Decadent? Definitely. Crass? Certainly. At all surprising? Absolutely not. As Project Big Picture and the decision to charge fans £14.95 for a game not considered good enough to broadcast in the first place tell us, football is a big business and has little regard for supporters. While the distance between elite football clubs and their fans has been more pronounced of late, Premier League clubs have been big-spending machines since the 1990s. An era of English football romanticised considering what has happened since, major clubs were still lavishly spending even then. The connection between the reality of daily life for supporters and the institutions themselves may have been closer but all this started long ago. To prove that point somewhat, GIveMeSport is using a study conducted by Free Super Tips showing just how much the 10 most expensive transfers in Premier League history would look if today's inflation was applied. 10) Stan Collymore - Aston Villa, 1997 Having cost Villa a hefty £9.45m in 1997, Stan Collymore's fee at the time would translate to a whopping £60.32m today. Off the field problems blighted his time at Villa Park while playing for the club he supported as a boy and shouldn't be overlooked when considering his spell brought only twelve goals in fifty-six appearances. 9) Chris Armstrong - Tottenham, 1995  Perhaps the least known of the names you're going to see on this list, Chris Armstrong's £4.5m club-record move to Tottenham in 1995 to replace Jurgen Klinsmann would now cost £63.37m according to the study. The Frenchman did help the club win the League Cup and Europa League in his first season but, sadly, issues (though not all his fault) with both him and the structure around him have seen his stay descended into an unhappy one. In 2020, he'd cost £150.37m. Alarmingly, given how those behind the scenes at Old Trafford seem to operate, it's not hard to see them making the same mistake again if they had the chance. 1) Alan Shearer - Newcastle, 1996 Trophies may have eluded Alan Shearer following his world-record £18.9m move to boyhood heroes Newcastle United but success on a personal level was almost constant. The club's record goalscorer and best ever player, the deal would be worth £157.7m today. The equivalent to just under four Joelintons. Newcastle's best ever signing, you'd have to say he'd be worth it. In talks in Hanoi on Monday, Suga and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc set a basic agreement allowing Japan to export defence equipment and technology to Vietnam. Japan has been pursuing such agreements in recent years to bolster ties with Southeast Asia and provide a lifeline to its own defence industry. Suga arrived in Hanoi late on Sunday on the first stop of a four-day visit to Vietnam and Indonesia that he says is key to pursuing the "free and open Indo-Pacific" vision for multilateral economic and security cooperation to counter China's growing power and protect sea lanes in disputed areas of the South China Sea. "Vietnam is crucial to achieving our vision of 'the Free and Open Indo-Pacific,' and our valuable partner,"' Suga told a joint news conference after his hour-long meeting with Phuc. "Japan, as an Indo-Pacific nation, will continue to contribute to the peace and stability in this region." Suga said Vietnam was the most suitable destination for his first trip abroad as Japan's leader. | カレントが描く長崎IRはエンターテインメントに徹底的にこだわる - 株式会社角川アスキー総合研究所 Posted: 19 Oct 2020 06:34 PM PDT 長崎県のIRプロジェクトに手を挙げるカレント（CURRENT）は、カジノやMICEよりもエンターテインメント施設としてのIRにこだわる。CURRENT代表取締役の鈴木保氏にビジネスプロフィール、長崎IRに至るまでの経緯、そしてエンターテインメントへのこだわりについて聞いた。  あまたの経験がIRにつながり、たどり着いた長崎という場所CURRENT代表の鈴木保氏はエンタメ畑の出身、子役だったこともある。不動産開発会社を経て、エンターテインメント業界に入り、テレビ会社のコンテンツを用いてラスベガスで10年以上エンタメショーをやってきたという経験を持つ。その後、マカオでカジノホテルを展開するソフィテルマカオ・アットポンテ16でカジノホテルの運営に従事し、今から7年前にIRを立ち上げるために日本に戻ってきた。 現在、鈴木氏はCURRENT、SHOTOKU、RINALDOなど複数の会社を抱えるSRCグループのトップとして、IR事業の投資やエンターテインメント観光の事業を手がける。「ラスベガスでショーを運営したり、不動産開発やカジノホテルの運営に携わった経験のある日本人なんてほとんどいないですよね」と鈴木氏は笑う。IRに関わるのが、まさに天命とも言えるような経験を重ねてきたわけだ。 そんな経験を持つ鈴木氏だけに、過去には数多くのIRプロジェクトに関わってきた。大阪や和歌山、横浜など現在手を挙げている候補地はもちろん、北海道や静岡、沖縄など過去に手を挙げていた候補地にも足を運んだ。こうして多くの自治体とやりとりした結果、2年前にたどり着いたのが長崎だった。「最初に長崎に来たときに、目がキラキラしている人が多いのが印象的でした。一言言っただけで、ここまで前向きに捉えてくれる。初めて行ったのに、昔からの友人のように応援してくれる。これってすごいなと。土地柄としか言い様がありません」と鈴木氏は振り返る。 1ヶ月の半分は長崎 焼き鳥屋で地元の声に耳を傾ける鈴木氏が考える長崎の魅力はアジアとの近接性だ。「4時間以内」という条件であれば、北京、上海、台湾、韓国など広くアジア圏をカバーし、佐世保を港とした客船の行き来も多い。もちろん、国内であれば、車で九州や山口県まで収まる。また観光面でも、歴史のある町並みや数多くの温泉地を有し、アイランドホッピングしやすい五島列島、廃坑として有名な軍艦島など、体験型観光にも適した観光地も多い。 とはいえ、こうした魅力を今まで長崎はアピールし切れてこなかった。これが鈴木氏の指摘する問題点だ。長崎には福岡や熊本では当たり前にあるようなブランドや店舗がなかったため、週末に長崎から特急かもめに乗って福岡に買い物に出かける「かもめ族」という言葉すらあった。「でも、歴史的に新しい文化がもっとも入ってきたのは長崎。だから、県民には今でも『長崎は最先端の県』という自負があります。だからこそ、最先端のIRにチャレンジする必要があります」と鈴木氏は語る。 今ではCURRENETの本社を長崎市、支社を佐世保に置き、長崎のIRに向けた準備を進めている。鈴木氏も月の半分は長崎に滞在し、地元への説明や意見交換に汗を流しているという。「焼き鳥屋に通っていれば、地元の人たちがなにを考えているかわかります。こういう活動をしないで『長崎をよくします』なんて言ったって、それは詭弁としか受け取られません」と鈴木氏は語る。 長崎県のIRはハウステンボスが所有する土地の一部をIRとして利用する予定となっている。そして、CURRENTが描くIRは近代的な建物と古い町並みが混在するオランダの街のようなイメージだという。鈴木氏は「ハウステンボスはもちろん残るので、歴史と未来を融合させるようなイメージです」と語る。スイートルーム3000室を擁するホテル、車1万台、バス200台くらいの駐車場も用意する。  当然、巨額の投資が必要になるが、鈴木氏の出身母体であるソフィテルマカオ・アットポンテ16、香港に上場するゲット・ナイス・ホールディングスなどから資金を集めている。「すでに長崎県には6500億円をグループ内で調達済みである旨を伝えており、いつでも資金証明を提出できるよう準備を終えています」（鈴木氏）とのことだ。 エンターテインメントが成立しなければIRとしての成功は難しいCURRENTの手がけるIRの特徴は、鈴木氏の出自でもあるエンターテインメントへのこだわりだ。「ハウステンボスのどこが弱かったかかというと、やはりエンターテインメントだと思うんです。確かにIRにおいてカジノの売上比率は大きいですが、ターゲットはあくまでカジノを目的とした客。日本人が観光としてIRに来る場合は、おいしい食事、楽しい買い物、普段見られないショーなど、エンターテインメントが成立していなければ、まず成功は難しいと思っています」と鈴木氏は指摘する。 IRなので、カジノはあるが、人を惹きつけるのはあくまでエンターテインメント。具体的なプランもいくつかあるようで、カジノからエンターテインメントへとシフトするIRのトレンドを大きく反映させた施設になりそうだ。一方で、MICEに関しては、専門業者と提携して展開するが、「コロナ禍もあり、もはやビジネスとしては成立しにくい」（鈴木氏）と必ずしも前向きでもない。一方で、「防災型IR」を謳い、台風や地震などの自然災害時のシェルターとして利用できるようになっており、ポストコロナのIRとしての条件も備えている。 とはいえ、コロナ禍の影響は大きい。出ると言っていた政府の基本方針もなかなか出ず、先日は認定申請の期間も後ろ倒しになった。鈴木氏は、「認定申請期間も2021年中ならともかく、さすがに2022年中にまで延びたら厳しい」と釘を刺す。また、ポストコロナのIRについては、「部分開業を認めない方針はナンセンスだし、三密を回避するためにも、エリア内に閉じたオンラインカジノはぜひ解禁してもらいたい」と訴える。 "エンターテインメント" - Google ニュース October 19, 2020 at 05:00PM https://ift.tt/2FM3HIE カレントが描く長崎IRはエンターテインメントに徹底的にこだわる - 株式会社角川アスキー総合研究所 "エンターテインメント" - Google ニュース https://ift.tt/2W81riD Shoes Man Tutorial Pos News Update Meme Update Korean Entertainment News Japan News Update  | ||||

| Viral Facebook post shows how a simple act of El Paso kindness can go a long way - KVIA El Paso Posted: 19 Oct 2020 05:47 PM PDT  EL PASO, Texas -- During these challenging times Mara Huerta, an El Paso single mom of two, tries to show her young boys that despite what's happening all around us there is still good in the world. Huerta herself was reminded of that this past weekend. "The whole time that I was in there I was thinking about him. For some reason he grabbed my attention so much more that day," said Huerta. While grocery shopping with her sister and grandmother, Huerta encountered an 80-year-old man who didn't skip a beat when it came to making sure customers felt welcomed as they stepped out of their cars. "He's always there as soon as you get out of your car. As soon as you show up and you park he already knows you're gonna be showing up and you need a cart. He starts wiping a cart down and he takes it to you. He then offers to sanitize your hands," explained Huerta who said that this chance encounter brought up memories of her late grandfather, "I see his hard work and I see his determination and how much he focuses and takes pride in what he does and it always reminds me of my grandpa." Both are hard working men who didn't need to work but always chose to continue working because it made them happy. "So that just broke my heart and I left and I said we have to do something more. Whatever it is to bring awareness to this mans hard work," said Huerta. She then decided to post about her positive encounter with this store employee on Facebook and within hours the post went viral. "I didn't think that it really was gonna be this much of a hit but within two hours we had like 400 shares and I was like oh my gosh this is crazy," said Huerta. She then decided to create a GoFundMe page for the store employee, not because she felt he needed help financially, but because she wanted to show him that his hard work and kindness was making a difference to those he crossed paths with. "In a way it really has restored my faith in humanity because people are just reacting to this so quickly and the amount of comments that I'm getting and people sharing their stories of their encounters with him," said Huerta, "It's definitely wonderful to be able to share these kind of stories and kinda spread the love and the unity within the people of El Paso." As of Monday evening, the Facebook post has been liked over 3,000 times and shared over 2,000 times. Huerta has received mostly positive feedback from her post, but the viral post has also brought negative comments as well. The intentions of the Facebook post were not meant to invade the privacy of the store employee. Huerta's intentions were to bring light to those in our community who manage to continue bringing positivity through these difficult times. ABC-7 went to speak to the grocery store employee to ask how he felt about all this attention. Although he did not want to be identified, he was just glad that the job he enjoys doing every day is making an impact in others lives.
