Bobby Brink celebrated a national championship last night.
He's celebrating his NHL dream today.
Brink, a 2019 second-round draft pick and the country's leading scorer this season, signed his three-year entry-level deal with the Flyers on Sunday.
The contract kicks in this season and his NHL debut is ahead this week.
On Saturday night, the 20-year-old right winger won the NCAA title with Denver. The Pioneers beat Minnesota State, 5-1, at TD Garden in Boston.
"We're very excited to have Bobby under contract after an outstanding career in college hockey that concluded with a national championship," Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher said in a statement released by the team. "Bobby possesses a high compete level combined with terrific hockey sense and offensive skill that has led him to succeed at every level he has played in his young career."
As a junior this season, the playmaking Brink led the nation in points (57) and assists (43). He added 14 goals and was a plus-26 in 41 games.
"This is such a storied organization, so much history," Brink said, via Flyers senior director of communications Zack Hill. "I couldn't be happier to be joining the Flyers."
Brink is a smaller winger (5-foot-9, 166 pounds) but creates with step-ahead vision and instincts. In April 2020, Denver head coach David Carle called Brink's hockey sense "elite."
"He's a gamer and I'd bet on him all day long," Carle said.
For good reason, the Flyers traded up in the second round of the 2019 draft to grab Brink. They weren't too concerned about his "different" skating stride. The Flyers viewed him as a first-round talent.
"It's motivation that teams passed up on you," Brink said in June 2019.
His climb has reached the pro ranks.
