Left-wing Meretz fails to enter Knesset in latest Israel election poll - Haaretz

An election poll published Tuesday by Channel 12 News shows Israel's perennial left-wing party Meretz not crossing the electoral threshold.

Meanwhile, it shows the Labor Party receiving seven seats, the highest in this election cycle's polls.

It is the second poll in the run-up to the March 23 election in which the left-wing party is shown to fail to enter the Knesset. The first was from early February, and in subsequent polls the party was projected to win four to five seats.

The Islamist United Arab List, which split from the Joint List over political disagreements such as cooperation with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party and LGBTQ+ rights, also failed to cross the electoral threshold in this poll.

A poll by Channel 13 meanwhile shows both parties barely grazing the electoral threshold, each entering the Knesset with the minimum four seats.

Likud maintains its lead from the previous Channel 12 poll, released last week, with 28 seats. Yair Lapid's Yesh Atid received an additional seat, bringing it to 19, as did Gideon Sa'ar's New Hope, now with 13.

The Labor Party, now helmed by Merav Michaeli, rose to seven seats from last week's six – a new record for the party, which appeared to be struggling to enter the Knesset before veteran MK Michaeli took the reins. Yamina fell by one seat, as did the ultra-Orthodox United Torah Judaism.

The Channel 13 poll gives Likud one less seat than Channel 12, and shows New Hope receiving three fewer at 11 seats, tied with Yamina for third behind Yesh Atid.
