An Oregon running back has entered their name in the NCAA Transfer Portal. On Saturday morning, Oregon running back Cyrus Habibi-Likio announced he would be transferring from Oregon and using his two remaining years of eligibility elsewhere.

Habibi-Likio is the second running back and the fourth player to enter the transfer portal this season from the Ducks. Running back Jayvaun Wilson announced his transfer to UNLV earlier in the month. Defensive back Daewood Davis and linebacker MJ Cunningham have also entered the portal this offseason.
The running back was part of Oregon's three-headed rushing attack the past few seasons with CJ Verdell and Travis Dye. Habibi-Likio was primarily a short-yardage running back and a goal-line specialist for the Ducks with 21 rushing touchdowns over three seasons.
Habibi-Likio made national headlines during Oregon's 2019 game against Cal, taking down a fan that ran onto the field during a TV timeout. Minutes after that incident, Habibi-Likio would score a touchdown, proving to be the game-winning score in the Ducks win.

Verdell announced his return to Oregon on Friday night, giving the Ducks at least five scholarship running backs on the roster in 2021. The Ducks return both Verdell and Dye and will look to feature freshman Sean Dollars and Trey Benson plus 2021 signee Seven McGee.
The NCAA introduced the portal on Oct. 15, 2018, providing athletes a path to explore their options. Players do not need to ask permission from their coaching staff in order to transfer. They merely need to request that compliance enter their name. Usually, it takes 24-48 hours for a player to appear following their request. Schools are free to contact a player without restriction once their name appears in the portal.
While a player entering their name in the transfer portal means they intend to explore their options, it does not necessarily mean they will leave. A player is free to withdraw his name at any time. However, schools are under no obligation to keep a player on scholarship once they enter the portal.
