A man was fatally shot in Dallas after attempting to enter an apartment without consent, police said.

Dallas police responded to a shooting call in the 8300 block of Park Lane at about 1:20 a.m. Sunday when they found a man who had died of a gunshot wound. Police did not release the man’s identity.

Police said they believe the man was attempting to enter the shooter’s apartment without his consent. When the man was inside the apartment, the shooter drew his firearm and shot him, police said.
