While many slept-in after Fourth of July fireworks shows, re-entry program volunteers were cleaning river beaches.
On July 5, four volunteers from the Custody to Community Transitional Re-entry Program (CCTRP) pitched in to help the San Diego River Park Foundation clean Dog Beach Estuary in Ocean Beach.
Volunteers were given water, gloves, cleaning supplies and other necessities.
“If prizes were being given out for the hardest working team, the CCTRP San Diego clients would have won,” organizers said. “They were very motivated and did a great job.”
What is the foundation?
“The San Diego River Park Foundation has worked with the community to change San Diego’s relationship to its namesake waterway. We remain a local, grassroots non-profit organization,” according to their website. “We rely on donations, support from the community, and public and private grants for our work creating the San Diego River Park.”
