All school age students residing in Tehama County are invited to enter the annual Student Art Contest sponsored by Tehama County Arts Council in cooperation with the Red Bluff Art Association.

“Blooming” is the theme of the 2021 Student Art Contest and can reference a flower blooming or a personal expression of what makes the artist bloom or thrive.

Research continues to show that art is vital in the lives of children and is fundamental to academic success, develops problem solving skills and provides opportunities to improve and strengthen mental health.

Art works must be 9”x12” or smaller, no more than 1/4” thick and must not be matted or framed. They must be original works, using no copy written material and no computers can be used to create the art.

The winning works will be selected by Red Bluff Art Association members based on creativity, individuality, skill and elements of art. Prizes of art supplies are given to first through third places and two honorable mentions in each of the four age groups. The student work selected as Best of Theme will be awarded a cash prize of $75.

Winning work will be exhibited at the Main Event Gallery. Winning students will be invited to attend a reception to receive their awards on June 1.

Application forms can be found at www.tehamaarts.org or write to tcacarts@gmail.com to request a form. All contest details are on the form.

The contest deadline is Saturday, May 15. Entries can be dropped off at the Main Event Gallery, 710 Main St., in downtown Red Bluff, 4-6 p.m. May 12 and 13, or 11 a.m .to 5 p.m. any Friday and Saturday through May 15.
