Following the epidemiological situation in other European countries, authorities in Estonia have imposed stricter entry requirements for arrivals from territories highly affected by the Coronavirus and its new variants.

At present, authorities in Estonia have considered only the Vatican City State as a safe territory in terms of COVID-19 situation, which remains on the green list, while Romania is considered as a medium-risk territory. All other European Union and Schengen Area territories are included in the red list, which consists of countries that have recently reported high rates of COVID-19 infection, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

Authorities in Estonia continue to classify other territories in several categories, such as green, yellow and red, taking into account the COVID-19 situation in them.

According to the statement published by Estonia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, only the Holy See is considered a safe territory, as it recently has reported few COVID-19 infection cases.

Countries included in the green list are exempted from entry requirements upon their arrival in the Baltic State, such as a negative result of the COVID-19 test or quarantine requirement.

The same Ministry has also announced that the yellow list, which consists of medium-risk territories in terms of the COVID-19 situation at present, includes only Romania, meaning that Romanians who have not completed their immunization process against the Coronavirus are obliged to present a negative result of the COVID-19 test before reaching Estonia.

If passengers do not present a pre-departure test, they must get tested upon their arrival.

However, travellers from countries included in the yellow list are not required to follow quarantine rules upon their arrival in the Baltic territory.

Estonia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also announced that a large number of countries are currently included in the red list, meaning that arrivals from these territories are subject to the COVID-19 test upon entry if they have not taken a test before.

In addition, arrivals from the red list are obliged to follow the ten-day quarantine requirement, which can be shortened by taking another COVID-19 test after the sixth day of self-isolation, and the result is negative.

However, authorities in Estonia have announced that persons who hold a valid vaccination certificate are not required to follow additional entry requirements.

Estonia’s red list consists of the following territories:

  • Andorra
  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Bulgaria
  • Croatia
  • Czech Republic
  • Cyprus
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • France
