try to recharge a bit before 2021 hits. Part of my time away will be spent with family while some time will be spent with close friends. I’m looking at it this way, 14 working days left this year, but who’s counting?

Thanksgiving was fairly quiet this year, as I did not get to spend it with Addison, but it was still very nice nonetheless as it was spent with Mom and a few good friends. Thanksgiving here in Tehama County of course also means the Active 20-30 Club putting on their annual Turkey Trot. This was their 5th Turkey Trot to be precise and although this was a virtual format, it looks like everyone who participated had fun. Great job everyone who pulled it all together, including one of the chamber’s own directors, Sean Rix at State Farm.

I have been in the process of moving from Anderson to Red Bluff over the past couple weeks and realize that it’s still just as terrible as I always remember it being. I’ve been working here in Red Bluff since 2003, but have only lived in Red Bluff for about 3 months. I must say that I’m looking forward to the 5-minute commute and close access to everything that I need. I also realize that I never want to move again, ever. So, with that being said, if you happen to run into me somewhere around town in the next couple weeks and my attitude appears a tad bah humbug, you’ll know why.

A first big event coming up on the near horizon is the Drive-Through Breakfast at Red Bluff Dodge. It’s a social distancing Christmas event this year where you can bring new, unwrapped toys for the CHiPs 4 Kids fundraiser and pick up breakfast.

The next event is the Reverse Christmas Parade on Saturday. We also encourage you to spend some extra time at the shops downtown as they will be open for your shopping enjoyment.

All of us at the chamber are here to support our community in any way possible. If you have an idea, please share it with us. We aren’t mind readers and would love to hear from you. As has become my normal sign off, don’t sit on the sidelines, we encourage you to come and get in the game.

2021 employment posters

California employers and businesses are required to post updated employment posters at their places of employment. Please note that there are changes to the poster and all employers will need to have the 2021 poster in order to be compliant with the law.

All employers and businesses are reminded that the 2021 employment poster, which contains all state and federal employer notices, is available through the Red Bluff-Tehama County Chamber of Commerce office. The poster contains all required employer notices on one poster and includes a checklist to ensure poster is displayed according to law. If you have employees that work full time at home, they need a poster too.

Cost is $27.99 for paper and $46.99 laminated, plus tax. Poster protection is available for updated posters on any law changes during 2021.
