The Hornets are expected to be shorthanded Monday night in Toronto.

Power forward Miles Bridges was not permitted to cross the border into Canada, and according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski the situation “is unlikely to be reversed in time for him to arrive for tonight’s game” against the Raptors.

Canadian law prohibits people from entering the country who has a felony conviction on their record as they could be deemed “criminally inadmissible” unless they apply for and are granted a Temporary Resident Permit

Bridges pleaded no contest to felony domestic violence charges in Los Angeles last year after he was accused of attacking his then-girlfriend in front of their two children.

Bridges was suspended 30 games by the NBA for the incident, and given 20 games’ time served this year after sitting out all of last season.

This past July, Bridges apologized for the incident.

“I want to apologize to everybody for the pain and embarrassment that I have caused everyone, especially my family,” Bridges said at a press conference.

“This year away I’ve used to prioritize going to therapy and becoming the best person I can be — someone that my family and everyone here can be proud of.”

“A lot of people don’t get a second chance, and I want to use this second chance to prove to everyone that I’m the same kid you drafted five years ago,” Bridges later said.

Bridges had been offered a max contract worth $173 million by the Hornets days before his arrest, and is instead currently playing on a one-year qualifying offer.

This past October, Bridges was arrested again after he was accused of violating the protective order from the previous case.

Bridges is averaging 19.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in 14 games for the Hornets this season.

The Hornets are currently 7-17 and in 13th place out of 15 teams in the Eastern conference.
