The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has once again updated the travel rules imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and has announced that entry measures will apply to unvaccinated travellers arriving from regions of France, Greece, Portugal, and Switzerland.

The new rules, which are based on the weekly figures provided by the Statens Serum Institut, started being effective on July 30 at 4 pm, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

As such, in line with the newly announced changes, the following EU/Schengen regions have moved to Denmark’s yellow category:

  • France: Normandy, Grand Est, Pays de la Loire, Brittany, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Auvergne- Rhône-Alpes
  • Greece: North Aegean
  • Portugal: Madeira
  • Switzerland: Geneva

Consequently, this means that travellers from one of these regions mentioned above who have been vaccinated against the COVID-19 disease can enter Denmark without being subject to any of its entry restrictions. The ones who have recently recovered from the virus can also enter without having to follow testing or self-isolation measures.

In contrast, unvaccinated persons arriving from one of these regions need to follow testing rules as soon as they enter Denmark.

“When returning from yellow countries, travellers who have not been fully vaccinated or previously infected are required to have a test performed after entry,” the Ministry noted.

In addition, the same Ministry has revealed that Liechtenstein is now part of its green category. This means that all persons entering Denmark for this country are not subject to any entry restrictions.

“While more countries are experiencing increasing infection, the situation has improved in Liechtenstein, which is therefore changing from yellow to green,” the Ministry added.

Except for Liechtenstein, three French regions, Center – Val de Loire, Burgundy-Franche-Comté and the northern region of Hauts-de-France, remain in the green category as well, together with Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

As for the countries and regions outside the EU/Schengen Area, Denmark has placed Fiji and Iraq in the red category. This means that, among other things, arrivals from the two countries will now be subject to stricter self-isolation and testing requirements.

At the same time, Denmark has removed Suriname from the red category and has placed it on the orange one.

Previously, on last week’s announcement, Denmark placed Belgium and France in its yellow category, requiring travellers from the two countries to follow tightened entry rules.

According to World Health Organization (WHO) figures, Denmark has identified 314,983 COVID-19 infection cases since the beginning of the pandemic. In addition, until now, the country has registered 2,548 deaths related to the disease.
