RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has signed forward Noel Gunler to a three-year, entry-level contract. The deal will pay Gunler $775,000 at the NHL level and $80,000 at the American Hockey League (AHL) level from 2022-23 to 2024-25, and he will receive a signing bonus of $262,500. Gunler will join the Chicago Wolves, the Hurricanes' AHL affiliate, for the remainder of the season on a professional tryout contract.

"Noel is a sharpshooter who has the pace to play our up-tempo style," said Waddell. "We're lucky to have him join the Wolves for their playoff run."

Gunler, 20, recorded 23 points (13g, 10a) in 52 regular-season games with Brynas IF of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) this season and skated in all three of the team's playoff games. Gunler ranked second on the team in goals and fourth in points in 2021-22. The Lulea, Sweden, native has posted 56 points (28g, 28a) in 151 career SHL games with Lulea HF and Brynas IF from 2018-22. Gunler also played 77 games with Lulea's junior team over parts of four seasons, registering 74 points (39g, 35a). The 6'2", 176-pound forward has represented Sweden at numerous international tournaments, including the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge and the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship, and he paced his team in goals (4) and ranked tied for the team lead in points (5) at the World Juniors. Gunler was selected by the Hurricanes in the second round, 41st overall, of the 2020 NHL Draft.
