The inaugural Indianapolis 8 Hour this weekend (October 2-4), a much delayed round 2 of the 2020 Intercontinental GT Challenge should see a 23 car entry.
There have been multiple changes and clarifications since the initial provisional entry but today’s updated version of the list still shows 13 GT3 cars.
That bakers dozen though includes a couple of significant changes, the initially entered Black Swan Porsche now missing from the list, replaced by a second racers Edge Acura NSX GT3 Evo, the #80 car entered for the parallel GT WCA Pro-Am event which takes place within the overall race. Ziad Ghandour and Kyle Marcelli the listed drivers.
On the driving front the #4 DXDT Racing AMG GT3 sees Richard Heistand added to the already named George Kurtz and Colin Braun.
Jan Heylen meanwhile joins the #20 Wright Motorsports Porsche effort alongside Fred Poordad and Max Root, the effort now running in GT3 Silver Cup, currently as the only entry in the sub-class.
The #31 Audi is now confirmed as entered by Audi Sport team Hardpoint WRT for factory drivers Mirko Bortolotti and Markus Winkelhock, joined by Spencer Pumpelly.
The #34 Walkenhorst BMW sees Connor de Phillippi join the already named Augusto Farfus and newly crowned N24 winner Nicky Catsburg. Ben Keating joins the #63 DXDT Racing AMG GT3 alongside Ryan Dalziel and David Askew.
The #93 Racers Edge Acura lists Indy Lights and 2020 ELMS LMP3 racer Robert Megennis alongside Shelby Blackstock and Trent Hindman, the car confirmed as an entry for the 8 Hours overall. The 10 car GT4 entry has seen multiple changes too:
The #210 Classic BMW entry is withdrawn, but another BMW is added, this time the #82 M4 GT4 from Bimmerworld, James Clay, Chandler Hull and Bill Auberlen. The second addition is the #3 Motorsport USA McLaren 570S GT4 for Michael McAleenan, Dan Rogers and Michael Cooper.
The #2 GMG Racing Porsche Cayman adds Robin Liddell to the driver line-up.
The #17 TRG Cayman meanwhile drafts in Andy Lally to replace Spencer Pumpelly (see above) Parker Chase is drafted in to the #25 CCR Team TFB BMw M4 line-up and the Classic BMW effort renumbered from #210 to #26 now sees Steven McAleer replacing Chandler Hull.
GMG Racing have confirmed the line-up in their #8 Audi R8 LMS GT4 as Elias Sabo, James Sofronas and Andy Lee.
Finally the #69 BGB Motorsports Cayman now has a ‘TBA’ listed with Jan Helylen drafted in by Wright Motorsports GT3 effort.
