Blues sign Tanner Dickinson to entry-level contract - St. Louis Game Time

The Blues’ offseason has been in a holding pattern thanks to the August lull and still having Vladimir Tarasenko on the roster. It’s tough to know how much cap space Doug Armstrong legitimately has to work with right now to sign Tarasenko and maybe invite Tyler Bozak back for another season.

Armstrong doesn’t have to worry about the cap when it comes to signing draft picks. Last week he signed the Blues’ 2021 first round pick, Zack Bolduc, to an entry level deal. Today, he signed the Blues’ fourth round pick from 2020, Tanner Dickinson, to an entry level contract as well.

Dickinson was ranked by NHL Central Scouting at 67th among North American skaters last year, and got a taste of the AHL for a few games with the Utica Comets last season. A middle of the draft pick, Dickinson is projected as a bottom-six center with speed by DobberProspects. EliteProspects also points out his speed and offense first usage.

The 19 year old has room to grow - he’s 6’ tall and used to fill out at 154lbs, though he has since added about 23lbs to his frame. He was recently asked to try out for Team USA at the World Junior Summer Showcase, scoring two goals against Team Sweden in one game. Representatives for the Blues were there to keep an eye on his play and, judging from the ELC Dickinson signed today, they liked what they saw.
