CORRECTION: The Illinois Department of Public Health reports that Regions 1 and 2 are on track for reopening as early as tomorrow. The announcement does not pertain to Chicago and suburban Cook County.
Crain's regrets the error.

There's more good reopening news from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
In action announced today, the department said Regions 1 and 2 on the state's COVID matrix now are "on track" to move out of Tier 1 mitigation and into Phase IV reopenings as soon as Monday. Region 1 encompasses the Rockford, DeKalb and Dixon areas and stretch to Mississippi. Region 2 includes Peoria and Bloomington, stretching from Kendall County west to the Mississippi.
That means, unless test positivity rates suddenly jump in today's data, capacity limits on retail stores and gyms will move to 50 percent, and that indoor movie theaters can resume service. Also, all schools will be allowed to resume in-classroom teaching, at least legally, teachers' union opinions on the matter notwithstanding.
Both Chicago and suburban Cook County only moved to Tier 1 on Saturday. That, among other things, allowed the resumption of limited indoor bar and restaurant service.
The other news is on IDPH's COVID dashboard and concerns Regions 8 and 9, which include Lake and DuPage counties and are the only portions of the metropolitan area that have not been formally allowed to resume limited indoor bar and restaurant service.
The website indicates both meet the key metric, with positivity test rates averaging below 8 percent. But IDPH did not announce anything, and officials did not return calls and emails seeking comment on whether the greenlight is on in these regions.
