STATE COLLEGE — Another Penn State safety is on the move, according to reports.
Redshirt freshman Enzo Jennings has entered the transfer portal, according to 247Sports, On3 and Rivals.
Jennings becomes the second safety to enter the transfer portal in the past two weeks after redshirt sophomore Tyler Rudolph reportedly entered the portal.
Jennings, a Detroit native, appeared in just one game over his two seasons with Penn State. That was the 2020 season finale against Illinois. Earlier that season, Jennings was also Developmental Squad Defensive Player of the Week once.
The 6-foot-1, 194-pound Jennings was ranked as a four-star recruit in the 247Sports composite rankings out of Oak Park (Mich.) in the Class of 2020. He was ranked as the No. 3 player in Michigan, the No. 7 safety nationally and the No. 135 overall prospect in the class. Jennings was one of three defensive backs from Detroit on Penn State’s 2021 roster.
The Penn State safety picture is a little cloudy moving forward after the reported departures of Rudolph and Jennings. All-Big Ten selection Jaquan Brisker is out of eligibility and headed to the NFL, while redshirt senior Jonathan Sutherland and senior Ji’Ayir Brown both have the option of returning for sixth and third years, respectively.
Neither player has announced a decision, though Brown wasn’t honored at Senior Day almost two weeks ago.
Junior Keaton Ellis, who moved from cornerback to safety during the offseason, and freshman Jaylen Reed, who played in seven games this season, are the only remaining rotational safeties on the roster.
Penn State’s Class of 2022 features commitments from three players listed as safeties in Liberty Christian (Texas) four-star Cristian Driver, DeMatha Catholic (Md.) three-star KJ Winston and Lackawanna College three-star Tyrece Mills, while CD East four-star Mehki Flowers is listed as an athlete and could play either safety or wide receiver at the next level.
