Workforce skills help parole, re-entry efforts - Inside CDCR - CDCR

deweweko.blogspot.com

To reduce recidivism while increasing chances of successful re-entry after parole, the Correctional Training Facility and CALPIA are helping incarcerated people develop workforce skills.

The Workforce Development Branch and the Industry Employment Program assembled a team to create the Essential Skills for the Workforce Program workbook to improve these skills.

To help prepare incarcerated people for parole, the workbook builds on research, common workplace practices and presents basic professional and social skills to help retain employment.

On June 22, the Correctional Training Facility awarded certificates of completion to 15 participants. The group said they found the self-paced, self-reflective guide very informative and challenging.

The next group will begin this month.
