Bo LeMastus last-minute entry for St. Petersburg, SST debut - The Checkered Flag

Bo LeMastus will make his Stadium Super Trucks début when the 2021 season kicks off later today in the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. He will drive the #68 truck.

LeMastus was a late addition to the grid and missed qualifying on Friday. Although the possibility of extra drivers joining the field was raised after the entry list was released on Wednesday, his arrival was not confirmed until Saturday when the series posted a bulletin on Twitter requesting for a graphics company to print decals for his truck. He and Robert Stout are both making their SST début at the Florida street circuit.

The CEO of Crosley Brands, LeMastus has competed as an owner/driver in the ARCA Menards Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He finished sixth in the former’s 2015 standings and has nine top-ten finishes in 44 career starts. As a Truck driver in 2018, he ran twelve races with a best finish of fifteenth at Chicagoland.

Until the end of 2020, he co-owned Truck and ARCA team DGR-Crosley with NASCAR veteran David Gilliland. Gilliland assumed full operations of the organisation in 2021 and renamed it David Gilliland Racing, though LeMastus remained involved in a marketing position.

LeMastus will be the twenty-fifth driver to run a points race in both SST and NASCAR, and the eighteenth to also have a start in one of NASCAR’s national series. He joins Robby Gordon, Sheldon Creed, and Jett Noland as one of four such drivers at St. Petersburg. Creed and LeMastus have also run the same ARCA races on occasion and the 2018 Truck race at Texas.

The 2021 SST season kicks off on Saturday, followed by a second race on Sunday.
