LSU punter Zach Von Rosenberg took to Twitter on Sunday afternoon to announce he was forgoing his final season of eligibility and entering the 2021 NFL draft.

All fall athletes were granted an extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and 2021 would have been Von Rosenberg’s sixth season in Baton Rouge.

Before enrolling at LSU in 2016, the 30-year-old Von Rosenberg spent six years playing minor league baseball. He redshirted his first season on campus in 2016 was named to the SEC All-Freshman team in 2017.

Von Rosenberg would be LSU’s punter for four years from 2017-20, making the All-SEC on two occasions, including in 2020, and the SEC Academic Honor Roll every year.

The 6-foot-5, 245-pound Von Rosenberg averaged 43.9 yards per punt in 2020 and finished his time in Baton Rouge with a career average of 44 yards per punt.

The Tigers signed their punter of the future in December when Peyton Todd inked with LSU. Much like Von Rosenberg, Todd is a big punter, standing 6-foot-5.

Von Rosenberg will almost certainly find a home in the NFL.
