The Golden State Warriors aren’t exactly Southern California’s favorite NBA team. Still, you’d expect security working access to offseason workouts and pick-up games on the UCLA campus to at least be able to identify Draymond Green.
That didn’t happen on Saturday, as an oblivious security guard tried to prevent the four-time NBA champion from attending his scheduled training session. Good thing a line of fans was there to help identify Green, who showed impressive patience and restraint while ultimately taking matters into his own hands.

NBA players have used UCLA as the unofficial host of summer workouts and scrimmages dating back to the early 1980s, when Magic Johnson first helped popularize the practice. Los Angeles has exploded on the summer hoops scene ever since, with several other gyms and training facilities emerging as preferred locales of some of basketball’s biggest stars.
Draymond Green was in LA earlier this week, sitting courtside when LeBron James joined DeMar DeRozan’s team at the Drew League. Don’t expect the Warriors star to take part in that particular summer circuit, though. Green’s unique game is much better suited to private individual skill work and behind-the-scenes 5-on-5 than the spotlight provided by Los Angeles’ famed pro-am.
At least the future Hall-of-Famer would get better treatment at the door of Drew League though, right?
