Arrivals from Germany, the Portuguese island of Madeira and the Spanish Balearic Islands are bound to undergo double testing requirements and self-isolation upon reaching Czechia starting on August 30, the country’s authorities have announced.
These countries have been added to the red category, imposing to travellers the requirement of a PCR or antigen test taken before reaching Czechia. In addition, a quarantine requirement is mandatory, followed by another PCR or antigen test taken no earlier than the fifth day but no later than day 14 after entering the country, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.
Entry requirements will be tightened for San Marino arrivals as well, since the country has been added to Czechia’s orange list.
The remaining red category countries include the following:
- Andorra
- Bulgaria
- Belgium
- Denmark
- Ireland
- Iceland
- Lithuania
- Liechtenstein
- Monaco
- Estonia
- France
- Greece
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- Spain
- Portugal
The same rule of double testing and quarantine requirement applies to several third countries like Montenegro, Israel, Kosovo, Lebanon, Northern Macedonia and the United States, which were last week downgraded from the green to the dark red list, meaning that these territories are considered highly affected by the virus. In addition, Cyprus, UK, Turkey and Russia are also in the dark red category.
On the other hand, for low risk (green category) and medium risk countries arrivals (orange category) Czech authorities require to provide an entry form and a PCR or antigen test performed no later than five days upon the arrival. Czechia’s orange category includes the following territories:
- Croatia
- Luxembourg
- Latvia
- Austria
- Italy
- Finland
- Malta
- Norway
- the Netherlands
- San Marino
- Slovenia
However, these rules do not apply to those presenting a valid vaccination passport indicating that 14 days have passed since the last shot of the approved COVID vaccine (Moderna, Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Janssen) was administered.
Czechia’s last category consists of countries that have recently reported a high rate of COVID-19 infections, also known as the black category and includes Brazil, Mozambique, Columbia, Nepal, Paraguay, Peru and Tanzania. Arrivals from these states have to provide a PCR test performed before arrival to Czechia, undergo the ten-day quarantine and get tested on the last day of quarantine.
Those fully vaccinated with one of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) authorised vaccines or those that have recovered from the virus in the previous 180 days, arriving from black category countries, are exempted from the quarantine requirement.
According to the World Health Organisation statistics, Czechia has reported six deaths related to COVID-19 and 213 people have been infected with the virus in the past 24 hours. So far, the country has reported 30,399 deaths and 1,678,544 positive cases with Coronavirus.
Furthermore, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) reveals that Czechia has fully vaccinated 63 per cent of its population whereas 65.4 per cent have received the first shot of the vaccine.
