Malaysia detains Cambodia opposition party vice president: report - Al Jazeera English Posted: 06 Nov 2019 11:04 PM PST ![]() Immigration authorities in Malaysia have detained Mu Sochua, vice president of the banned opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), four sources with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters news agency on Thursday. The detention came before a planned return of exiled CNRP leaders, including Mu Sochua and Sam Rainsy, the party's founder, on Saturday, the independence day of Cambodia. More:The sources, one of whom is with the Malaysian government, declined to be named. Malaysia's immigration department did not immediately respond to Reuters new agency's questions. Al Jazeera also reached out to the Home Affairs Ministry, but has not received any response. In late October, Mu Sochua was also denied entry to Thailand and was sent back to Malaysia.
Before boarding her flight from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday night, Al Jazeera asked Mu Sochua if she was concerned about her safety, and she replied: "If we were to be concerned we wouldn't get to the goal." There was no response to a follow-up message Al Jazeera sent to Mu Sochua on Thursday morning. Immediate and uncontional releaseIn a statement issued on Thursday, the ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights (APHR) called for the "immediate and unconditional release" of Mu Sochua. "The decision to detain her is a complete disregard for ASEAN's stated commitment to democracy and human rights. We all know that any attempts to block Cambodian opposition members from returning to their countries is solely based on political grounds and is a blatant attempt to silence their voices," said Kasit Piromya, former Thailand MP and Board Member of APHR.
The news of Mu Sochua's detention comes just a day after Malaysian authorities acknowledged on Wednesday that they have detained two Cambodian opposition activists late on Tuesday. Cambodia has arrested at least 48 opposition activists this year for allegedly plotting to overthrow the government before the planned return from self-exile of Sam Rainsy, founder of the dissolved CNRP, on Saturday. Hun Sen's government deployed troops along its borders in response to Rainsy's announcement of his planned return. Rainsy fled to France four years ago following a conviction for criminal defamation in which he was ordered to pay $1m in compensation. He also faces a five-year prison sentence in a separate case. He has previously said it was legitimate to seek to topple Hun Sen because the prime minister has created a one-party state and was not prepared to hold free and fair elections. On Wednesday, Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said that Rainsy would not be allowed to enter Thailand on his way to Cambodia. Tottenham scored easily the dumbest, most hectic goal of the Champions League - For The Win Posted: 06 Nov 2019 10:41 PM PST ![]() If there's one thing the UEFA Champions League group stages can be counted on to deliver on a regular basis, it's super weird goals. We already had Aaron Ramsey steal a goal away from Juventus teammate Cristiano Ronaldo for no apparent reason, and that wasn't even the weirdest moment of the day. That honor goes to Tottenham Hotspur, and, honestly, it's going to be tough to top this absolute clinic in chaos. During the first half of Spurs' match against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday, Harry Kane had goalkeeper Milan Borjan beat — only to see his attempt at goal hit off the side post. The shot set off a hectic scramble that included a blocked shot, poor clearance attempt, collision, volley off the crossbar …. AND, finally, a goal. After all that soccer dumbness, Giovani Lo Celso was able to find the back of the net to give Spurs the opening goal. The entire sequence was made for "Yakety Sax." It was a FIFA glitch in real life. Rodrygo's fee of 45m euros already looks like a bargain - MARCA.com Posted: 06 Nov 2019 10:34 PM PST Real Madrid Scored three against Galatasaray![]() Rodrygo Goes was the name on everyone's lips at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday as he netted a hat-trick in Real Madrid's 6-0 win over Galatasaray. With five goals to his name already in a Real Madrid shirt, the fee of 45 million euros that Los Blancos paid Santos for the teenager already looks like a bargain. ![]() Rodrygo is fast becoming the major success story of the season at Real Madrid. House withdraws subpoena for top Bolton aide - POLITICO Posted: 06 Nov 2019 10:34 PM PST ![]() House impeachment investigators have withdrawn a subpoena for a top aide to former national security adviser John Bolton, signaling that their effort to force his testimony, and possibly Bolton's, has ended. The move suggests that Democrats intend to move forward with impeachment proceedings, even without securing testimony from Bolton, who was a central witness to events underlying allegations that President Donald Trump pressured Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden. Bolton and the aide in question, Charles Kupperman, share the same attorneys. "The House's impeachment inquiry will not countenance … further efforts by witnesses or the White House to delay or otherwise obstruct the committees' vital investigatory work," the three lawmakers leading the inquiry, including Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, wrote in a letter to Kupperman and Bolton's lawyers. Rather than attempt to enforce the subpoena, Schiff and the other lawmakers urged Kupperman to voluntarily comply with the House's demands. They said he and his lawyers should, at a minimum, abide by an impending decision in a court case that involved former White House counsel Don McGahn, who has resisted a House subpoena to testify by claiming that he is "absolutely immune" from congressional demands because of his proximity to Trump. The White House has claimed that Kupperman, too, is "absolutely immune" from testifying in the impeachment inquiry. House lawyers indicated that they expected Kupperman and his lawyers to respond to the withdrawal of the subpoena imminently, and urged him to dismiss his demand for a judge to weigh in on the House's demand for his testimony. At issue for Democrats is the tight time frame that Democrats envision for the impeachment process, which top lawmakers have hoped will be completed before the end of the year. The judge in the Kupperman matter, Richard Leon, had agreed to an expedited schedule, but one that would still probably stretch deep into December or even January. Posted: 06 Nov 2019 10:04 PM PST ![]() In an interview with TMW Radio, former Inter midfielder Antonio Manicone shared his views on Inter's performance in their 3-2 loss away to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday night. "Inter could not keep that game pace for all 90 minutes, just like Dortmund would not have played badly for that long either," he said. "The psychological side of things has been affected. I don't know the the physical conditions of the Inter team, but a draw would have been the fairest result. Furthermore it was a strange match, just think that a full-back scored two goals, in any case it remains a great first half and Conte knows what he has to do. "The fact remains that Inter has their destiny in hand. Conte said some objective things and the team played a first half that few teams manage to keep up, he will certainly look to restart from this. Thailand set to hinder Cambodian opposition's return plans - Manistee News Advocate Posted: 06 Nov 2019 08:34 PM PST

The press conference was held by the Cambodian opposition group to discuss plans for its exiled leaders, including Sam Rainsy, to return to their homeland against the government's wishes. less Cambodia's ambassador to Indonesia Hor Nambora, left, interrupts the press conference held by Mu Sochua, right, Vice President of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) and Executive Director Kurawal ... more Photo: Achmad Ibrahim, AP BANGKOK (AP) — Plans by self-exiled leaders of Cambodia's banned opposition party to return to their homeland hit a major roadblock Wednesday when Thailand's prime minister said their top leader would not be allowed in to make his way through the country to the Cambodian border. Leaders of the Cambodia National Rescue Party have vowed to return home on Saturday despite efforts by their government to thwart them. They are led by party co-founder Sam Rainsy, who has been in exile since 2015 to avoid serving a prison term on charges that he says are politically motivated. The opposition politicians had said they hoped to return accompanied by a mass of followers, including from the huge community of Cambodian migrant workers in Thailand. They say they seek to spark a popular movement to oust long-serving Prime Minister Hun Sen, an autocratic leader who has clamped down on his opponents and demolished democracy. Sam Rainsy said that he was shocked and disappointed by Thailand's position, but that he would still try to carry out the plan to return. "I don't give up. I will try to the last minute. I think no one should stand with Hun Sen — he is a dictator," the 70-year-old politician, who maintains dual Cambodian and French citizenship, told The Associated Press by phone from Paris. Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha told reporters that in keeping with the agreement of member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, not to interfere in each other's domestic affairs, he has given an order that no resistance organization will be allowed to operate on Thai territory. "So, he won't be able to enter Thailand," Prayuth said, referring to Sam Rainsy. The Cambodia National Rescue Party was dissolved by court order in late 2017, allowing Hun Sen's ruling Cambodian People's Party to sweep a 2018 general election. Cambodian courts are widely considered to be under the influence of the government, which employs the law to harass its opponents. Hun Sen's government has barred the opposition politicians' return, alerting airlines that they would be turned back, and also conveyed its position to neighboring countries. Cambodian security forces have been put on high alert and scores of opposition supporters have been detained. Officials have repeatedly warned that if the opposition leaders did make it into Cambodia, they would immediately be arrested. Most if not all have convictions or charges pending against them, including inciting armed rebellion despite their avowedly nonviolent intentions. Cambodia's ambassador to Indonesia on Wednesday had a face-to-face confrontation with a top opposition politician who was holding a news conference at a hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia's capital, to explain the returnees' plans. Ambassador Hor Nambora barged into the news conference and spoke in front of the assembled journalists as Cambodia National Rescue Party vice president Mu Sochua sat waiting to speak. The envoy described the opposition politicians as fugitives and criminals, and accused Mu Sochua of trying to mislead Indonesian immigration authorities into thinking she was only a tourist by using her American passport. She holds dual Cambodian and U.S. citizenship. Hor Nambora did not further disturb the proceedings, though he paced at the front of the conference room as Mu Sochua spoke. As he left, he apologized to journalists for any disruption, but reiterated that Cambodian courts had ruled against the opposition politicians. "We are risking our lives, we will go to Cambodia empty-handed with bare hands," Mu Sochua told the news conference, which was also attended by Indonesian activists. "Returning home for democracy in Cambodia, it's not a revolution, it's not a coup d'etat." "We have asked neighboring countries to permit us safe passage to Cambodia and to have free movement when we are in Cambodia," she said. "We have been asking governments all around the world to witness our return to our nation, our homeland, with good intentions and totally transparent." After the news conference, the Cambodian Embassy in Jakarta issued a press release saying that Mu Sochua was a fugitive from the law because a Cambodian court on Oct. 2 had issued an arrest warrant against her for her allegedly seeking to overthrow a legally elected government. "It is unfortunate that Indonesia, a fellow member state of ASEAN, allows Ms. Mu Sochua to enter in Indonesia despite of her arrest warrant and conduct anti Cambodian activities in Jakarta," it said. The statement said the embassy "requests Indonesian authorities to arrest Ms. Mu Sochua and deport her to Cambodia immediately in the true spirit of ASEAN." It also mentioned that Malaysia, another ASEAN member, had stopped and detained two youth activists with the Cambodia National Rescue Party as they sought to board a flight to Thailand. The decision of Thailand to bar entry to Sam Rainsy was foreshadowed late last month when immigration officials turned Mu Sochua back on arrival at Bangkok's international airport, saying she was on a blacklist. The embassy statement described that action as being "in true ASEAN spirit." ___ Associated Press writers Niniek Karmini in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Sopheng Cheang in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, contributed to this report. 'No alternative': Rainsy determined to return to Cambodia - Al Jazeera English Posted: 06 Nov 2019 08:34 PM PST Phnom Penh, Cambodia - Opposition leader Sam Rainsy says he is committed to return to the Southeast Asian nation from self-imposed exile on Saturday, despite government attempts to stop him. Party officials and human rights organisations estimate more than 40 opposition supporters have been arrested since Rainsy announced in August his plan to return, while Prime Minister Hun Sen has said he will deploy thousands of troops at the border to prevent Rainsy crossing into Cambodia from Thailand. More:Rainsy's deputy Mu Sochua was turned away when she attempted to enter Thailand last month and the country's Prime Minister Prayut Chan O-cha said this week Rainsy would not be allowed in. But Rainsy, president of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), insists he will board a flight from Paris to Bangkok on November 7, and will make his way to Cambodia on Saturday. "I have no alternative," the veteran politician told Al Jazeera from the French capital where he has lived since 2015. "I have tried all the different possibilities: the peaceful, the mature, the real democratic one, but it doesn't work with Hun Sen ... I have to try to create People Power in 2019, because there is no election now." The People Power protests in the Philippines in 1986 led to the fall of the country's dictator Ferdinand Marcos and the restoration of democracy. Decades-long struggleBorn into Cambodia's political elite in 1949, Rainsy studied economics and accounting in France before taking a job in the financial sector. He remained in Europe until 1992, when he returned to Cambodia following the fall of the Khmer Rouge, and won a seat in parliament for the royalist Funcinpec Party in UN-backed elections. Rainsy remembers the first speech he gave after his return to Cambodia. "I was a little bit clumsy because I was just coming from France, which was a totally different world," he said. "So I had to adapt, and to speak using the language of the local people." While Funcinpec was the winner of the 1993 poll, Hun Sen's Cambodian People's Party refused to accept the results. In an uneasy compromise, a joint government was formed with Funcinpec leader Norodom Ranariddh as first prime minister and Hun Sen as second prime minister. Rainsy was finance minister. Factory workers and the young rallied around Rainsy who developed a reputation for battling corruption, but it was not long before differences began to emerge in the government, setting in train a three-decade struggle for control of Cambodia between Hun Sen and his opponents. In 1997, Rainsy narrowly escaped death during a grenade attack on a political rally that left at least 16 people dead. In an atmosphere of increasing suspicion and recrimination, Hun Sen was able to seize power for himself in a coup later that year. Rainsy, who established his own party in the mid-90s, has left the country multiple times since 2005 to avoid charges against him, and last returned in 2013 when tens of thousands took to the streets of Phnom Penh to welcome him home. The opposition performed strongly in elections held that year, but the government began to crack down soon afterwards and Rainsy went into exile again in 2015 after being found guilty of criminal defamation. The opposition was outlawed altogether before 2018 elections and its leader Kem Sokha detained and accused of treason. Now, Rainsy says, it is time for him to return and ensure Hun Sen's removal from office. "Only Hun Sen and I remain," he said. 'PR stunt'While the government appears to have taken Rainsy's promise seriously, not everyone believes he will actually return. Kem Sokha's daughter, Kem Monovithya, who is also a party official, is one of them. She told local media late last month she thought Rainsy's return was a "PR stunt". She declined to discuss his possible return with Al Jazeera. Political analyst Ou Virak is also sceptical. Since February, the European Union has been reviewing its Everything But Arms (EBA) agreement with Cambodia amid increasing concern about its commitment to human rights. Virak said Rainsy's return could be part of a strategy to ensure the trade agreement, which allows Cambodia to export its products tariff-free, is revoked. Earlier this year, Rainsy said he would return to Cambodia in March, but cancelled the plan after the EU formally initiated the EBA withdrawal process. According to Virak, the timing this month is similar: the EU is due to send a report on the EBA a few days after the day Rainsy has said he will return. If Rainsy is prevented from returning the agreement could be suspended, Virak said, potentially destabilising the economy. "His agenda is pretty clear," Virak said. But Sochua, who first came to know of Rainsy when she was a teenager, rejects the suggestion. She says the party cannot stand by and do nothing given the situation in Cambodia. "He's principled," she said of Rainsy. "Today, I still remember the words: He said, 'Sochua, justice will prevail.'" Hun Sen has accused the EU of trying to interfere in Cambodia's internal affairs since it announced the possible withdrawal of the EBA, and has moved ever closer to China, which has deepened its relationship with Cambodia over the past 10 years. Rainsy has criticised that growing influence as a new form of colonialism. "They are sending settlers, hundreds of thousands of settlers who come to live on a permanent basis, who expel Cambodians from their homes," he said. Rainsy's political strategy is not the only controversy surrounding the veteran politician. ControversiesHe has been criticised in the past for his comments on Vietnamese - including the use of derogatory words - or what some say is his comfortable lifestyle in Paris, and for being perceived as more French than Cambodian. But he insists he has given up much, both financially and personally, in his fight for democracy in Cambodia. Even when his mother was dying and asked for him, he did not go - a lasting source of regret. "I didn't come fast enough," he said. "I was campaigning in Kampong Cham." Property he and his wife had been able to buy on the back of his success in banking also had to be sold, he said. Despite the criticism, Sochua remains unwavering in her support for Rainsy. When he last returned in 2013 she showed him where to bend down and kiss the soil, she said. "It was a very, very emotional moment between the two of us. We locked eye to eye: Within seconds it was like 'now, this is the moment.'" By the weekend, Rainsy hopes once again to be back in Cambodia and challenging Hun Sen's long grip on power. He insists he will not back down. "People have been telling me that I am very stubborn," Rainsy told Al Jazeera. "They say this pejoratively. But for me, it is determination and perseverance." Goalscoring etiquette: Aaron Ramsey nabs goal from Cristiano Ronaldo - CNN Posted: 06 Nov 2019 07:54 PM PST Juve beat Lokomotiv Moscow 2-1 in Group D thanks to Costa's moment of individual brilliance in stoppage time after the Brazilian came on as a 70th-minute subsitute. Ronaldo had looked to have given Juve an early lead after his free kick was fumbled by Lokomotiv goalkeeper Guilherme but as the ball began to trickle over the line, Aaron Ramsey made doubly sure to claim the goal. Had the goal been awarded to Ronaldo the Juve star would have set a new Champions League record by scoring against a 34th different club. It was Ramsey's first Champions League goal for four years. "Following a Ronaldo freekick that was hopelessly spilled by the Lokomotiv keeper, Aaron Ramsey tapped it in as it was just going over the line," tweeted former England international Gary Lineker. "Ronaldo may not be happy with Mr Ramsey ... or will the great man get it overturned?" In the 82nd minute Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri then took the decision to substitute Ronaldo, who looked less than pleased at his withdrawal from the game. "Ronaldo was angry when he came off because he has a small knee injury and this created another small thigh problem. I replaced him just because I feared he could aggravate his injury," Sarri told UEFA.com. That injury did not prevent Ronaldo jumping up to celebrate his side's winning goal with Juventus joining Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain in qualifying for the knockout phase. Juve last won the Champions League in 1996. Real Madrid cruisesWhile Ronaldo was left to rue missing out on breaking yet another record, one of the most exciting young players in Europe took it upon himself to write a new chapter in Champions League history. Brazilian teenager Rodrygo netted a hat-trick as Real Madrid thrashed Galatasaray 6-0 in the Spanish capital. Rodrygo scored twice in the opening seven minutes of the contest, becoming the first player to do so in a Champions League match. At 18 years and 301 days, he also became Real's second youngest goalscorer after the legendary Raul Gonzalez. "I'm extremely satisfied tonight," Rodrygo told UEFA.com. "This has been the realization of a dream. "Every day I'm advancing a little faster than I'd anticipated. But my attitude is always to work hard, prepare myself and try to ensure that what comes my way doesn't feel so new or unfamiliar." Rodrygo wasn't the only Real player to make history Wednesday. Karim Benzema also equaled the record set by Lionel Messi by scoring in 15 consecutive Champions League seasons, taking his tally in the competition to 50. His two goals and a Sergio Ramos penalty secured all three points and leave Real poised to qualify for the knockout stages. It will almost certainly finish behind Paris Saint-Germain which qualified for the last 16 with a 1-0 win over Club Brugge. Manchester City meltdownWhile Real Madrid cruised to victory, it was a rather more uncomfortable night for Manchester City. The English champion was held 1-1 by Atalanta in Italy and finished the game with defender Kyle Walker in goal after substitute keeper Claudio Bravo was sent off. City had made the perfect start to the contest with Raheem Sterling firing his side ahead early in the first half. But a penalty miss from Gabriel Jesus and an injury to goalkeeper Ederson seemed to knock City out of its stride. Mario Pasalic equalized for Atalanta four minutes after the break and City's woes worsened with nine minutes remaining when Bravo was dismissed after charging out of his penalty area and bringing down Josip Ilicic. With no substitute goalkeeper on the bench, Walker was sent on to keep goal and he even managed a decent save as Atalanta sensed victory. "Did I volunteer? I think it was a bit of both," Walker told BT Sport after the game. "I try and sometimes banter the keepers in training but I found you sometimes have to take two touches to make a save. We came here for a point or victory. To come away from here with a draw is a good point." City will be desperately hoping Ederson recovers in time for Sunday's Premier League showdown with top of the table Liverpool. The Brazilian, who is one of the world's best goalkeepers, has been one of the team's outstanding players and his absence would be a huge blow for Pep Guardiola's side, with City already trailing Liverpool by six points in the league. "I don't know at the moment right now," Guardiola told BT Sport when asked about whether Ederson would be ready for Sunday. "In this competition you know you have your chances and moments and you have to take it," added Guardiola, reflecting on City's performance against Atalanta. "But with the problems we have, we made a good first half. First half we were outstanding and second we suffered. In the last 15 minutes we had the issue with the new keeper." 'Kidz Bop Karen' reemerges after viral road rage incident - New York Post Posted: 06 Nov 2019 07:44 PM PST ![]() A New Jersey woman is "still processing" the dramatic moment when an enraged driver stuck her head in her car last week, spitting out a profanity-laced rant that's since gone viral and earned the angry woman the name "Kidz Bob Karen." Chelsea Klein, 29, was in a Lyft on New York City's West Side Highway when she observed a woman flipping off her driver, she told Fox News on Wednesday. Klein, unaware of the woman's issue with her, responded with a thumbs up. That's when she said both cars pulled up to a red light and the woman got out of her vehicle and approached her car. Klein said the woman was upset that her driver cut her off but she became more enraged when Klein told her to "calm down." In the video now posted to almost every social media platform, a wide-eyed "Karen" verbally attacked Klein. "You're cute too," she can be heard saying as the video begins. The driver of the Lyft can be heard repeatedly apologizing as the angry woman looks into the camera and sticks her tongue out at Klein. "She thinks it's cute that her driver almost hit my kids and she thinks she needs to take a video of it instead of apologizing like a sane human," she continued. "So stopping in the middle of the road is going to help?" Klein asked rhetorically. "You being a b—- is going to help?" the woman said sticking her head through the passenger side window. As the driver continued to apologize to the angered woman, she fired back at Klein. "It is your fault and you know what that didn't upset me but the b—- a– h– that told me to 'calm down,' what I'd like you to do is apologize instead of being a b—-." Klein told the woman to "set an example," alluding to a child she saw in the car nearby. "My kids can't hear me calling you a b—-," she said, "they can't hear me because they're listening to 'Kidz Bop.'" Klein told Fox News that the whole encounter felt like it was out of a movie and she only began filming because she was genuinely worried about what the angry driver might do next. "I didn't know what was going to happen," Klein said. "I was filming just in case of an emergency." She added: "I still haven't processed it." Klein said that immediately after the video was posted by Barstool Sports, an Instagram account appearing to belong to "Karen" began attacking her physical appearance in the comment section. Klein also received an email from the woman "congratulating me on my 15 minutes of fame," adding that any money she's made from the clip "was hers." "I haven't made any money," she said amusingly. Klein told Fox News "she feels bad" for the woman and only shared the video after the fact because she thought it was funny. She added: "I just took it as another wild New York encounter." The video of the incident has gone viral after being shared on Instagram, YouTube and Twitter, prompting amused users to recreate the moment on Tik Tok, another popular social media platform. Woman behind viral 'Kidz Bop Karen' video speaks after memes explode online - 9News Posted: 06 Nov 2019 07:14 PM PST A woman who filmed video of a road rage incident in New York City, which catapulted the phrase "Kidz Bop Karen" into popular culture, has spoken about her new-found fame. Chelsea Klein, 29, was travelling home from work in the back of a rideshare car when her driver reportedly cut off another vehicle while merging lanes. Both cars stopped in the middle of New York City's West Side Highway, where the female driver of the other car got out and began harassing Klein and her driver through the passenger side window. The unknown woman – who has been dubbed "Kidz Bop Karen" – makes a series of strained faces before being told to "calm down" by Klein. After a series of firey exchanges, Klein asks "Kidz Bop Karen" if her children can hear her swearing, to which she now infamously replies "No, they are listening to Kidz Bop". "Your attitude sucks d---," the woman can be seen saying through the window. "My kids can't hear me calling you a b----. They can't hear me because they're listening to Kidz Bop." Klein posted the video to her Instagram, which immediately exploded in popularity. In just two days, "Kidz Bop Karen" has launched hundreds of thousands of memes and spoof videos across Twitter, Tik Tok, Facebook and Instagram. Speaking to American publication In The Know, Klein said after her video went viral the woman dubbed "Karen" got in touch with her over Instagram. "She said that I look 30 pounds lighter in my pictures and that my complexion is not good and that I should walk around with [Instagram] filters on me at all times," said Klein. "You never know what's going to happen, the world is a scary place. "I wanted to make sure if something happened, I had it on camera." The woman dubbed "Karen" has not been identified. The clip has been seen more the 16 million times. Ernesto Paolillo: "Conte's Words Must Motivate Inter Team To Grow" - SempreInter Posted: 06 Nov 2019 07:14 PM PST ![]() Former Inter director Ernesto Paolillo has shared his thoughts on Antonio Conte's outburst following Inter's 3-2 loss away to Borussia Dortmund last night in the Champions League. Conte made it clear that he was far from happy with how things had went post-match and during his interviews he took some swipes at Inter's management, accusing them of poor planning. "The manager has to take responsibility for the team and result, yesterday he found himself in a situation that has turned upside down," he said in an interview with Radio 24 show 'Tutto Convocati'. "He was heated when he done the interviews and I understand his emotions but Inter is a club with very good management, they know what they are missing and when it is possible they will do something. "I feel comfortable from this point of view: yesterday we saw that this team has limits. Certain words of Conte must motivate them to grow, they are well paid and have to take responsibility. The limits come out when the team suffers from fatigue." Posted: 06 Nov 2019 07:04 PM PST ![]() Mario Gotze has shared his thoughts and feelings following Borussia Dortmund's comeback 3-2 victory over Inter last night in the Champions League. "Of course we had imagined the game going quite differently, we suddenly found ourselves 2-0 behind. For the group and us, of course, it's all the more important that we came back," he explained in an interview with Ruhr Nachrichten. "Things are a little more relaxed with thanks to the victory. We still have a very difficult game in Barcelona and the home game against Slavia Prague will certainly not be any easier. "We had some good chances in the first half and in the second half we did not let Inter play like we had let them before. Clearly we have conceded some stupid goals and we must not repeat this. "After the interval we put a lot of pressure on Inter. We knew we could not let them play and that we had to score three goals and we did that." In conclusion he praised Achraf Hakimi, whose brace helped them to the win: "He is unpredictable with his speed. He has already led us to victory in Prague and is an important player for our team." Samaden: "We're Not Happy With Inter Primavera's Performance Against Dortmund" - SempreInter Posted: 06 Nov 2019 06:54 PM PST ![]() Inter head of youth development Roberto Samden has reflected on Inter Primavera's performance in their 2-1 UEFA Youth League defeat away to Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund opened the scoring soon after the second half started and Inter would draw level through Edoardo Vergani on the hour mark but went on to concede once more just minutes later. "The matches are always balanced in Europe, there are no easy games. The absence of those on national duty do not matter, we have a team that can afford to make up for the shortcomings. We played quite a subdued match where we only played well for the last 20 minutes," he said in an interview with Inter TV. "We are not happy with the performance. What lessons can we draw from this? Every game teaches something, especially in Europe where nothing can be taken for granted. The Youth League is fantastic because it makes you grow and we care about doing good in it. Now the chapter is closed, now we are preparing for the next match." Ex-Inter Player Riccardo Ferri: "The Second Half Against Dortmund Was Inexplicable" - SempreInter Posted: 06 Nov 2019 06:44 PM PST ![]() Former Inter central defender Riccardo Ferri has had his say on what went wrong for Inter last night as they blew a 2-0 half-time lead as they went on to loss 3-2 to Borussia Dortmund "The approach to the match was amazing, but immediately after Lautaro's goal the team dropped off a lot, almost wanting to settle for the result from then. The second half was inexplicable:there were lots of individual mistakes and the wrong attitude. In the end there was no recovery,"Ferri told Inter TV.

Boninsegna: "Conte Absolutely Right To Criticise Inter Management" - SempreInter Posted: 06 Nov 2019 06:04 PM PST ![]() Former Inter striker Roberto Boninsegna has come to the defence of Inter manager Antonio Conte after he called out club management in his post-match interviews following Inter's 3-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. Conte hit out at the Nerazzurri leadership for their poor planning of the season and also hinted that promises were made to him that had not been kept with these promises presumably relating to the signings of certain players during the Summer transfer window. "Conte is absolutely right, you cannot face such games without spare parts. I agree with him, the team is short," Boninsegna, who spent seven years with Inter between 1969 and 1976, said in an interview with Italian news agency ADNKronos. He added: "The only striker is Romelu Lukaku. What if he gets injured? Meanwhile, Juventus has three or four strikers to choose from. I think Conte is absolutely right to criticise the management." Posted: 06 Nov 2019 06:04 PM PST At the end of Tuesday night's remarkable comeback, Christian Pulisic perhaps had the best understanding in Chelsea's dressing room of how Ajax's players felt. Two years ago the American attacker was part of the Borussia Dortmund team that led 4-0 against their neighbours Schalke in the Bundesliga only to end up drawing 4-4. "I've been in some wild games before," Pulisic said. "I remember being up 4-0 in Dortmund and tying 4-4. I don't want to talk about that but this game was crazy. "Now being on the other end of it is special. You could see when the team put them under pressure like that it's just not easy. It was a crazy game." Crazy seemed an understatement but Chelsea's fightback, along with Valencia's win against Lille, means that three teams are now tied on seven points in Group H with two rounds of fixtures remaining. Frank Lampard's team visit the Spanish side, who they were beaten 1-0 by in the group opener, at the end of November before hosting Lille, the only side out of the reckoning, at Stamford Bridge in the first week of December. ![]() Video Loading Chelsea are likely to need four points to progress to the knockout rounds and although confidence remains high they are aware that they need to get a result at the Mestalla. "Valencia is going to be a huge game for us," Pulisic added. "We just have to get a result there and then we're looking great to go through. "It's going to be really tight. It just makes those next games that much more important, so we have to go there and get a result." One of the most striking things about Tuesday evening's game was how Ajax continued to attack when down to nine men. "It's the kind of team they are," Pulisic added. "They were kind of sitting and doing well on the counter. You've got to deal with that because we were putting a lot of guys forward because we needed to. But yeah they're a good team." While Pulisic said that Chelsea must learn from the "silly mistakes" that saw them concede four times in the opening 55 minutes, their comeback pointed to a team full of belief in adversity and a determination to prove doubters wrong. "Being down like that, you'd think a draw would be an unbelievable result but it's almost that feeling where we wanted more. We scored a winner and it was taken back [by VAR] so it was tough. "At half time we said we were never going to give up, we can go out and win this game. We showed a lot of fight and came back." Much of that came from Lampard's team talk, which leaned heavily on ensuring his players kept their heads up. "Of course, he gives us confidence and he's the one who pushes us and tells us to do it. It shows the fight of all the team. "What did he say at half time? Just silly goals on our part, silly defensive mistakes, but we're going to make chances and we're going to win this game." They did not win it but a draw at least ensures their hopes remain live. Catherine Deneuve hospitalized with stroke - Chicago Sun-Times Posted: 06 Nov 2019 05:48 PM PST PARIS — French actress Catherine Deneuve has had a mild stroke while filming her latest movie, the screen star's family said Wednesday. The 76-year-old Deneuve suffered a "very limited and therefore reversible" stroke, according to a family statement sent to The Associated Press by the media representative for Artmedia, the agency that represents Deneuve. It said no further statements were planned. "Fortunately, she has no motor deficits (but) must, of course, take some time to rest." Deneuve was hospitalized in Paris, but the family didn't disclose the name of the facility. No details were given on when she had the stroke, but French media reported that it happened late Tuesday or early Wednesday. Deneuve has been filming "De son vivant" (In One's Lifetime), the story of a mother who loses her son to cancer. It was the third film by Emmanuelle Bercot, the director, starring Deneuve. With her long blond hair, heavy eyelids and sultry stare, Oscar-nominated Deneuve first came to prominence in Jacques Demy's 1964 musical "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg." But longevity was one of the French film star's greatest skills. She dazzled red carpets as fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent's muse and won myriad awards in a career that spans seven decades. ![]() She won several Cesar Awards, France's answer to the Oscars, including for Francois Truffaut's 1980 hit "The Last Metro" and consolidated her status as one of France's most famous exports with an Academy Award nomination for 1992's "Indochine," a drama set in colonial French Indochina during the 1930s to 1950s. She hasn't stopped. Deneuve starred in a film released earlier this year, "Fete de Famille" (Happy Birthday), directed by Cedric Kahn. Her own family grew via her romantic involvement with several famous men. She had a son, Christian Vadim, with director Roger Vadim, and a daughter, French actress Chiara Mastroianni, with actor Marcello Mastroianni, with whom she had lived. It was arguably her prize-winning turn in Luis Bunuel's 1967 masterpiece "Belle de Jour," the avant-garde story of a bored young housewife who spends her weekday afternoons as a posh prostitute, for which she may be best remembered. Goalscoring etiquette: Aaron Ramsey nabs goal from Cristiano Ronaldo - CNN Posted: 06 Nov 2019 04:21 PM PST Juve beat Lokomotiv Moscow 2-1 in Group D thanks to Costa's moment of individual brilliance in stoppage time after the Brazilian came on as a 70th-minute subsitute. In the last 15 minutes we had the issue with the new keeper."
