The Wine Beach opened last week at 5351 E. Second St., at Santa Ana in Belmont Shore. Their grilled s’mores served on sourdough bread are one of their most Instagram-worthy menu items.

“Our first week has been amazing. We have had a warm and welcoming reception from our neighbors and many have become new wine club members,” co-owner Jodi Meade texted.

The $65 a month wine club dues includes two bottles of wine and various discounts and perks. The restaurant has floor-to-ceiling roll-up doors, allowing for indoor and outdoor dining. There is an 1,800-bottle wine selection available for on-premises consumption or to take home.

Whiskey nights

The Social List, at 2105 E. Fourth St. in Retro Row, is planning a whiskey tasting. Whiskey Night is from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight, Thursday. There will be 25+ whiskey tastings and small bites. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $40 per person.

Whiskeys featured include: WhistlePig “Piggy Back” 6-year-old Rye, Limavady Irish Whiskey, Kentucky Owl’s “The Wiseman” Kentucky Bourbon, Whiskey Row Bottled In Bond, and others.

The restaurant’s motto is “create fresh, locally sourced, delicious food,” and their events are often a reflection of that mantra.

 Keyless entry

The Hyatt Regency Long Beach at 200 S. Pine Ave. downtown is one of the first six hotels globally to offer contactless key technology.

This means visitors can keep room keys in their Apple wallet. The innovation now allows guests to unlock their rooms, access fitness areas and meeting rooms by tapping their iPhone or Apple Watch to key card readers.

“Like everything we do at Hyatt, our approach to technology always includes listening to our guests and members. We heard that they want access to be near-instantaneous. Room keys in Apple Wallet is an easy, convenient and secure room key option for our guests when they travel,” Julia Vander Ploeg, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Digital and Technology, said in a press release.
