The Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport fully reopens Monday after a five-month closure and brief soft reopening.
Timed entry rules will still be in place, with a limited number of guests allowed on the grounds at any time. Visitors will also have to follow a one-way signed path through the exhibits. The play area, touch pool, and café remain closed.
Visitors can get a look at the newly remodeled Indo-Pacific Coral Reef exhibit, featuring the animals and corals of tropical environments.
Tickets must be purchased online for specific time periods. Social distancing rules are in place, and face coverings are required for all visitors 5 and older. No outside food or beverages are allowed.
Tickets are required in advance via the website. Visitors must select a time. Tickets range from $14.95-$24.95 per person. The visit length is 90 minutes, and capacity is 90 general admission visitors and 10 members.
The aquarium is open 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. daily at 2820 S.E. Ferry Slip Road, Newport. See a complete list of reopening rules and frequently asked questions at aquarium.org. Telephone: 542-867-3474.
In the spring, the Newport attraction furloughed about 80 percent of its employees, leaving a skeleton crew of 26 to care for the animals, as well as 30 senior staff to manage the business while the attraction was closed to visitors because of the coronavirus pandemic.
