Indonesia has announced the launch of a five-year multiple-entry visa for visitors and people entering the country for business purposes.

Announcing the news, the Directorate General of Immigration said that the launch of this visa is part of the country’s efforts to attract more visitors.

The same said that by offering a visa with a five-year validity period, the country wants to help its economy and make travel to Indonesia more affordable, VisaGuide.World reports.

As the Directorate explained, the new visa will permit all of its holders to stay in the territory of Indonesia for up to 60 days.

However, the Directorate did not say anything about the period during which the 60 days can be used.

Regarding the price of the visa, the authorities revealed that the five-year multiple-entry visa for tourism and business purposes would cost $972 (IDR 15,000,000). If further was stressed that the visa fee must be paid online.

While on this type of visa, all of the holders will be able to visit different parts of the country as well as their family and friends in Indonesia.

Moreover, on the basis of this visa, the holder will be able to participate in different events and meetings.

However, applicants have been warned that they cannot take up jobs in Indonesia on this visa. The Directorate emphasized that the sole purpose of this visa is for tourism and business purposes.

Those who wish to work in the country and remain within its territory for a longer period of time must apply for another type of visa.

The authorities said that those who fail to meet the visa rules risk being fined or deported from the country. Moreover, the authorities highlighted that legal charges may also be taken against those who stay more than permitted or engage in prohibited activities while on the five-year multiple-entry visa.

Indonesia is consistently trying to make changes to its visa policy and attract more foreigners to the country.

In a bid to boost the country’s travel and tourism industry, Indonesia said that it is considering lifting the visa requirements for 20 countries.

The government said that it wants to allow visa-free entry to nationals of Australia, India, China, South Korea, the UK, the US, France, Qatar, Germany, UAE, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Taiwan, Russia, New Zealand, Italy, and Spain. Another two Middle Eastern countries will also be added to the list.
