Wichita State (5-11, 2-9) will be the No. 9 seed and face No. 8 seed Tulsa (5-13, 4-13) on Monday, March 8 in Fort Worth, Texas, at Dickies Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
The Shockers and Golden Hurricane just met in the regular season finale two days ago in Tulsa where Wichita State came away with an overtime victory, 85-77.
This will be Wichita State's fourth appearance in the American Athletic Conference Championship, and first as the No. 9 seed. Wichita State has been the No. 6, No. 7 and No. 10 seed in the previous three seasons.
The team that wins the 2021 American Women's Basketball Championship will receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship. Teams in the American Women's Basketball Championship are seeded based on winning percentage from regular-season conference games, with the top six seeds in the 2021 edition of the tournament receiving first-round byes.
