Bears at Vikings (-3.5)

Nothing like the Texans to revive someone’s playoffs hopes, not to mention a resurgent uptempo Mitch Trubisky, who had a nice chemistry with Allen Robinson, and a Monsters of the Midway pass rush. Nick Foles was awful when the NFC North foes met and RB David Montgomery (concussion) missed the first matchup. It helps Trubisky and HC Matt Nagy that the Vikings field the 26th-ranked pass defense.

MLB Roquan Smith helped contain Dalvin Cook (30-96) in the first meeting, and Bears DC Chuck Pagano will need Khalil Mack & Co. to harass Kirk Cousins more than they did (one sack on 36 passing attempts) with Adam Thielen and stud rookie Justin Jefferson such a dangerous duo. And they’ll be that much more dangerous if impressive rookie CB Jaylon Johnson (shoulder) is sidelined or limited and Duke Shelley at slot corner If Buster Skrine is out.

Pick: Vikings 1-3

Lions at Titans (-11)

Matthew Stafford (ribs) is iffy and if poor Chase Daniel is forced to make his sixth career start, he won’t be throwing to WR Kenny Golladay (hip). Wait, there’s more. When you are the 29th-ranked run defense, the last guy you want on your schedule is Derrick Henry. And it isn’t only King Henry: the Titans, who are pushing to win the AFC South, have scored 141 points in their last four games with Ryan Tannehill (8 TDs, 2 INTs) throwing to A. J. Brown and Corey Davis. Wait, there’s more. No Jeff Okudah or Desmond Trufant means Amani Oruwariye at cornerback. Good luck. Maybe Chris Spielman can help find the right coach. The poor Lions still haven’t won a Super Bowl.

Pick: Titans 15-21

Buccaneers (-6.5) at Falcons

Tom Brady has beaten Matt Ryan the only four times they’ve faced off, including that Super Bowl LI comeback for the ages. And now Ryan could be without Julio Jones (hamstring). And the Bucs have 40 sacks. OC Dirk Koetter won’t be able to fool Bucs DC Todd Bowles with Russell Gage throwing to Calvin Ridley since he unveiled it last week. You have to believe that Ryan won’t throw three INTs in back-to-back games and he can’t afford to since fading Todd Gurley will be confronting the league’s top run defense. The Falcons are 0-6 when they fail to reach 90 yards on the ground. Well, the Bucs are 21st in pass defense, so there’s that. And maybe Brady will forget what down it is. HC Raheem Morris is 4-4 since replacing Dan Quinn and this is the home finale. A sideline hug from owner Arthur Blank would go a long way towards helping him keep the job. All the pressure is on the Bucs, who are one game behind the Seahawks in the wild-card race and two games behind the Saints in the NFC South.

Pick: Bucs by 1 to 3.

Seahawks (-5.5) at Washington

Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson had the benefit of a bye last weekend – – the Jets showed up. But waiting for them across the country will be the Washington Football Team, and Chase Young and Montez Sweat. The Washington Post informs us that Ron Rivera’s first-place outfit has outscored opponents 107-57, allowed an average of 65 rushing yards and totaled eight takeaways during its four-game win streak. Rivera and DC Jack Del Rio will go to school on how the Giants stymied Wilson. Kendall Fuller is their best corner, but he’s 5-11, and DK Metcalf is 6-4, 229. There is optimism about Alex Smith’s calf, which would save Dwayne Haskins from the wrath of Jamal Adams. Smith will need to get WR Terry McLaurin untracked with RBs J. D. McKissick and Peyton Barber in for gifted rookie Antonio Gibson.

Pick: Seahawks by 1 to 3.

Patriots at Dolphins

The Fish opened the season with a 21-11 loss in Foxborough when Cam Newton rushed for 75 yards and 2 TDs and Ryan Fitzpatrick threw 3 INTs. Brian Flores won’t allow either to happen again and it’s difficult sweeping a division foe unless the Jets are in your division. Bill Belichick is 21-5 against rookie quarterbacks after his smackdown of Justin Herbert (49.1 completion percentage, 0 TDs, 2 INTs), so don’t expect miracles from Tua Tagovailoa. A win would give the Dolphins an inside track for the seventh seed and eliminate the Pats. That’s what we call killing Tua birds with one stone.

Forcing Newton to play catch-up without a No. 1 receiver and CB Xavien Howard (9 INTs) lurking would be ideal for Miami. The Dolphins have defeated the Patriots in their last two December meetings – – if Adam Gase can do it, Flores sure can, even if his RBs average a league-worst 3.6 ypc. But all bets are off if DeVante Parker (slight hamstring strain) and/or TE Mike Gesicki (shoulder) are limited and/or sidelined.

Pick: Dolphins by 4 to 7.

Browns (-5.5) at Giants

It all depends on how hamstrung Daniel Jones will be. The expected return of CB Denzel Ward will discourage targets to Sterling Shepard. Quick decisions and getting the ball out of his hand will be imperative for Jones — and/or Colt McCoy — against Myles Garrett and Olivier Vernon.

Baker Mayfield has a 13:2 TD:INT ratio over his last seven games, but DC Patrick Graham’s first task is to keep from getting trucked by RBs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. And Hunt is a big threat (31-252-5 TDs) out of the backfield. Joe Judge better straighten out his struggling special teams. The 9-4 Browns are one game ahead of the Ravens and Dolphins and tied with the Colts and Titans in the playoff chase. They can’t afford to look past the Giants and ahead to the Jets — as tempting as that might be.

Pick: Giants by 1 to 3.
