When it comes to winning football matches, having a good plan helps, but having world-class players is better.
Belgium did not look good for the majority of the first half against Denmark on Thursday. The Danes started the Euro 2020 game superbly at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg snatching a loose ball from Jason Denayer before teeing up Yussuf Poulsen for a goal within the opening two minutes.
In a game that was more than a game — both sides stopping in the 10th minute to applaud a recovering Christian Eriksen — it was the home side who brought an intensity and quality that belied their supposed underdog status.
